660 hours? Damn. I probably won't even have that much play time a year from now. Any one would be lucky to get that much play time from any game, let alone an unfinished one... And no, nowhere near bored.

Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year

Is 3.5+ years of development, up until the optimization and bug-squashing phase really "so early"? The game is practically finished at that point. I think you have a sensational mindset. -
Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
t1337dude replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
The idea is that he's with the project until it is mostly completed. Do you need Rocket to do this bug testing and optimizing too? Christ, you people are fucking ridiculous. -
It's a good thing. Less hackers this way.

Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?
t1337dude replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
We're controller people, not tanks - right? Why shouldn't the player in the game behave more like a person - rather than us adapting to the player who moves around like a tank? Because that's almost what it feels like. I feel like I'm controlling some tank or ridiculous Gundam mech that has trouble moving due to its massive weight. -
Yes yes...come to NWAF....there is no one there....I promise...

Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?
t1337dude replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
The controls do suck. The mouse movement is literally in its own dimension of control. There's almost no correlation between where I move my mouse on my mousepad compared to where my character looks around on the screen. Worst of all - commands will fucking queue up! So if you hit the wrong hotkey and you meant to pull out your GUN instead of your AXE, and then hit your GUN hot key again because nothing is happening - your guy will eventually pull out his gun and then put it away again because it turns out your press was recognized. I can live with the lack of 1:1 mouse control, but the fact that the hotkeys aren't responsive, often don't work on first press, and queue up is nuts. They need to fix it. -
Almost 80 hours of gameplay (all spent doing PvP in high-pop servers) and haven't seen a single hacker. They don't seem very common. Considering I spend half my time AFKing in a bush at the NWAF - I think a hacker would've capped me by now. I'm convinced a lot of "hacking" that people think they see are actually caused by lag and other glitches. If someone has a red-link on their screen (which comes and goes for me pretty often), they can pretty much run around and do whatever they want because the character won't be synced with your actions. And then when the red-link disappears they will instantly synchronize, causing a teleport. Also - you can literally run through walls in this game. Just run at a wall for long enough and you will eventually pass through it. But I've seen a couple Youtube videos of hackers. Doesn't necessarily mean every one else wishes to get their copies banned by downloading hacks.

I have no issues with the melee combat. Rocket said the combat could use tweaking but this is largely how it's going to be due to engine limitations. Once the damages are better balanced and weapon swings arcs are improved, I'll have zero problems with the combat. I don't see how people are having trouble swinging the axe...it's pretty fucking easy. If you ever get hit in melee combat while using any weapon - then there must be something extremely wrong with your hand-eye coordination. All you do is strafe around the zombies and click while aiming at their heads. The swings aim in an arc so it's pretty difficult to miss...

I was sitting in a tree at the NWAF and was spying on a couple of geared up dudes who were hanging out at the middle roof of the fire station. I was dicking around with them by making noises into the mic and making threats over direct chat. They both climbed up to the ladder towards the roof of the tower for cover. I could tell they were afraid because there had no idea where I was - yet I had a pretty good glimpse of them from where I was hiding and they were scanning around like mad. Then, out of nowhere, one of the guys rolls right off the roof. I mock his buddy until he disconnects. Scored a Mosin with 80 shots, bipod, compensator, and Pristine LRS. Pretty nice considering all I had was a lousy magnum! Anyone else ever here have a similar experience?
-
He did make a mistake, but that's the point :P. He was rolling around trying to observe me, and failed by falling off due to panic. Had I not said anything - he would have lived. Thus my words were responsible for my demise (in a very circumstantial sort of way!). This guy was decked in loot, so I guarantee falling off wasn't something he intended!

Dean isn't trying to make a simulator, or game that's hard just for the sake of being hard. A semblance of balance isn't something that he's looking to ditch just because of a "lol its more fun because its harder!" mentality.

If you're bleeding and unconscious and you disconnect - you should die. If you're bandaged, unconscious, and you disconnect - you should live. Why? Because if A) The game crashes B ) The server crashes/restarts C) Your computer crashes D) Your internet drops While your friends are busy trying to get your blood/saline and an epi-pen, then you're dead for no good reason. I just spent an hour sitting here unconscious while my friend was grabbing me an epi-pen and saline bag. Literally 40 seconds before he got back to my unconscious body, my computer randomly restarted from an error I've never seen before in my life. From now on I'm just going to D/C and run back to my corpse because it seems a lot safer, easier, and faster at this point. Agreements? Disagreements?

[C@$] 24/7 Daylight No Crap - Hacking clan server? (Screenshot)
t1337dude posted a topic in General Discussion
I just logged into a server (somehow literally inside of a firehouse), and I've stumbled upon something interesting. There's a server up called [C@$] 24/7 Daylight No Crap, with always a bunch of clan members on the server. They sit in the NWAF, in the Firehouse, and seemingly spawn loot for themselves and their clan mates. I believe they could be using various other hacks as well. I have documented screenshots of this behavior. If anyone wants to go there - they're sitting there doing this, right now. EDIT: Maybe they aren't hacking, maybe it was just was just an odd situation that let me observe suspiciously odd behavior. Next time I'll get it on video. -

