  1. So your pre-teen brain can understand, I will put everyone's thoughts in a single post.

    • Do not call people immature when you are.
    • Calling people out on their spelling/grammar? Learn it yourself first, I can find more than 3 mistakes in each of your posts.
    • There's this thing called "Google", which can search the internet for anything! That's right, anything! Try it out.
    • It will eventually be a stand-alone, but not for a few months, as it is only in the alpha stage.

Also, this. Grow the hell up.

Epic face palm, another troll? And this one is probably gay. Okay okay, have you looked at my posts? I'm new, so go fuck yourself elsewhere you gay faggot.

  2. Since a lot of people play ArmA 2: OA mainly for DayZ, I thought it would be nice to create a custom grid view image for Steam.

Take a look at the spoiler below to preview it.

If you want to use it for yourself, save it to your PC from this spoiler:

To change to it, right click ArmA 2: OA in grid view, then click "Set custom image..." And then select this image. Simple! Hope you enjoy, please provide feedback!

  3. I like this idea. Maybe macro it with a direct chat text that says "Hi" or something with the gesture of raising an open hand like waving. For tactical use there are several more that could be handy as well but the biggest hurdle would likely be the extra animations that would be needed.

This would be awesome. Also' date=' a "Surrender!" and "I Surrender" gesture, for muggins or captives.

There is another one! Macro with direct chat text and automatically dropping the weapon in hand.

    All this. Agreed, +1

  4. thats just the worst thing ever' date=' now go be hungry in a desert in Africa with no internet!

stfu noob nobody asked you fucking troll

Damn, stop the download and go back to playing COD then.

  5. But then you would be always safe from zombies' date=' just simply run. That takes the danger aways from zombies again.

I still don't understand what's practical about being unable to gather weapons once at least one zombie detects you. The fun sense of danger is one thing. Guaranteed death is not fun danger.

Zombies will still be the little high school athlete psychic prodigies they already are. They just won't guarantee your imminent death should you find yourself detected without a gun.

Keep in mind, walking down a block won't get a zombie off your tail. A reasonable distance would be best for a successful retreat.

Hmm... I have been thinking about how Rocket wants to introduce "zombie lifecycles", where they eventually rot, so how about after that mechanic is introduced they rot at an increased rate when running, causing them to eventually fall apart while chasing. I think thats reasonable.

  6. No. still no. It doesn't make any sense. Would it make sense? No' date=' it doesn't.

Think about the implications of this. We would have a simulation of a virulent epidemic in game. Uninfected players would avoid or ostracize infected players. Antibiotics would be at a premium. It's just waiting for some sweet emergent gameplay.

Take a look at the most recent interview Rocket did, where he talks about how players fleeing from a dark and rainy server brought the disease to other servers. On a large scale, this could make for some very interesting dynamics.

What would you do about it? Stockpile antibiotics in your camp? Go server to server curing people? Hunt and exterminate infected players?

What if you got infected? Would you team up with another infected survivor to raid a hospital? Would you maliciously try to spread the disease? Would you rage quit and post on the forums about how unfair it is? (lulz)

It would create an interesting faction system as well, as it would split players into four groups:

    -Uninfected Survivors

    -Infected Survivors

    -Uninfected Bandits

    -Infected Bandits

I think the effects of the disease and the availability of antibiotics would have to be tweaked a bit in order for this to work, but I also believe that permanent infection would add another layer to the giant mindfuck that already is DayZ!

    Sounds awesome now...

Coming from experience where we had to kill one of ours because he was infected so we wouldn't get it too

Dude' date=' that's awesome. Those are the kinds of experiences DayZ is about. Choosing to put down your infected buddy? That's emergent gameplay right there.

YES, YES, YES. Put this in the damn game! (After other things are fixed, of course.)

  7. The hunger and thirst mechanic needs to be fixed' date=' the servers are real time and i know for a fact i can go for 2 3 days with out food and a day or 2 with out water. So why do i get thirty and hungry every 1 or 2 hours? i like the idea of making recipes but if single foods will only fill you so much then the rate at wich we get hungry/thirsty need to be made longer. With a fatigue state the longer you wait to eat drink so you wait a day with out drinking or eating you cant run as long and you become tired to the point you get dehidrated and pass out. I dont fully understand the arma 2 engine but i reckon something like this could be done to make it more realistic. this way we could have less food loot making it more intense and more realistic being that in a situation like this i dont think we would find food in everbuilding we enter. Hunting animals would become more of a neccesary thing and going to lakes with water bottles will be mopre a factor aswell.

Most of these problems are due to bugs, and as I said in the post, this cooking system should (if at all) be implemented after other big problems are ironed out.
