It does seem like some servers are stuck at a time just after dusk or before dawn. Seeing at night wasn't a problem for me after I read about maxing the brightness, contrast, and having hdr on. I normally turn it off in games due to it's common implementation as a showy effect and not a subtle one. -

Luv the idea of a dog companion with karma benefits. Although in ever game that has them I've always hated having to shoot a pack of fearless typically non-woundable dogs/wolves zerg rushing me no matter how loud and scary the gun I have.

Ya if you got some friends who already have it sure. But keep in mind its still in alpha development. Also Arma 3 is in alpha development and I don't know if DayZ will be moved to Arma 3 with support dropped on 2.

So that brings up the question of how much of the 100% player base is 100% of players affected by this exploiting. I also thought there were 2 categories for exploiters: chickens and relocate bandits. The former being more of an 'awwww didn't get my kill' versus the latter being 'you bugging sonavucrackwhore'. -
Update Faster, dammit!! I'm going into dayZ withdrawl and even went as far as starting a hardcore mode character in diablo 3.

What's the solution to a server getting ddosed? Can you just call up your isp and tell them to stop all traffic from that source or add a filter to a router or something?

Well if you can run out of it can you get a car and drive to it then kill players as they're spawning? Cuz every other time I connect to a server and spawn it looks like I'm in the debug plains for a second or two. That could get scary.

If they can open doors and climb 30ft+ ladders without falling off, zed should be able to ride bikes while chasing survivors as well.

Of course it would be more fun if there were incentives to forming groups THEN hunting other survivors/groups. And I mean this primarily among random players and not just people you trust from rl or other gaming communities. I don't think that can be done though without it being made the primary focus of the mod. -
I guess the real question is: Is there an existing rule from that server's admins or the DayZ modders not to use such things if you happen to stumble upon them? Oh and by mic spam I mean play loud catchy or obnoxious music such as lady gaga: Pitty if you can't use it. Nothing says 'I don't want to be friends' quite like a tank does.

Actually I'd prefer it just be tracked behavior where in certain events such as disconnect right after being wounded or at the first encounter of other players, penalties be applied on reconnect like a bolt of lightning on reconnect, a healthy bright glow surrounding the skin, or smoke trail with slowed movement etc. And there's other things that could be added to that like having a meter that measures the events and allows some leeway for false positive events, applying increasingly dangerous penalties, while the meter itself only decreases during game time. -

I've never seen this working anywhere but on the edges of the screen during the day. Seems to work on all servers though. I've been using it as a locator for zombies and general awareness. Not good for spotting snipers unless you're within handgun headshot range. -

There are PvE only players? I thought the whole point of the mod was hostile interactions with other players in a survival environment. -

I thought the problem from a modder standpoint was that they couldn't get a player body to exist after connection termination. -
Ya, I've been alive for about 2 weeks straight and I'm afraid of the hackers far more than bandits. But I hear that's a problem with arma 2/battleeye and not dayZ code.
