    For PC Players

    Duping hasn't been much of a problem on PC for a while. Most serious players play on private servers where duping doesn't really happen. The changes they made in 1.04 certainly make ghosting impossible. Again, private servers aren't affected by this because it's one character per server. Since console are getting private servers, I would say stick with them and you should rarely notice any problems. Occasional problems will still happen on official servers (they recently said that duping will never be stopped completely) But it's so rare, you won't notice it. You won't likely see the 'tent cities' again.

    @Acids HouseFair enough, you can only go by what you've experienced, as can I. Bear in mind that PC had its fair share of shitty community members, back when duping was rife. I think it's harsh to judge the Xbox community based on Official servers, because you all kinds of idiots on there. More serious players tend to play Community. There are also servers on PC I avoid like the plague, due to their reputation. I only really play on a handful that suit me. Also, one of best server owners on PC has previously said they'd be interested in running an Xbox server, so I think the future is bright. As you say, time will tell 👍

    @Acids House That's a... Unique opinion you have there. I play primarily on community servers and have never experienced any of the problems you are talking about. And to say people use private servers to do away with PVP and other things they don't like. I'm sorry, you completely lost me there. My favourite community servers are vanilla. The great thing about private servers is the variety. DayZ is a game that can be played in many different ways. There will always be a server out there that caters to your needs. It sounds to me like you're making a big deal about duping, but you also don't want servers to policed... Don't get it mate.

    From what they said, they had pretty much reached the limits of the old engine. The new engine makes the game look a million times better. Performance is miles ahead. There is obviously still a lot of tweaking to do, but it will only improve. Just have a look at the difference between early builds of the old engine and .62 (the last legacy build). I can only imagine how good this new engine will look and perform in a few more years. Console ports were always on the cards, so while changing engines, they made the gameplay mechanics more console-friendly. Arguably, it's better though. Rather than click a mouse to perform an action, you move items to your hands and hold down a button. It makes the player feel more in control. Also, in response to the other guy. I don't think it's a case of them not being able to put the same features on the new engine. It's more that it will take time. As the last status update said, it was more difficult than they imagined, so they have had to dedicate a lot of their resources to optimising and performance.

    @Duck SoloSeparate map. The most likely rumour is that it will be Livonia, which is a map recently added to Arma 3. Have a look at this video. Most of the assets are from DayZ.

    Duping is barely an issue on PC anymore. Also, most serious players use single hive community servers. Where behaviour can be policed, and bans can be issued. Since private servers are coming to console, I think the duping heyday will be over.

    Also, it’s not likely to come to Xbox. From what I gather, it was a system required by Sony. I agree that if BI come up with an in-game ID check, they should remove the current one from from PS4.

    Yes, but it’s not like the old ‘check pulse’ feature. You don’t see player names, just how strong/weak their pulse is.

    Definitely dropped frames. 1.04 should land next week, and the performance is supposed to be much improved. Also, don’t accidentally fire at the airfield 😉

    So what I’m getting from that is heli crashes last 40ish minutes and there can be up to 10 on the map at once? Is that right, or am I reading it wrong? Also, are those standard settings you’d see in vanilla? I thought the usual was 30 minutes, and 3 on the map at once.

    They have actually talked about this kind of thing before. Dog tags were mentioned, I think, or a diary. Diary would be cool if you could add your own notes to it. We definitely need some kind of ID system too. I think it’s kinda cool to find out other players’ names. In some situations, it would be necessary, to report issues. As long as it’s not done like the PS4 version!
  19. Yeah, the clarification on the status report definitely made me feel better. The fact that they are currently working on vaulting is great. As long as one major feature follows another, I’ll be happy. Also, a large portion of the player base is on console now, so it’s only fair that their game runs well. I guess that’s the main reason for the focus on bugs, performance, etc. I mean, they have, arguably, paid for continued development. Also, if the game’s run well on console, imagine how much smoother it could be on PC! It’s a new era for the game, and it’s in a very good place, right now. Let’s hope they keep it going.

  21. Today was awful. They really shouldn’t do any more status reports 😂 On reflection though, let’s wait and see what happens in 1.05. If it follows the same pattern as the last few patches it will land on expy in early August. Trust me though, I’m not forgetting the contents of that list any time soon! Also, I checked Bohemia’s ‘careers’ section a couple of days ago, and saw they were hiring for both Martin and Baty’s position. I would guess that development is not wrapping up any time soon if they are about to take on another 2 full-time community support managers.

    @ImpulZ I actually knew that kind of stuff about the medical system, it was more regarding the symptoms (e.g water loss, etc) that I was confused about. This new sickness you get with dirty rags currently has no effect, is that right? Can you at least say you haven’t written off the complex medical system, forever? I don’t mind waiting for it. But watching DayZ videos years ago, broken bones was one of the features that got me interested in the game.

    @IMT Yeah, I’m worried. I hope they haven’t taken a decision to cut back features because the game has gained popularity in its current state. They need to keep working hard. I CAN forgive them if they want the performance as good as possible before adding the other stuff, but it feels like more of a console issue than a PC one. I guess PC players are the minority now, and it’s only fair for those console players to have a working game. DayZ without the promise of that extra flavour gameplay/features, will soon get stale, in my opinion.
