Niche or not, who gives a shit? Everything is in a niche of some sort. This one just happens to be HUGELY popular. Why are you comparing this game to MMORPGs? It's not an MMORPG. Get a clue before writing lengthy posts. Once we can have 200+ players in a server, then you can start talking about MMO's. Once this game is an RPG, we can start talking about RPGs. But it's not an MMO, it's not an RPG, and it's not an MMORPG. It's a simulator. Get it straight, please. To the guy who said "Opinion's can't be wrong, but yours is" - you couldn't be any further from the truth. Opinions can be wrong. They can be misinformed, miscalculated, or rooted purely in ignorance. There is clearly a difference between a credible, substantial opinion versus an opinion that is rooted in bullshit.

Security Vulnerabilities fixed by Patch #2 and Character wipe
t1337dude replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Did anyone here not get wiped? I spawned with all my gear that I collected on the 18th just fine. -
Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
t1337dude replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
It's really just about Rocket trying to make the best game he can make. Giving it away for free in Alpha doesn't let him do that, does it? They obviously need money to make the game. But they don't need money badly enough that they'll go to a publisher and compromise the quality of the game. It's not that complicated why Rocket chose to do what he did - it's obviously the smartest choice to make (and the one he had to make). -
Charging people money to help you "make" a game....
t1337dude replied to jBrick's topic in General Discussion
Let's see... Fund the game by fans who care about the game and the final result of the project or Fund the game by a publisher who wants to make money at the expense of everyone else GEE, I wonder what option is better? Lol... I can't even believe people are complaining about it. Are people that dense? -
Tried to jump back into DayZ...
t1337dude replied to Target Practice (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This game isn't for you. Play something else. Really, there will always be players who KOS, irregardless of what you carry. It's fun to kill people. Get over it dude, this game isn't real life. -
With this new Choose Spawn feature, Dayz Turned into CoD
t1337dude replied to TheWizard14's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Being able to choose spawn owns. It eliminates tedium and makes the game way more fun. I see absolutely no difference in anything so far other than the convenience of being able to choose the spawn of my desire - the bandits of electro and cherno are the same as they always have been. -
DayZ 1.7.8 "Choose Spawn", Thoughts?
t1337dude replied to -Se7eN-'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It's really about time they added this. People don't have to waste their time killing themselves endlessly to get the general spawn location they want and it's easier to group with friends (but not too easy). -
I much prefer DayZero to any other form of DayZ at the moment. I just wish they gave us a DayZero version of Namalsk as well - that map was extremely enjoyable and unique in its playstyle. I honestly don't think I've had as much fun in DayZ as I've had on that map. But as many have already stated - I really enjoy DayZero for its performance, anti-hacking measures, subtle map improvements/variations, new weapons, and a bunch of populated first-person servers.

Where do you hop when you're trying to find a Ghillie?
t1337dude posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've tried Devil's Castle and I'm lucky if I can find one for every couple hours of hopping. If you're looking specifically for the ghillie suit, where do you typically look? I know they have the best chance to spawn at Heli Crashes but due to their random nature, I only bother checking them while heading towards and from Devil's Castle. -
Requesting authentication 1,7,5,1 version

The dealio for me is: hive servers don't work, private servers do work. -
Who else LIKES the new update?
t1337dude replied to MissSweeney's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The new update sucks because a bunch of players, including me, can't play the game because of some stupid authentication error. Any patch that restricts a large number of people from playing the game they own needs some work. -

Could you be a little more specific? There is no dayz.bikey contained within the latest DayZ patch download. Where are you getting this file from? -
Something went wrong disconnect and try again.
t1337dude replied to dr mailman's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
What an incredibly lame problem. Reinstalling didn't fix, so thanks for that big waste of time. I was playing fine just the other day, and I haven't changed anything since then, so.... -
Great, got banned for what I assume is a false positive and I can't play. What a list guys...hope it's worth all the false positives for such a small accumulated list.

Discussion of the standalone defecation\poo feature
t1337dude replied to Dancing.Russian.Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Man, I love DayZ and I really appreciate Rocket's innovation when it comes to games. That's right, I said it, Rocket is innovating games with the poo feature. -
Combat loggers now get replaced with bots!

Did Namalsk get it right?
t1337dude replied to crockett (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Namalsk is the most enjoyable PvP map by far. And DayZ consists mostly of PvP at the moment, I'd say it's the best map. Chenarus is far too empty and Lingor isn't as popular as it used to be. So I stick to Namalsk right now. -
If the bandit skins are still in the standalone I'm going to be pissed.
t1337dude replied to electroban's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the system put in place right now is absolute crap. It doesn't solve KoS in the least, nor does it do a good job of identifying particularly helpful or harmful people. On top of it all - it makes absolutely no sense. Survival isn't necessarily banditry, it's just survival. -
The Double Barreled Shotgun exceeds my expectations.
t1337dude replied to Tabris07's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've killed players with the Double Barreled Shotgun in at least 2 different circumstances I can remember. First one was when I was newer to the game. I managed to break my legs earlier on in my life and crawled into a nearby town. The first weapon I found was the DB shotgun so I took it, and I intended to get a kill with it. I slowly crawled further into town, and eventually hear gunshots coming from a school nearby. Slowly but surely, I crawl to the side-ladder of the school, and crawl onto the roof. I heard footsteps coming from below so I waited patiently above. Luckily enough, the bugger comes up to the roof and I shoot him in the head with a slug. It instantly killed him. More recently on Lingor, I just spawned and picked up a DB shotgun with some pellets. I was running from village to village until I got interrupted by a firefight occuring on the 2nd level of one of those big clay buildings. One of the players kills the other and I make my move by sprinting in. I sprinted all the way up the stairs and around the building up until I came face to face with an M4A1 armed bandit. One shot to the chest instantly killed the guy, and he managed to break my bones and take away 6000 of my hp. Thankfully he had meat and morphine. :) -
Well, I managed to almost play a full hour without crashing using "Low" settings for texture memory, as well as the -winxp and -cpuCount=2
-
I got it to work using only the -winxp parameter, but I still got the "Receiving" error.
-
I can't even boot to the main menu with those launch parameters, everything looks screwed up.
-
I've had this problem for so long that I don't remember what the patch was. I haven't tried experimenting with any launch parameters. I will give it a shot and see if I have any better luck. Something tells me though that I won't figure out the solution to this issue.
-
I've had this problem for 2 months. It won't be fixed and nobody cares. I've been playing the game perfectly on my desktop for months, and ever since some patch that came out a couple of months ago, I haven't been able to play since. I keep peering the forums but nobody knows a solution.

Can't play anymore...too many game-breaking issues! (Receiving...)
t1337dude posted a topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I can't play for longer than 5 minutes without the game crashing to the desktop or without my game getting sent to a "Receiving,,," screen indefinitely. The game worked fine for me a few days ago, so what gives?
