Feels bad when I've found like 10 boxes of nails in about an hour. RNG plus getting used to the kind of areas they spawn in has helped in my case.
On that not I have been across the entire map and to every major town and not seen a single wheel for any vehicle. It's just how it goes.
I personally feel base building and cars are a waste of time unless you're playing on official servers with like 10 friends to help out. Saying that I've fixed up cars back in alpha and it does feel great to have a car on DayZ and to wizz around the map without a care for your safety.
It seems like BI are trying to incorporate some way of being able to distract zombies, like with the throw-able rocks. Sounds seem to alert zombies in different ways too from some zombies going full agro to some just wondering in to where the gun shots were. Sound suppressors are also interesting as zombies can hear the suppressed shot from further away than a player can.
I love the audio in this game. I think they've done really well with DayZ's gun sounds. I will be experimenting more with how the sounds operate in the game.
Also the lighting. The lighting in DayZ is brilliantly done in my opinion. Not over the top but realistic and dynamic. I am curious of the effects of light with zombies, whether they can detect light in their visual cones and to what extent.
Yeah my monitor auto brightens when it turns to night and I can see fine at night. If I turn that feature off then night is pitch black.
I keep it off either way because I prefer the immersion and actually giving a reason for night to be more difficult.
Also tip for others, make sure your room is dark, so lights off and curtains closed etc so that you light isn't bouncing off your monitor screen, this should help playing at night.
Damn put a warning on that video. My ear drums are now none existent.
Tbh it made me laugh my ass off. I kinda like the idea that it's not a bug but in fact a jumpscare. I'm so glad I haven't had that happen to me.
I thought this would be about the lagging background audio for the wind, trees etc that seems to happen at random.