Upon closer examination, it is a sawed-off shotgun. I hadn't seen one before, nor did I know it could fit in the back pack. Perhaps they aren't doing anything at all then. I wish I got the entirety of it on Fraps or something - just so maybe we could figure out what they were doing. It looked like they were trading gear - but doing it perpetually for lengthy periods of time. I couldn't really figure out what they were doing or why they were doing it. And then my attack was particularly what made me suspicious - isn't the Fire axe supposed to be a relatively deadly weapon? I caught them off guard and hit one guy 3 times, and others multiple times - but didn't see anyone go down before I did. As I stated in another thread - I haven't seen personal evidence of hacks yet. I thought this was finally my evidence, but obviously that isn't the case now. I'm used to admin abuse on DayZ (from the mod), so I assumed that this was some form of admin abuse carrying over to DayZ SA> -
Disconnecting While Unconscious Shouldn't Kill You!
t1337dude replied to t1337dude's topic in General Discussion
I see the point but I don't completely agree with this. I've had server restarts kill me during unconsciousness by kicking me randomly after rejoining or by giving me a random error. In fact, I get kicked from servers all the time from various errors right after joining, which typically leaves me to wait 5 minutes before I can join another. This is a SUPER SUPER small suggestion so I don't expect much attention to be brought to it. It's not a big deal at all. I'm only making this thread because this is the 2nd time this has happened to me, but only after 70+ hours of play time. Just feels a bit on the lame side and I think it could use some tweaking. Combat logging is bad - so I'd never want to make that possible again. But if we can differentiate between combat logging and a medical situation just like any other - I'd prefer if they were treated as different situations. -

You didn't read my post. Read it yet again. If you don't understand, let me point it out to you. You can't be knocked out and log out to wait for your friends because you'd be bleeding - thus dead upon log out. You would have to have had medical attention at the point you've been knocked down (bandages). -
Disconnecting While Unconscious Shouldn't Kill You!

Every single person's computer occasionally restarts for one reason or another. People with perfect computers that have never crashed randomly before are absolutely in the minority - not the other way around. Tons of servers restart in short intervals. Servers crash pretty frequently on their own as well. Tons of people have game crashes unrelated to the state of their computer as well. Really - server restarts is the only good reason anyone needs. Many servers are on 2-hour restart intervals or less. If you need more reasons than that - you're being argumentative just for the sake, but crashing and internet problems is real and happens to the majority of people (at least rarely). I mean, what if I just want to log off and play later? Is there a good reason that if you're knocked unconscious, but are stable in health - that you should die? I can't think of a single one... Why, are you blind? If you're bleeding, you've just been shot. If you aren't bleeding - you're been bandaged. Not hard to understand - it simply differentiates between a combat logger or not. It also leaves game crashes. It also leaves computer crashes. It also leaves for any occasion that someone might want to leave and come back later - because being knocked unconscious usually sets up for a lengthy follow-up of playtime if no medical supplies are onhand. -

It's a little painful that you guys can't read - so let me reiterate the very first sentence of this thread for you. Combat loggers would be bleeding when they log out, therefore they would die. C'mon guys, this isn't THAT hard to understand. -

I was watching these guys for awhile. They would just run around the fire house and pick up and drop gear. They did this for 15 minutes, all 3 of them. Then another clan member showed up briefly later, and did the same thing. I mean, it's not like they were just throwing weapons and gear around all willy-nilly, but there was certainly a suspicious amount of extra loot on the floor. Why was it there? How did it get there? Pay close attention to the guy on the right and his feet.... And then half a second later... Where did that gun on the floor by his feet magically come from? Wasn't there a second ago, was it? Definitely not on his back or from his hands... -
Whats Being Done To Combat ESP Hacks?
t1337dude replied to dusty_nuttles's topic in General Discussion
Considering DayZ's popularity is ramping back up again after SA released, it might be worth getting back into this. Unfortunately I lost all my website work, but considering my experience it wouldn't be difficult for me to start back up. If anyone is up for a joint-venture, send me a PM! I could use an apprentice that has experience in some of the following areas (SEO experience, web design, Photoshop+art experience, game recording experience, reading+writing skills, and what's most necessary: a genuine desire to put away hackers). Here's the basic plan... 1) Create a real, convincing "hack" website with wordpress 2) Create a fake website, a website that a CPA Advertising agency would approve (because hack sites AREN'T approved) 3) Implement tool where traffic from *** site gets redirected to fake website, which redirects them to advertisements/surveys, and then redirects them to their "hack". 3) Use good SEO to get DayZ Hacks Website to one of Google's top spots 4) Purchase negative SEO for real hacking sites at top of Google charts (about $5 per "hit"). This will cause the legit hack sites to disappear from Google's search. 5) Maintain site and make $$$ Obviously, as I mentioned previously, I'm capable of doing all these steps. In fact, I could have this site up and running and at the top of Google in under 3 weeks. But it's a bit of work and perhaps I could use help doing individual steps better. If anyone is serious about making money and putting hackers away - let me know. I can't get into specific details on what I'd have you doing, but my pay is based on merit. My last website made between $150-$250 a month (~400-800 fake hacks downloaded per month). If done better (more convincingly) and more towards the peak of DayZ's success (rather than when I did it when the mod was dwindling in population), it could be a $600+/mo easy. The website doesn't need to have a real reputation for legitimate hack downloads, because that's not the point. The point is that it's at the top of Google's search for the keywords they type in, so lazy and dumb wannabe hackers get funneled to it. This plan isn't illegal, but it is against the ToS of most CPA advertising companies - meaning it's "black hat". It's only against the ToS of CPA advertising companies because they want to uphold a positive reputation with the advertisers they work with. The real fact of the matter is that CPA companies don't really care how the money is made - as long as we aren't filling out the surveys with bots or fake information or damaging their reputaiton. -
What settings are you using? No computer can fully max this game AFAIK - so you need to think about the settings you use.
