I'm always the good guy, if I have a blood bag and I see someone bleeding out, I'll probably offer an assist and xfuse. If I see a bandit gun someone down, I'll put a bullet through the bandit's head and try to return some of the victim's gear to him/her.
Rules of engagement: IFF (identify: friend or foe) return fire only if fired upon, help those who can't help themselves.

update... was raiding airfield, went into fire station. walked up 2 flights of stairs and noticed someone on the roof. "friendly?" -- "yes" -- "need any help?" -- "no" -- "k have a good one im getting out of here before shit goes sideways." proceed to exit the back of the fire station and duck into the woods, 30 seconds into my escape *CRACK* *CRACK - CRACK* yeh... he missed with a sniper 3 times. i turned around and fired 20 rounds from my m4 in his direction. half hoping i got the kill, half just wanting to finish off this a-hole, i take out my silenced m4 and move carefully back toward the fire station. 2 feet from the back door 4 ar rounds hit me in the back. well played bandit... well played. -

I'm currently running around with a m4a3 CCO equipped and m4a3 CCO SD in my backpack... the sd has 3 mags, the reg has 6... not struggling for ammo at all... but i really... REALLY want to find one... and when i do... oh boy... its gonna be open season on some zeds... *maniacal laughter* -

first bandit kill was from a deer stand. my friend and i had just come down a hill to clear it out, my friend had a crossbow, i had an akm and ghillie suit. i had gone up the tower, with my friend taking out the zeds silently with his xbow when i hear 4 shots from a silenced weapon on the road behind the stand. my friend drops dead. using 3rd person i could see 2 players, one with an enfield, one with a bizon. i stay prone in the stand and combat roll to get a shot from the ladder opening. after 5 rounds, the guy with the bizon drops dead. +1 bandit kills. the guy with the enfield had turned around at this point, thinking possibly that the gunfire had come from uphill. i put 2 rounds in his back and realized that i was bleeding, so i rolled back and bandaged myself with rounds hitting the wood all around me. looking back out i see now that there is a 3rd guy up the hill a bit with an m4a1 assault rifle. when he stops to reload after wasting all 30 rounds hitting nothing but wood, i roll back out and put a round toward him. he ducks behind a tree. at this point i notice the 2nd player (the one with the enfield) is bandaging himself on the other side of the road. rational thought and aim going out the window, i empty my mag into him, 15 rounds or so. he drops dead (+1 murder) i roll back out and unload my 2nd mag at the 3rd guy who had tried to run toward my position and fire at me from below, he drops halfway across the road. im at 5k blood, with 3 dead hostiles. 1 bandit, 2 survivors. after looting i had a bizon sd, alice pack, 3 blood bags, 2 morphine, a map+compass, and i took the m4 in my backpack for my friend who had been murdered before he even knew there was any danger. that was back in may. when the ghillie reset happened, i lost that skin. but i'm still alive. havn't had to kill anyone since then, and im glad. closest i got was yesterday while looting the nw airfield around dawn, was approaching the back of the fire station with my shiny new m4a3 cco when i look up the tower and see someone moving up the stairs. sighting in i catch a glimpse of his tag with a big fat (BANDIT) before his name, on his way back down he was greeted by 4 rounds through the tower window. he went down the rest of the stairs out of my line of sight and alt+f4'ed. that fiasco aggroed about 15 zeds, bringing my z kill count to about 450. -
idea for a limited edition... comes with a free can of beans xD

agreed... i spawned in a new character today, before i could crouch, prone, or even look around i had 3 zeds sprinting at me out of the town that was probably half a mile down the coast... within 3 minutes of spawn i was bleeding heavily, running away trying to ditch these 3 superzeds and 2 more pull from i dont even know where... so there i was, 5 mins in, finally lost the 5 zeds and bandaged myself with 5k blood remaining... decided to skull drag to the forest so i could get my bearings... halfway up the beach (proned out, moving very carefully since the 5 were still about 100 feet away) i hear a gunshot, stop, and the 5 that were just on me go sprinting towards me since the gunfire came from the other side... im there, in a bush, motionless... and 3 of them go... HEY THAT GUY IS STILL HERE... minute 6: dead. GG

Rocket - Improvised splints for broken legs?

i like this a lot, but possibly take it a step further? if morphine is a temp fix, then a splint should be too. (allowing for better mobility, but still not entirely OK) the combo of morphine and a splint should bring you to full mobility, but what about another item, say a brace or cast material that (like a blood bag) requires a 2nd person to assist you (more team play) once you put a cast on the leg (which should take 30sec to 1min game time) you can crawl, full fast/slow crouch, and slow walk... after 10-30 min of playtime with the cast applied, the leg heals and you can remove the cast whenever you want to get full mobility back! the cast would be a rare spawn item, appearing only in hospitals. Oh and to make sure the cast isnt the only way to get better... with a splint/morphine after 30min-45min playtime you should heal fully (for people without friends) -
another idea for the humanity system, killing players with a lower humanity level than yourself should not affect your humanity. (say im at 10k humanity and i kill someone with 6k cause i just saw him shoot a kid over a can of beans, my humanity shouldn't drop for that) give us good guys an option to fight back without fear of becoming the bad guy ourselves.

sounds like karma... i believe in a flat server drop rate... if i walk up with full humanity i expect to find the same loot that the prick who just shot at me found when he cleared the place... -
i am relatively new to dayz, but i had an idea. now bear with me here and give it some thought. As it is now, if you are skull dragging through a town zombies give zero fucks. why? because you make little to no sound, and little to no visibility... in reality, if you are down on the ground crawling, you make a lot of noise. especially on gravel. if you are in a building proned out cause crouching or walking will alert zombies on the other side of a wall, that doesn't seem realistic to me. now comes the thinking part. go outside and try this. get on the ground and crawl, make a note of the noise. then crouch and run (like fast crouch in the game) you make more noise than prone. but if you take it slow (such as ADS mode) you can be almost silent! now heres the kicker. if you are on concrete, and you stand up, if you just walk (again like ADS mode) you can make next to zero noise. in my opinion, the game shouldn't be "always crouch or prone or zombies are going to get you instantly" if you are indoors, and walking upright while in ads, the only thing that should be there is visibility (which wouldnt make much difference since there are walls all around you!) so heres what im thinking in numbers form (just rough esitmates, dont be too critical) prone: 20% noise meter, 0% visibility crouched: fast: 25% noise, 30% visibility ads: 10% noise, 20% visibility upright: fast: 30% noise, 100% visibility ads: 0% noise, 90% visibility keep in mind that the % is rough, and im going by gunfire is around 100% noise, and standing up running is 100% visability. may not be much different from the way the sound mechanic works already... but it sure seems like if im prone, i can go rough up a zombie's genitals and they have no idea im there... but the moment i crouch to move from 300 yards they are on me instantly from behind a building, over a river, through a forest, and beyond... please add your own ideas on movement like this: is it already balanced? (y/n) do you have an alternative to my noise/visibility values? (y/n and numbers if you can) i welcome criticism, so i wont get butthurt if you think its a dumb idea.
