Is duct tape getting a nerf at some point? It’s been confirmed that the glitch fix is coming, so no need to discuss that here. But even without the glitch, its powers of repair are insane! My suggestions would be to make it so you can only repair a particular item ONCE with duct tape. Thoughts?
-
Yes, all good points. When the glitch is fixed, they will definitely need to rebalance things. I like the idea of the repair kit uses being increased (apart from duct tape, obviously). Also, perhaps some kind of repair box. A container that can fit certain repair kits, but massively reduce the space they take up.

Keys would be nice, so we could lock cars. Then again, I stumbled upon a fully kitted car just outside the airfield once. It was so exhilarating, driving it away, thinking that the owner was about to pop me any second. That feeling shouldn’t necessarily be taken away from players. I don’t think the devs want us to over-hoard our stuff anyway. I’m sure Nespesney said that things like bases should always be at risk of being broken into. Look at some of the servers that have tweaked base raiding, making it harder. You have to hold left mouse button for up to 20 minutes on some of them! How is that fun gameplay? All for the sake of people, essentially, having ‘gear fear’. It’s only loot, at the end of the day (more relevant if cars were easier to get going, I guess).

I’ve actually been playing on The Red Zone who use this exact mod, and it works very well. My personal preference is first person, too. But we all like different things. That’s why we have a choice of servers, people!
-
People like 3rd person, nothing wrong with it. 3rd person is arguably the ‘iconic’ DayZ perspective.

Best thing to do is remove any ruined parts, ASAP. Cars are far too delicate, though. One tiny bump and the radiator gets ruined. I’d much rather they make the engine parts stronger, and make the body and wheels be the only areas at risk of being severely damaged.
-
Yes! It’s bound to happen surely? I mean, rotten food was in the legacy engine, right? Fruit, veg and meat shouldn’t last very long. I also notice there is a refrigerator in the game files. The description says it makes your food last longer. Didn’t rice severely dehydrate you pre .63, too? I’m sure I saw a video of someone nearly dying after being force fed 3 bags of rice... lol. Powdered milk is another one. Would love to be able to create proper meals, too. A stew for example, you could cut up some meat, mushrooms, veg, etc. and boil it in a cooking pot. I guess there are bigger fish to fry (lolol) at the moment.

How very altruistic of you 😂

Devs please, don't push the 1.05 stable during summer holidays
ThePugman replied to Liven_28's topic in General Discussion
Whilst I do hope 1.05 stays in experimental for longer than recent patches, they really shouldn’t base their decision on the possibility of modders being on holiday. I’m sorry, but that’s laughably ridiculous. Even if a modder WERE on holiday, don’t you think they’d take a laptop with them? The onus is on the modders, and the servers running mods, not Bohemia. -
You can’t have it all your own way. To see at night, you’ve either got to sacrifice your helmet, or your hand slot. It’s called risk-reward. Without that kind of trade off the game would be boring.
-
Listen to you. It’s survival game, and is known for being brutal. You’re seriously complaining about an hour of night? Perhaps it’s not for you? There’s plenty of light sources you can use. Get prepared.
-
Pen and paper needs to come back. Perhaps not for public. Or maybe have a word filter for public servers. Community servers would be able to police their own notes. Notes would be so good on the more rp-like servers.

Ever thought about adding blank rounds to the game? I feel it could add an interesting element. Giving a stranger a weapon filled with blanks, for example. Also, imagine suiciding with blanks, and your character pretends to be dead. I think a ‘fake death’ emote would be very cool too. You could pretend to fall down dead as a last resort, whilst being fired at. This would draw players out from their hidden positions. Also, slightly unrelated, but I think you should allow ‘check pulse’ for dead bodies. Just seeing ‘survivor’ as an indication someone is dead, is cheap meta, in my opinion.
-
Just my opinion, dude.
-
Looking at the above vid, I guess it’s possible, but I’d rather they focus on all the missing content before doing stuff like that.
-
@bent.toe All of those features are mods on PC. If mods come to console then, why not? But as others have stated, they will never be in the vanilla game,
-
It’s to do with the way party chat is set up on Xbox. The toggle-mic function was causing issues with it. They decided to disable it until they find a solution.

@ImpulZ Thanks for the lengthy response, dude. Actually, after writing my post, I did think about the fact that players could spawn anywhere from Balota to Berizinho (I presume?), which makes teleporting to specific places quite difficult. I suppose we won’t know the true scale of the effects until 1.04 hits console (due to sheer numbers of public players) so it may be too early to criticise, anyway. I do agree with @Deadboy (DayZ) who says we should be allowed to swap servers unpenalised ONCE every few hours, or even once day. Also, I’ve seen the mechanic kick in when there have been several days between play sessions. That seems strange. MrBlackout, for example, played last Friday. When he played again the following week (Tuesday), he spawned in on the coast. This seems unnecessary for the purpose it serves. It should reset after at least 24 hours. Your post definitely helps explain the reasons behind your decisions. You’d be amazed at how helpful that is to us players. We don’t like being left in the dark on big changes like this.

Proper MOONLIGHT is POSSIBLE! [VIDEO]
ThePugman replied to 0.64 Freerider's topic in General Discussion
It looks very good. I wouldn’t want every night to be like that though. Does the moon actually go through a proper cycle of full, half, quarter, etc. Be cool if the light could reflect the changing moon, so we get pitch black night when the moon is covered. I fear that it would be too much of a big job, though. -
Hi ImpulZ, can you please forward these 2 questions to the devs?
ThePugman replied to 0.64 Freerider's topic in General Discussion
@0.64 Freerider Definitely! It all comes back to the idea of being able to read players, to see if they are a threat. If someone is looting a body, and it takes them a couple of seconds to come out of the looting animation, that makes them much less of a threat. Maybe more people would consider holding them up? I know I certainly would. I had no idea ‘dragging’ bodies is an officially planned feature. That’s so fucking cool, and yeah, it would make so much sense to release together with a looting animation. Gonna have to read me that feature list, I think. -

@0.64 Freerider I just read the feedback. Love the idea of animations for going in your bag. Let’s hope it’s something that’s in the works. I guess all the main design decisions are complete now that Peter has gone, so it’s hopefully time for more content! -

ThePugman replied to 0.64 Freerider's topic in General Discussion
For me, I’ve never noticed items going in random places when I put them back with the hotbar. Plus I think dragging is so quick and effective on PC, that it’s not too bothersome when it does happen. The only time it irks me is when it stops me putting something away, but at that point, I’m probably carrying too much shit, anyway LUL -
Yeah, I realise he meant that, but what I mean is the best way to bury an item that is hidden by the tree is to cut it down and then bury it.
-
Trees don’t work too well with items at the moment. The only way is to cut the tree down, and dig in the area the tree was. When the server restarts, the tree will grow back.
