I dislike not being able to pick which general area/city I want to spawn. Makes it time consuming to group up with friends.

To obtain higher FPS in Dayz you must obtain money and buy better graphics processing unit with said money. Better yet, ration some of that money so you can pay for food to enjoy while you play DayZ.

Why are there no basements and caves in DayZ?

Namalsk had some and it was amazing. We can only pray for its return. I thought it was a lot more fun than Chernarus, and complimented it quite well... -
TIL that DayZ runs much smoother on Windows 10.
t1337dude replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Recently published benchmark comparisons (like this one for example) go to show Win 10 offers little to no performance benefit over Windows 81. Anyone significant increase in FPS probably isn't due to the OS. It's just placebo. People vaguely have the idea their games are running faster due to a new OS. The reality is if they ran clean installs of both OS, Windows 10 wouldn't offer any noticeable performance increase. -
I hope the renderer hits this year. Could've sworn last status update regarding the timeline of its implementation indicated progress in Q1 2015 - but we're already entering Q2 with no signs of a new renderer soon approaching. Not trying to complain or anything, I've just been taking my break from the game (playability of the content really lessened for me in the last 5 patches) and look forward to playing it again.

So something wierd just happened... hacks or bad luck?
t1337dude replied to Hagon94's topic in General Discussion
If it seems too unlikely to happen, it probably is. Hackers on the other hand exist in abundance. -
Haven't played since .52, but when I did, I'll just say PSO1 scopes, grenades, M1911 clips, etc. were tons easier to find than a friggin hacksaw.

If the devs added Namalsk as a playable map i would cry of happiness

I was going to make this thread but I had to wait for the posting cooldown and then forgot! Thank you for making this thread. Except I was going to try to poll-arize it. I'll just repost my post from the status update The idea of bringing back Namalsk would excite me greatly. It would add *so* much to the game. It was a shame it received an unpopular update in the mod when it was popular which split up the community and eventually killed it. It deserves a return. It's a great counterbalance to Chernarus - with much more focus on extreme temperatures, verticality, and chokepoints. I much honestly preferred Namalsk as a whole. It had so many fun elements to it! -

It's been a problem since .51. Check here Unless they fixed the CTD's, but AFAIK they didn't make any note of it

Do random character resets still happen?
t1337dude replied to george_smiley's topic in General Discussion
There seems to be a multiple things that can cause a character being lost to questionable means. I'm sure that there's no single solution - it seems like servers are quick to generate new character data, replacing old data, so maybe if there was a little more care with how character data was handled (backups?). I've lost my character data to that bloody red error message more times than I can count. I honestly wouldn't expect a fix until beta, so until then I wouldn't get too attached your character. -
Thank you for A) recognizing the issue and B ) providing a solution. I couldn't locate any logs at all pertaining to my DayZ crashes (doesn't show up in Event Viewer) so I couldn't provide anything helpful. I'm definitely going to try this and report back. I'm just not sure why this just now would become a problem because I've had DayZ installed with the provide Redistributable for many months and I haven't gotten a single CTD since the last patch on Stable. Hopefully this works. All we need is a good B.E. update and I'll be back at it again :P

I think the problem is that you're just picking and choosing what to read. Tons of people were reporting crashing in the Experimental thread, people who said that haven't been experiencing crashing up until this point. Have you just absolutely not been paying attention? Posting "it's just ur computer because my friend's dayz crashes and his computer sucks". is not helpful, that's trolling, take it elsewhere. People are complaining about crashing, specifically with this patch - and you're trying to trivialize it with your ignorance. If you aren't going to be helpful, then please get out. Every one here complaining in this thread is obviously posting issues that didn't arise until this specific patch. Nobody is here "just to bitch". Does the game not crash for you? Good for you - nobody cares, this thread is for people experiencing issues with the patch, as unfortunately many posters here aren't sharing your luck. Also, this is a recognized issue and hopefully may be fixed soon, so obviously it's real.

This is probably the most ignorant and dumb post I've read in awhile. I'm not sure if you're trying to troll or if you're just genuinely a dolt. Validating files only fixes files that are corrupt in the DayZ game folder. DayZ isn't magically going corrupt for everyone, that's not how computers work - it's the released Stable game code is broken. Dozens of people were complaining about it in the experimental thread and there are tons of people still posting about it in this thread (go read from page 1). This is completely new problem as of this patch. Just because you have one friend with a shitty computer that tries to play DayZ doesn't mean you know everything about crashes. If you've been paying attention to the process of the last patch, at all, whatsoever, you'd have noticed that tons of people (not just a handful) are experiencing consistent crashes to the desktop, beginning with this patch. Just because you aren't experiencing the problem doesn't mean tons of other people are. Up until .48 or so, I never experienced game-breaking bugs that people talked about, but that doesn't mean I doubted their existence. Ever since then it's been legs constantly breaking on 2nd level floors, character data getting corrupted upon joining servers, hackers - and as of the last patch, crashing to the desktop. I guess my crappy GTX 980, 16gb RAM, i7 930 @ 4.2 Ghz, and 850 SSD Pro isn't enough for this game - though it plays everything else perfectly stable...

I think ArmA 2 is a great FPS foundation for DayZ, and I think idealistically when the game is finished, I believe it will be the best FPS ever made. Why? - Social interaction in a "MMO" setting brings a lot of diversity as well as a dynamic nature to the gameplay - Commitment to realism, leading to a deep yet intuitive experience - Tons of elements of character customization for those who crave it - More items and weapons than most games - Detailed, realistic gunplay (most games lack proper bullet speeds, bullet drop, recoil, etc.) at both short and long ranges There are people who might not find this game appealing, which is fine, but for those who enjoy this type of game, or all games (like myself), this game is a great concept with a long way to go on the execution. But so far, despite all the bugs, it's still pretty damn fun to play. Killing other players in this game is really satisfying. I can't say the same for other games.
