I dislike not being able to pick which general area/city I want to spawn. Makes it time consuming to group up with friends.

To obtain higher FPS in Dayz you must obtain money and buy better graphics processing unit with said money. Better yet, ration some of that money so you can pay for food to enjoy while you play DayZ.

Namalsk had some and it was amazing. We can only pray for its return. I thought it was a lot more fun than Chernarus, and complimented it quite well...

Recently published benchmark comparisons (like this one for example) go to show Win 10 offers little to no performance benefit over Windows 81. Anyone significant increase in FPS probably isn't due to the OS. It's just placebo. People vaguely have the idea their games are running faster due to a new OS. The reality is if they ran clean installs of both OS, Windows 10 wouldn't offer any noticeable performance increase.

If it seems too unlikely to happen, it probably is. Hackers on the other hand exist in abundance.

Haven't played since .52, but when I did, I'll just say PSO1 scopes, grenades, M1911 clips, etc. were tons easier to find than a friggin hacksaw.

It's been a problem since .51. Check here Unless they fixed the CTD's, but AFAIK they didn't make any note of it

There seems to be a multiple things that can cause a character being lost to questionable means. I'm sure that there's no single solution - it seems like servers are quick to generate new character data, replacing old data, so maybe if there was a little more care with how character data was handled (backups?). I've lost my character data to that bloody red error message more times than I can count. I honestly wouldn't expect a fix until beta, so until then I wouldn't get too attached your character.

I think ArmA 2 is a great FPS foundation for DayZ, and I think idealistically when the game is finished, I believe it will be the best FPS ever made. Why? - Social interaction in a "MMO" setting brings a lot of diversity as well as a dynamic nature to the gameplay - Commitment to realism, leading to a deep yet intuitive experience - Tons of elements of character customization for those who crave it - More items and weapons than most games - Detailed, realistic gunplay (most games lack proper bullet speeds, bullet drop, recoil, etc.) at both short and long ranges There are people who might not find this game appealing, which is fine, but for those who enjoy this type of game, or all games (like myself), this game is a great concept with a long way to go on the execution. But so far, despite all the bugs, it's still pretty damn fun to play. Killing other players in this game is really satisfying. I can't say the same for other games.

DayZ can lose character data without death, so it's possible you weren't killed and you were purely unlucky. I've logged out in low-pop servers inside of sheds out in the middle of nowhere and logged back in to find my character gone. Unless I'm in some sort of rush, I usually only log out in areas that are completely improbable for another character to stumble upon mine within the next 30 seconds, but it doesn't always help. If you feel like you were killed by a "good stalker", I'd say it's far more likely that the servers lost your data. Having said that, it's perfectly possible to get killed while logging out or logging in. I just logged in a few minutes ago in that town with the giant tower-like building and found myself logging in right next to someone who was in the process of logging out. He had tons of goodies and needless to say I capped him :p Probably one of the weirdest coincidences I've encountered in this game. A million different rooms and we both chose to log in and out in the same one...creepy...

Does this mean the development plans have been extended a year? Could've sworn I read everywhere that the target was beta access by beginning of 2015, and the game should be finished by the end of 2015...

I've tried almost everything, but there is no solid solution to this issue. People usually say switching to a different server immediately after you notice you lost your character is the trick, but this doesn't work for me. People also say to avoid freshly-restarted servers, yet I've gotten the problem when sticking to strictly 35+ player servers. The problem is so bad that I literally can't play the game anymore because I lost all my progress to this bug every single time I play. I wish I could say I was exaggerating the issue, but I'm not, it literally happens seriously every time I play the game. That's why I don't play the game anymore and I just stick to the forums. A few patches ago this problem didn't even exist for me, not I can't even play without encountering it...

They obviously care about major game breaking bugs that effect the player's ability to test the alpha. They've fixed many in the past, and many that don't necessarily break the game but still have a major impact on gameplay experience (like mouse acceleration not turning off). You're confusing the term "primary" with "exclusive". There's no reason why they couldn't look into fixing this - tons of people report this problem, it's one of the most commonly reported problems, and it's obviously a big one.

Godly, I supported this suggestion long ago. Eating people is a valid survival tactic. Don't like it? We both know that they can tweak the game's food spawn so that hunger is a much bigger issue, making cannibalism viable in tough situations. Not new. This can happen just by hanging out on anywhere above ground level. Don't stay above ground level for extended periods of time.

This happens to me every time I play. But it's not exclusively caused by rejoining servers too early. I've joined full servers before and still had this happen to me (precisely because I was avoiding newly-reset servers). It's going to keep happening to you. All we can do is bring more attention to the issue until it's fixed. I see a lot more people encountering it - hopefully the awareness will start spreading. I was desperately hoping it was going to be fixed by that patch, but I guess we're going to have to deal with this bug for another month...

It's a major game breaking bug that hasn't been labeled high-priority yet. I'm 100% certain that it's caused by rejoining a server too early after a reset (which is slightly ambiguous), but not exclusively. I've joined servers that were full and still experienced this bug. I don't own any servers, yet my character gets lost to this bug practically every time I play. Best thing we can do is draw attention to the issue so it's fixed. Personally, I'm done playing the game and am sticking to the forums until it's fixed - it makes the game perfectly not fun to play.
