If they have their own server, then I'm semi fine with that, but like you said earlier, that will divide the player base further, which only hurts the game. So, all in all, kb&m is a bad idea for console.
-
I hope kb&m support gets scrapped for console, personally. If you want kb&m, play on pc. Kb&m vs a controller will always provide the kb&m user with an advantage in response speed ie "flick shots" with the mouse. My 2 cents.

Has been patched or, more accurately, the way to do it solo has been patched. Is this the end of the world? Or does it make sewing and weapon cleaning kits and sharpening stones relevant again? IMO it's the latter. Before 1.05, I considered duct tape the solution to all my repairing needs; shoes damaged? Duct tape. Gun damaged? Duct tape? Hatchet damaged? Duct tape. Duct tape down to 2%? Restrain and free self glitch and hey presto fresh duct tape. Found a sewing kit? Worthless! Found a gun cleaning kit? Garbage! Found a sharpening stone? Pfft! But now? Everything is useful! Shoes or backpack damaged? Leather sewing kit. Clothes damaged? Sewing kit. Knife or hatchet damaged? Sharpening stone. Sure, you can still repair all of those things with duct tape, but now that duct tape is finite it is more valuable. I have a renewed enthusiasm for this game, not that it was tapering off since 1.04...

What is the point of doing any endgame features like base building if we are just going to get unexpected wipes every 2 months?

LOL OK buddy. -
ROFL! Omg! You're so invested in the conversation. Me: I don't care about your problems You: you're trolling. Go fan boy! And you call me stupid, that's the most ironic part; you're having all the problems, you're crying about how bad the game is and now you're upset that I'm not offering anything constructive. That ship has sailed, boy. Consider yourself ignored, insect.

Dude, this is the xbox section. Things are different to pc. Maybe you can select whatever name you want regardless of your steam acct name, but us console plebs cannot. We just open up the menu, select 'online' and a list of everyone who is on the server appears and we can then add those names to a group chat. Furthermore, those gamer tags will be saved as people we have chatted to, so in days, weeks, or months, we can track these people down again. So because you had a good experience it's a good idea? Oh, of course; perhaps it's because of my decision. I should have known that all bad things that happen to me are of my own making, lol! Again, this is the xbox section. Your experiences on pc with pc players are irrelevant. Console players who come to DayZ to pvp usually do so coz they are tired of sucking at actual dedicated pvp games and so are looking for easy kills. Does this sound like a respectful and mature person to you? Well, I have not been so naive to meet up with any such players, however, I have engaged with them in conversation and I can assure you that they are craving for blood and when you don't seem to be falling for their tricks of meeting up with them to "trade", they resort to name-calling and harassment. Now, I can hear you thinking "but if you answer the chat request, they'll have your I game contact details anyway, so what's the difference?" The difference is that they will have conquered you and have a trophy with your name on it reminding them that they are awesome and that you were their biznitch and to send you a message to get a rise from you is cocaine to the mind of a bully. No matter what you say, if you are foolish enough to do so, they merely comeback with 'I got your tags, pussy.' At the end of the day, if the devs add dog tags, all that means for me is I won't be using them. But heed my words, ye who would take the dog tags and inscribe thine name upon them, heed my words. /rant

I told you already I don't care about your problems anymore; I tried to help you and you threw it back in my face. Like I said, the game runs relatively fine for me; maybe it's my ping, maybe it's my ssd, maybe it's something else, maybe I'm just lucky. I never said it was a "polished game," but I still enjoy it despite the issues and, to me, that's all that matters. Stop crying and either deal with it or uninstall the game. Simple.

I think that's the exact reason why it's a bad idea. It was cool in the battlefield series because, at least in my experience, you had very few salty toxic players that would go out of their way to message you bragging that they killed you and to 'git gud, boi' etc, however, DayZ having the community that it does, this would just further increase the toxicity of the player base. I don't know if this is a regular occurance on all servers, but on my server, which is relatively quiet, I'll have randoms send out chat invites to the server to try and hone in on and pvp with players just going about their business. Imagine if these players, who only view DayZ as another pvp game got a hold of the dogtags of players who didn't want to pvp in the first place and didn't put up much of a fight? IMO, this would send more players away from the game than all the bugs and the hoarding combined. It's a form of bullying and if I'm coming onto DayZ to escape my life (not saying that is the case) and I'm getting harassed by some guy who got my dogtags, that's not going to make the game better for me. Inb4 "just block them", no, if it's not in the game, it isn't an issue to begin with. My 2 cents.

