    Can we please get controller support on the console over to official servers on PC? The controls feel good already on console and it would be nice to use a Steam or Xbox controller right out of the box.

    I was getting really fearful for the development of DayZ earlier this year, so I had decided to just not play the game until its release. I will admit that I even joined in on the DayZ hate bandwagon at times, as people do when they feel their voice is insignificant. I can't apologize for the Xbox Community as a whole, but I can apologize for myself. I'm sorry that as a self proclaimed DayZ fan, I let my impatience get the better of me and discontinued my faith and support of DayZ's development. Even when I kept up with the occasional update, I was trepid of it's proposed release date on Xbox, since we saw what PC got on their release. But I realized that you guys at Bohemia are probably used to such fickle fanbases and I thank you for continuing DayZ development to bring us this release on Xbox. I think its safe to say that even your harshest, most ignorant, hate spewing critics were waiting for this release like all the rest of us; because the promise of your game is just that good. If DayZ can have just an inkling of the performance stability you guys speak of, then it would already be better than 75% of games on the Xbox Market. I have never played a game like DayZ in terms of role-playing survivability, and you'll be surprised how much a diverse game like DayZ is needed on the Xbox Market. But now I'm rambling and getting off topic which is TLDR; Sorry for being a hater Bohemia, and thank you for the release update of DayZ. P.S. I also understand the need to make a game different in terms of controller mechanics, but I mirror other peoples' concerns on the proposed controller scheme. Some of those button mappings still really don't make the best gaming sense, and they feel almost as if they're just forced differences to branch away from games like PubG. Again, I understand that but sometimes the tried and trued methods work best and don't really need to be changed up.. EX. Leaning on sticks instead of bumpers. And Im not sure what "press to use scope" means, but off the top of my head, it doesn't really sound like something that would feel comfortable on the R D-Pad

    You can shoot through fences and wood. At least thats what Ive felt; I think one time I even shot a guy to death through a door.

    I think the only leather gear you can make right now on Xbox at least, is the two stages of the courier bag/ improvised backpack. There are no bows and arrows, traps, fishing, etc.

    TLDR; theres no great place to look, because the game updates are relatively new in "information land," but you can start with Xbox YTs like Soy Legend, Obligated, blah blah in conjunction with PC Yts like Barely Infected, Frankie, blah blah etc. Keep in mind that because of its newness (DayZ), a lot of the info you will have to come up with on your own. Look for the Xbox youtubers like Soy Legend, Obligated, RED Tie, etc in conjunction with people like Barely Infected because our build doesn't have all the content PC does. Also, I haven't found any one source of information from the internet that provides an all inclusive guide because everything is outdated; even sites like gamepedia for DayZ. So with that in mind, those are good places to look, but you might find them lacking in everything you're looking for. I have OCD and like to know every single thing about a game, so I noticed real quick how apparent it was that theres a lack of information for DayZ that's either 1.) all encompassing/ as detailed as I want, 2.) outdated/ incorrect or 3.) specific to Xbox. For example, you can slide down ladders on PC now but still not on Xbox or some of the crafting mechanics are different on Xbox.

    I agree its a weak argument, and that they've made their bread; Im just repeating the words of BI. I'm not a programmer so I can't really tell you why the game is the way it is or even a better/ more feasible solution to that. However, I can tell you by just basic mathematics that server locked characters would take an exponentially larger amount of data because this would apply to everyone who ever logs into that server. Multiply that by any x amount of character locked servers and you could see why that would get out of hand rather quickly, even with a server expansion. Like you, I too think the game doesn't really show where the money went, but what I have done is read their posts faithfully, and right now there are no plans for even private servers on Xbox. Am I happy with that? Nah. Im just saying what BI has been saying for the people in the back who didn't hear lol.

    Its not MY data, its the game's data. I'm too lazy to look for the original post by them, but the reason we don't have an unlimited number of character locked servers is because it literally takes up too much space on their side and its too much for the game to keep track of. No, logging off and logging back in for the first time isn't the same as server hopping so your status would be fine. If they don't make sense, I apologize. What Im saying isn't a new suggestion though, so just look at what other people are saying and assume Im agreeing with them, with the only difference being harder sanctions.

    What...? No, that's not even how it works right now. The timer only activates when joining a new server/server hopping; what Im saying is an increased timer to what we already have. Instead of a 90 second timer we have for joining a new server, make it increase each time someone does it. So if they server hop a second time, the timer goes from 90 secs to 5 minutes and so on. OR when server hopping, it rolls you back 5 minutes as in your location and other status. So this would mean that you wouldn't be able to ghost into someones base or shit like that. Unless you literally waited there for 5 minutes.. Im only talking about a solution to the OP; server hopping. And yes, if you're server hopping, maybe you should lose that AK and mag.. And whats the easy solution to too much data? Not attacking you by the way, just saying if there was such a simple solution, Id think BI would've already put it in.

