That is true, now that I think about that more deeply. It is hard to hollow out a tree than chopping it. Still reckon there should be another method of storing items, that is less than tents but more easy to gain access/place. Using the trees seem like a good choice, just a method that would work with storing items. What about using a shovel to dig a hole next to a tree or under it, with able to store a bag full of stuff into the hole and cover it up, could have a slight pile of dirt to faintly show for those lucky enough to spot it. I don't know about the nature hollow trees because they would most likely be location fixed, which then they would be spots that people would check often.
