I definitely don't want my character and gear locked to a server. There aren't many usable ANZ servers, and they're full basically 100% of the time. You never know what you'll have to play on next, plus bandwidth is expensive so sometimes they go down. I'm still waiting for ANZ2 to come back because I left a car with all my gear in it, and it's out of bandwidth until the 1st of August. I understand why you want what you want, but the persistence is really a good portion of the point of it.

I'd probably suggest that instead of adding more 'special' zombies like this that we just have a greater number of the existing zombies. The armoured military zombies are pretty bad if you aggro them but it would be neat if there were ones that had greater detection ranges, could move faster, or whatever - i mean, they're supposed to be infected humans so we can't really make them super, but more human might help. As it stands, zombies can ruin your day fairly easily. I don't like how you start bleeding so easily - I lose more blood to not realising I'm bleeding from a small hit than any other thing. But greater zombie numbers very quickly make me start to get scared, so more intelligent swarming of them would be great.

You clearly don't know the meaning of the word 'feminist' so perhaps you should wear pants in your glass house. Let's go through this line by line: Right, but we're clearly not talking about 'average' people. We're talking about obviously skilled, incredibly fit survival/military types. So why is it so important to try to bring physical inferiority into it? Rocket himself talked of no performance gap between men & women in a number of military training environments, so this is bunk. So this is partially ignorance, he doesn't know that recoil compensation is mostly good technique. That's kind of a bold assumption to make either way - women are going to be shitter at guns than men because they're inferior......physically. "Women are weak and need to team up with men or die because men are stronger." "Women should stay in the kitchen, that's where they excel." Literally the only bonus mentioned was being better at cooking. If you can't see why this might upset some people, then perhaps you might need a lesson in Privilege and gender role stereotypes.

I think you know nothing about development or business.

I'm usually the first to call out whiners and people bitching, but he does present a VERY good point - a gun doesn't miraculously switch firing modes because you picked up binoculars or whatever. That's an immersion-breaker, and at the moment we're working around broken behaviour. His complaint may have been framed as a bit of a whine but his point is solid; guns don't do this IRL, they shouldn't in-game.

Would it be possible for players to "turn" when bitten..
chhopsky replied to iexus's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I really like this. Also potentially interesting for killed players to 'come back' as zombies after a while. Potentially with all their old gear on them .. ? Or they could simply walk away from it on the ground. If the zombie kept the loot, that might make it harder for people to retrieve 'their' old gear after they die, when it can just walk off. -
Logging In Noise to cut down on jumping in behind players
chhopsky replied to Chimaera's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, I've been trying to think about a way to do this. I lost a character I'd been playing for months not long ago - we were in a house south of Novy Sobor, we cleared the village and then cleared the house. Once we confirmed it was all clear we shut the door and started going through the loot. I went back into a room I'd already been in and someone had spawned in there. He hit me but I ran and bandaged, he didn't see the others. Running past he was hit with 5 makarov shots, then I put 5 rounds of M4A3 CCO into his chest and he walked away. No idea what happened there but it was a real shame to do everything right and die because someone warped into the house we were in. Not sure if it was a hack and he'd seen us go in and server hopped, but I've been trying to think of an appropriate gameplay element to counter-act warping ever since and not come up with anything. Some kind of noise announcement might do. This would encourage people to not log out in hotspots where they could teleport in for tactical advantage. -
Yeah, I would probably hack in a dirty workaround, by having the generator spawn in a number of white flares which cant' be interacted with, then despawn them when it runs out of fuel.

No, it wouldn't be amusing. It would be a complete waste of time for absolutely no benefit. It's like writing for film - if a line of dialogue doesn't further the plot in any way then it shouldn't be there. So, yes make a serious suggestion that would make for actual benefit to the gameplay and people will debate its relative merits. - What is the gameplay effect for this? - How will it affect players state of mind / emotions? - How will it influence other aspects of the game? These are the questions you should be asking yourself. If you can't use it to track down your old stuff, then A) who will use it, B) to what end, and C) what function of real life is this mirroring? The game doesn't need to be realistic but it should at least have plausible elements. This serves no purpose. Can you not even understand why people think this is silly? People are busy madly coding in equipment behaviour and major gameplay elements and you're suggesting things that serve no purpose. That annoys people. Accept that and let it go.

How to make the game even MORE intense...
chhopsky replied to MRJOEYBON's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
i like the idea that wild animals are wild and you might get attacked by one. -
When a proper radio system is implemented, I think people will stop bothering to use outside voip. That radio system will also involve making them make sound into the radio in order to speak. I really look forward to this because it's basically impossible to co-ordinate with people and in this scenario, people would definitely be after radios.

I've seen a lot of terrible suggestions today but this one is the most irrelevant and definitely the worst. Women may have a technically greater total capacity but up until olympic level, ie pushing the limits of human physiology, those limits don't come into play. We can assume that most women who've survived an apocalypse who are already living in a post-soviet state are pretty tough. I'm all for character development that can benefit or hinder certain play styles but this is offensive, pointless, and serves no gameplay purpose. You need to take a long hard think about what you've actually suggested, and realise that you are being an asshole.
-
I'm having trouble finding a respectful way to tell you how pointless and irrelevant this idea is. What purpose does this serve? What functional reason for it existing that would improve gameplay could make this get development time? Please use the suggestions forum seriously.

It's trivial to get another ArmA2 CD key and export the appropriate registry entries. Then you just execute the .reg files to swap between characters. I do this, works great.

Lighting Buildings/Camps/Players on fire with matches.

i actually dont mind this. -
you know rocket works for BIS right? and is working on DZ paid full time? no u

in the head, sure. either way, we said 'more realistic' not 'totally realistic'.

I agree with this. I grew up in a rural town and due to rednecks have been in a lot of group beatings that I suppose would closely mirror DZ zombie attacks. I was never in any danger of bleeding out from getting punched. I'd prefer to see much more severe damage from individual blows (disorientation, shock, falling over) and less ongoing bleeding. Unless you were bitten. I'd expect more bleeding from gunshots and less from zombies, but more zombie damage. A good punch to the head can really fuck up someone's day, which then allows them more time to get in and do some real biting etc.

i actually don't mind this. totally useless off paved roads, large inventory slot base. slight decrease in jogging speed, unable to run. would be nice for doing supply runs, everyone could shovel everything into the cart.

okay so beer goes bad - spirits, then?

implementing the ACRE mod would be the correct way to do this. alternately, half decent hand held CB radios are rated for 10km (well mine is) but realistically without LOS you're looking at more like 5. i think even a basic radio system with 40 channels would be fine. you would have no way of knowing who was listening... =]

Limit neverending sprint (Indepth stamina)
chhopsky replied to jmido8's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You can't sprint forever can you? Double-tap forward to sprint should see you start to get exhausted after about 10 - 20 seconds and slow down. You can run forever, but it tires you out. There are penalties to accuracy for being tired already. -
The ONLY Realistic Way to Prevent Deathmatching: Make DayZ a Living Hell
chhopsky replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is actually not happening. The player base continues to increase. Where are you getting the idea that it is decreasing dramatically? Rocket's vision for DZ is brutal and unforgiving. Where are you getting your info? -
I actually don't mind this, because the noise and light itself is a huge beacon of HEY PLEASE KILL ME. For the most part people who are not very good would want this so it's giving people another tool with which to give away their locations and trade off safety for visibility. I like it. (i'm not being sarcastic, all decisions are trade-offs in this game)
