Nespesney just quit DayZ...
ThePugman replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Haha, might as well be! -
Does anyone know if it's possible to use the offline mod for this, yet? Can't seem to work it out, myself.
-
Infected spawning with headgear, vests and backpack won't grab the headlines, but it's an excellent change, imo.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head there, man. And Weyland, I don’t want to start an argument with you. I just read that you run a server, I presume? So I guess you’re in pretty deep, and going nowhere. But yeah, 7 years is a long fucking time. How many other games can you say you’ve enjoyed for that long? Staleness is a guarantee. The core DayZ experience is still there, no? If you’re bored of that, how much difference is the missing ‘flavour’ going to make? -
As others have said, this would be a terrible idea for the base game. Would definitely make an interesting mod. Lets see what the devs have in store for the next update. They’ve promised fixes to the biggest problems.

It’s time to stand up, or take a seat? Which one is it? In all seriousness though, what you’re actually doing is telling people who are having fun that they’re wrong. The game has it’s highest average Steam player count for 3 years. Plenty of people are enjoying it. What about THOSE thousands of players in your community? If YOU think the party’s over why don’t you go home? At the very least, take a break, dude. -
New DayZ Experimental Apps available on Steam

Tomorrow will be 6 weeks since 1.03 exp... I gotta gooooood feeling about it. -
New DayZ Experimental Apps available on Steam

The problem with that is it’s not a real experience of the game. The point of experimental is to iron out the bugs before stable. How are you supposed to provide valid feedback to reproduce a bug when you spawn items in yourself? I understand it’s very difficult for one person to test all the new items on exp, but throw in hundreds of players, and they will experience all the new content between them. Server feedback is important, too, which you cannot get playing offline. Anyway, the offline mod is not officially endorsed by BI, so it’s unlikely they will make any significant changes to accommodate it. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy using the mod too, just to look at new things, but I’d never submit feedback to the devs after using it. -
New DayZ Experimental Apps available on Steam

To be fair NVGs were very common when 1.03 exp launched. I imagine many people playing got their hands on them. If you play exp like normal DayZ, you’ll find these things. -
Would also make it easier to leave your base. How on earth can you be bothered with that swim every time you log on? 😂

Why is everyone suggesting there is a update that will be coming very soon??
ThePugman replied to Sil3nt's topic in New Player Discussion
I agree with the coming week. But then again, I’m a naive optimist. Fingers crossed everyone 🤞🤞 -
New DayZ Experimental Apps available on Steam

Cool, assume this is rolling out later then... also makes me think 1.04 isn’t too far away... HYPE!! *breathes and sits on hands* -
Getting a bit personal there, aren’t we? Searching LinkedIn profiles to find dirt? It’s only a fucking game, man. Anyway, everybody exaggerates on their CV 😉

Lol, oh yeah... and that ^ 😂

On Steam pressing shift + tab brings up the steam menus and you can ‘view players’ there. On console, it’s in the ‘online’ section of the menu. None of these options tell you the amount, just the user IDs of everyone playing in the server. You’ll have to count yourself, if you want an exact number.
-
OP said they don’t have 2k lying around for a gaming PC, I explained that you don’t need an expensive PC to run DayZ well.
-
Also, a tent isn’t really meant to be carried around. It’s for storing items. Get yourself some camo netting from a military location, and you can camouflage the outside. This makes them really difficult to spot in remote locations.
-
Why do player IDs display when you get close, or hear someone speak? Why is this specific to the PS4 release? Not necessarily saying it’s a bad thing, but really curious as to why it happens.
-
I believe they check these forums regularly, although you might have more luck submitting this as a ticket on the Bohemia feedback tracker website.
-
Could be worth submitting a ticket on the feedback tracker. Although I’d be surprised if they aren’t aware. A few months back they said that this was the year for balancing, and I’m pretty sure there will be a survival/medical overhaul coming at some point. Hopefully, the effects of rain, etc will be tweaked when that happens.

Sometimes it’s necessary to shoot first. I often stick my neck out and talk to people, but rarely do so at military bases.. Just not worth the risk imo. There are plenty of friendlies out there, though. The rarity of them makes the encounters all the more special!
-
The majority of players are hostile. You’ll find ways to gauge trust as time goes on.. but don’t give up hope of finding friendlies. When speaking to someone for the first time, try to put some kind of cover between you, like a wall. Dressing in civilian clothing, and keeping your gun on your back makes you seem less hostile, therefore, less likely to be shot on sight. If there are long gaps in people’s responses, there’s a good chance they are speaking to friends in party chat... for those guys, make your excuses and leave. In my experience, even if you’re friendly with the guy in front of you, it only takes 1 of his dick mates to kill you. Also, if you find someone you think is friendly, try and help each other out, by trading, etc. Anything you can do to build trust, can help prevent you being killed. Good luck out there!
-
I’m pretty sure they say ‘first person only’ in the server browser... keep looking.

A lot of your issues are fixed in 1.03. Melee weapons are more powerful, you can even melee with guns, player bodies stay longer. Although, you shouldn’t be able to run back to your body. You were carrying base supplies in the middle of Cherno at night. Ya fucked up! More than likely, the zeds heard you, rather than saw you. They also changed the aggro so that they run to your approx location. It much easier to escape zeds now, that it was a couple months ago. Also, the game runs really well on a half decent PC, and you don’t need to spend anywhere near $2000 to run it. Might be worth considering. The next console update will be 1.04, I believe, and the devs have said there will be performance improvements too. Perhaps you should wait until then? The good thing about DayZ is you can take breaks and still enjoy the game months later. DayZ on a shadow PC? Even if it did work, you’d get fucked by the latency, surely?