Sure buddy, I bet you're captain awesome base builder 🙄 And do you realize how arrogant and ridiculous you sound making such a statement? You don't know me, you haven't seen my bases and yet you say your "base building skills are probably better than" mine. I'll tell you what, since we're making such grandiose statements I'll tell you this: only one of my bases have ever been breached and that single time was because of the recent character mix up when someone else loaded up my character, which was standing in front of my base and thus, when the character mix up was fixed, that player knew where my base was, returned and breached it. As you said, the best defense is being hidden and if this character mix up hadn't happened, my base never would have been found. Can you top that, Mr imbetterthanyouateverything? LOL, in zombie movies/shows the zombies are the biggest threat. In DayZ, players are the biggest threat. If you are building your base in an appropriate place then why do you have this issue at all? Maybe you shouldn't have posted this thread in the public section if it was only meant to inform ImpulZ. As far as I'm concerned, zombies being able to jump base walls is fine. If you don't agree, that's fine. Just stop trying to convince me that you are right and I am wrong cause that's just pointless. All that being said, I do agree with your facilitation suggestions, though I'm a bit iffy on the barbed wire killing the infected as, realistically, the only way someone could die from barbed wire is if they severed an artery and bled out, whereas do the infected/zombies bleed? However, the fact that players can die from barbed wire in game balances that out for me. Prop stacking is an awesome idea, as is the damage to tools being used to demolish the base fortifications, especially if said fortifications are metal sheets. But, I'm sorry, your OP was about keeping infected out. So your base is in an area that only 'rarely' has infected, eh? That's a bit strange since, in my experience, areas either have infected or they don't; there's no middle ground. My advice is don't build a base too close to/in a town/city if you don't want to deal with infected, it's really as simple as that.
-
I appreciate what is most important which is defending from raiders who will steal your gear as opposed to infected who are merely an annoyance. Maybe you need to work on your base building skills if they're not much of a deterrent against raiders, lol! If you fail to grasp that the infected are entirely capable to enter any fortified location then you have bigger problems, my dogmatic comrade. Also, why in the world are you building a base near infected zones anyway!? Someone needs to go back to strategic positioning of bases school... 😂
-
Why wouldn't they be able to climb base walls? They are not restricted like non-infected; they have superhuman stamina and strength and don't feel pain, so jumping a wall even with barbed wire is totally plausible. They are easy to kill and it's sort of like a booby trap for any invaders, lol! I think it's great! Building a base and protecting it with walls isn't really for keeping zombies out, though, is it? It's for raiders. That's the point and you've missed it.

Fallout 76? Anthem? I agree about why DayZ is losing its players, but that is compounded by the toxicity and entitlement displayed by a lot of the community. No man's sky was backed by Sony, so that would have helped. BI is still relatively independent. I see that you don't care that I was trying to help, so you can just wallow in your frustration for all I care now. Sucks to be you. I'm playing the game and it's running great for me 😘😘

I just read through our previous "conversations" and you said wow and battlefield. Ark was never mentioned. To be fair, I've never played ark, so I'll take your word that it is as complex as dayz. The fact is I am not blind to all the failures of this game; glitchy inventory, the glitchy cars etc etc, but are they game breaking? Not for me. I have logged more than 1000 hours on this glitchy game. I have died from being mobbed by zombies when I was stuck in a doorway, I have died from a flying car, I have died from starvation while eating. I know how bad this game is. The difference is I know that the game and the devs don't owe me anything; I've more than got my money's worth. You and people like you seem to think that this company works for you and that if the game is broken that it is a personal attack on you. Talk about warped thinking. I'll go back to ignoring you now 😊
-
I wholeheartedly encourage you to quit and never play again since you are clearly part of the hoarding problem 😊
-
You'll probably be fresh spawn, like I was. I logged in 3hrs after maintenance finished and my server was full and I was on the coast. I think all the character swapping happened to those who logged in as soon as the servers were back up, unfortunately...
-
I'm not sure if I'm relieved that my tent and stored gear may still be where I left them or panicked that someone else may have spawned in my body and now has all my stuff... I'm in the process of making my way back and maybe, if I'm lucky he'll be hanging around for me to "repossess" my items...