    TLDR; Most people don't know how to play the game correctly and shouldn't be expected to. Arguing the ethics of ghosting gets nowhere and we shouldn't be attacking each others' real lives over a game. We shouldn't expect people to play fair/ condemn them, or complain about how these people play. What we can do however, is prevent ourselves from being a victim of it, and take advantage of the current situation whether it be killing hoppers or knowing where to loot while avoiding them. My suggestion for the problem, like others, is an increasing timer OR a timed 5-10minute roll back of data when joining a new server. There's a lot of hate in this thread. Please people, try to remember this is Xbox. While I agree that server-hopping is a cheap way to get looted, it is still generally frowned upon in the Xbox community. However, 1.) the vast majority of the Xbox community isn't on the forums or are new players, so they might not even know how the game is "meant" to be played. 2.) Most people aren't concerned with how the game is meant to be played vs how it is already played. 3.) Calling out people for how they want to spend their time playing, ethically or unethically, doesn't really contribute anything. While it's definitely an exploitation, its an exploitation already in the game. While it's ok to pat yourself on the back for your own moral strength, it's immediately canceled out when you force it on someone else. The thread was "forced metas;" we can argue up and down all day without resolution on the "correct" way of playing so why even bother, especially when people start attacking each others' real lives. It's the internet people.. We can't just call out everything we don't agree with as it obviously leads nowhere. 4.) It shouldn't really be up to the players to decide how to play the game and spend everyone's hours. If someone want's to spend hours, because lets be honest, no matter where you are at, it will take at least a couple of hours, then good job. If someone wants to hop, its still going to take them an hour or two as well and that's ok. Because of the game's current issues, I don't really think we should be arguing how we should play, when the game isn't currently what it should be. Or arguing how anyone should or shouldn't spend the time of their own lives. 5.) Even with server hopping being the game breaking meta it is, the current spawning mechanics help alleviate it to some degree and its unlikely that EVERYTHING will be gone. There are plenty of viable looting spots that just requires maybe a little bit of extra thinking. A good way to get to a virgin server is to put your list to descending and just join a reset server. I never really have a problem playing the "right" way or the "wrong" way, you just gotta use a bit of common sense. People have been arguing since the dawn of time methods to alleviate ghosting, but that doesn't change the fact that its here alive and well. Instead of expecting people to do the right thing, because that's not even what happens in real life, players who have a problem should just adapt to it until a fix is implemented, if ever. Everyone knows the problem, so play accordingly. When I run to a military spot that I know is a good spot to server hop, sometimes I just wait and let the loot come to me. Exploit the exploiters, but its not that serious to be arguing who has jobs, kids, wives, etc etc. Its a game at the end of the day folks. MY SUGGESTION; its already been said by BI that the reason we don't have character locked servers is because it simply takes up too much data, at least on Xbox. What we'll probably get, and what I agree with most, is an incrementally increasing timer when joining new servers. Or my second suggestion is a timed roll back of data. For example, instead of server timer, you get logged back 5-10 minutes of what your status was.

    I'm not in any way band-wagoning all the hate on DayZ, but we only have a drop of content compared to the road map that was established 5 years ago. All you have to do is go back to 2013 on the Status updates and after reading maybe just the first page, not even ALL of it, you too will feel underwhelmed with what's out vs with what was planned. I played DayZ on PC too, and the worse thing isn't when you hate something, but when you start becoming indifferent and just plain disappointed, or ever more worse, you expect to get let down. Ambitions and hype for DayZ we're HUGE, the potential for what DayZ could be vs what it is is why most people complain and feel a certain type of way. Many of us have been following for years. The game has come a long way, yes, but has it come 6 years and over 5million worth of sales a long way? That's when things get a little shaky. Solid titles have been made with far less man power and far less revenue. Again, I love DayZ which is why Im here, but when you read status updates about how much money they make on the game, how many people they have working, and then you play it for years... It can get frustrating. I remember a few very early posts where Dean Hall and some of the other starting Devs did videos that constantly show off how much money they made on DayZ. In one post, they joked about their "DayZ Lamborghini fleet" and another post where the guy literally talked about how he went on a $100k mountain climbing trip.... We don't need updates like that when the game is still where its at. Its like a literal slap in the face to read something like that where they toot their own horns about how much work they're doing but then brag about the DayZ money. I think we can all agree that that would take the piss from anyone.

    Can you blame the Console players though? We have limited space and so many problems with server crashes/persistency issues; no one wants to die so unfortunately everyone is untrustworthy and K'sOS. What I can say to this though is be mindful of your surroundings; whenever someone joins the server, the game experiences frame drops. This is on all consoles. The game sometimes lags the closer you get to a large group of people. Keeping these meta-game preventative measures in your head should alleviate some of those problems bro. Im sorry you're having such a hard time buddy, you might want to proceed with a trustworthy group when possible. Also, zombies still dynamically spawn based on the number of survivors around, so that lil tidbit of info should help too.