Ohhhhh, OK, so you meant from a purely superficial point of view that it's a "big game", not that it's 'large in scope'. Gotcha. So, you're first mistake is thinking that the map is part of the "live server" element; the map and all the buildings and river beds and the spawn point markers of cars, trees, loot & zombies are actually stored on the hdd of your xbox one x along with the individual skins and rendering data files of guns, food, trees, zombies etc, but the actual in-game elements, such as zombies, cars, other players etc are communicated to your xbox from the live server, that's why if you have a synchronisation problem (referred to as desync) your actions in-game, such as shooting, melee etc will have no effect on the environment or whatever you are shooting or whatever. So, maybe if you educate yourself and realize that it could in fact be that your fancy pants system is struggling with having to simultaneously access data from the on board hdd and write data onto said hdd, where as if you have an external ssd it wouldn't be such a big job for your system. But hey, what do I know? I'm only running the game from an xbox one (not s, not x) using an ssd with maybe 3 crashes since the game came out... Just trying to help, dude. Sheesh.

What is the point of doing any endgame features like base building if we are just going to get unexpected wipes every 2 months?
Thunderpants_AU replied to thepoey's topic in Xbox
It is very frustrating, I agree, however their tweets said that "there should be no affect to characters, bases etc". Obviously, that tweet was incorrect. So there was some kind of mess up. A game dev is stuck between a rock and a hard place; apologise for mistakes that they make and have the community cry and wail regardless, or don't apologise and just keep working on the game and have the community cry and wail regardless. Once you've played the game long enough, you see all the imperfections as well as all the mistakes that the devs make, like little to no communication etc. Is it wrong to want the game to be better? No. Is it your right that they make the game the way you think it should be made? No. So, at the end of the day, we can cry and wail and post all over the forums and twitter about how the devs are ruining the game and how we lost all our stuff etc etc, but what do you really think it will achieve? Even if people on here agree with you and you have a little haters club, will that change anything? You are the only one who can change. Stop playing the game. Uninstall it and go back to whatever you played before. Or do like the rest of us and start your character up again and immerse yourself in Chernarus from scratch like everyone else has to. Does it suck. Yep. Does it matter? No. Act like an adult and deal with it. -
How about you list some, then? It's funny; you see me as a fanboy and I see you as a hater. We both probably have reasons for our viewpoints. The difference is I have articulated mine, but you just type in capitals and post Gollum and Obama images...

Can you name some of the games that are "easily as big as this one"?
-
The way I see it is DayZ is an absolutely huge undertaking of a game; think of all the different moving parts. There is no other game out there (as far as I know) that goes into this much detail on so many different things. I'm not going to defend the bugs because, of course, bugs and exploits ruin the game. But that being said, at least in my experience, what is right with the game far outweighs what is wrong with it. There are so, so many people on here complaining about this, that and the other as though it is a personal attack on them and their rights that the game doesn't play the way they think it should. It sux that the game is crashing for you, @M00nfly and, I'm not going to lie, I would be very frustrated, too. I have my games saved on an external ssd and I have very few crashes. Have you considered that this could be the problem?

Anti server hopping abuse
Thunderpants_AU replied to ReloTuff Playz's topic in New Player Discussion
My feelings are that as long as things like ^that^ and ghosting inside locked bases can't happen anymore, the server hopping mechanic is working perfectly. -
LOL! You talk like you have a huge audience of fans hanging your every word; "funny, look at these console kiddos." "This game is basically pubg..." No, you've got that backwards; pubg is based off of DayZ which is based off of arma. Dude, you make absolutely no sense at all. Why should we go back to cod!? You are the one complaining about DayZ and we are the ones defending it since we think it is fine. I don't care if you've been here for 10 years, if what you say is stupid, which it is, don't expect people not to stand up and say something. Did you know that different shoes have different lifespans? Sneakers last approx 20-30mins, Hiking boots approx 30-45mins, Combat/assault boots 45-60mins of continuous foot travel. You love to complain and cry when we don't agree with you, but you still play the game and probably not even on xbox (the forum section you are in) since you refer to us as "console kiddos". You're a funny breed of human; illogical and self entitled. Makes me laugh to see your small brain struggle with basic logic 😘

Absolutely false. I haven't removed my aviators one time and my nvg's work just fine.
