    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    The real dayz died about 2 years ago right before we entered .62, look at the steam charts we can hardly pull 5 k players concurrently , and most of these people are just loot hungry server hoppers playing by themselves . This is not something we could have imagined when the standalone first started and we were all bright eyed and bushy tailed . These devs need to take control of their game , as of right now the ONLY people appreciating how they are handling this are people like yourself that have absolutely nothing to say about the game unless it’s positive - it’s like you’re in denial to the reality of things and you want to stay in your little fake world Made up entirely by the interns of dayz that are essentially roller coaster riding “their” game to hell . Sure dayz will make it because actual devs worked on it for years before these interns got their hands on it , but we as original backers from December 2013 can’t help but feel disgusted when we think of how much work went into this project only to be rushed out the door in a sloppy state as soon as the finish line was in sight; and all for the community of players that the devs ENSURED US wouldn’t receive special attention : the Xbox / console crowd ... Yes ladies and gentleman it seems the new faux devs were won over by mad money and an early Xbox push as years ago they said they wouldn’t push out the Xbox version with the pc version so they could solely focus on the pc version , and now ? Well now we all know what’s happening, our game is being rushed to meet the craze of Xbox fans wanting to buy into all the juicy dayz games and merch . Ive said it for years and say it again : I love dayz , and want the best for it , what’s happening now is simply not the best for it and now I see my favorite game stripping itself of features to meet an arbitrary deadline that makes NO SENSE to meet in such a short amount of time . Haven’t these devs ever heard the saying “slow and steady wins the race”? Don’t these devs have phones ? ;)

    PC 1.0 Release Date Announcement

    Not at all . This gives everyone another piece of ammunition against dayz as if there weren’t enough already . They need to stop rushing deadlines and take their damn time ... we wouldn’t have cared if it took 6 years to get a full release , just don’t release the game to “1.0” in this state unless you have a MAJOR patch coming that will fix everything , add more content and fix the bugs that brings with it , and know that it all will work 100% smoothly . please don’t follow suit will all the other AAA devs out there (and even some indies) that just rush to finish the product due to demand. There’s still so many features to be added that will need bug fixing , what happens when all the new content is added post 1.0 and it takes the devs a year or more to fix all the bugs that come with it ? People will call them unprofessional causing more stress and demand to finish the bugfixing all in a period that is designed to be a much more relaxed time for the devs - but it will be anything but that for them and us the players due to their desire to push the deadline so early. Might as well have stayed in alpha for another .5-1.5 years at that point as that would have shown a much more polished game . Let’s just hope the patch is QoL additions and bug fix galore , because otherwise we will be drowning in a sea of “post 1.0” bugs .

    From the pulse of the forums , I can tell most of us aren’t ready to properly critique a game that’s this broken , THIS close to “full release” . I fondly remember this happening just recently to another game that everybody hates now .. what was the name... oh yes , fallout 76 . How could I forget : this games beta is exactly like falllut 76s , and best of all they promise to release this buggy mess in a little over a month ! Now onto the serious note : People need to stop defending these devs and their poor decisions , it’s only enabling them to continue down this lazy and poor path . They NEED to push out this big patch like asap so we can critique it and tell them if it’s ready for 1.0 or not . Remember FBs and WKs ; your idolizing of the devs as God’s is only Bringing us further and further away from a proper , non-broken , smooth operating 1.0 . Essentially if you defend any poor decisions this late in the game or use any FB / FORUMS WK-like terms (which includes using the phrase “it’s beta/ it’s early access just be patient”) then you are advocating for a bug ridden , poorly developed game that will never have a proper beta or 1.0 phase because of all the goddamn coddling you people are doing to the devs just because you don’t want to hurt their feelings or some shit . Grow up people - we paid for this product years ago, we still have yet to have that product delivered in full so don’t let these devs pull a fast one and give us a shitty broken 1.0. We honestly deserve more for being so damn loyal and always telling our friends “dayz is just about to get awesome” when really it’s just spinning the same old gears . And you people should expect more than a barely functioning pvp game after 5 years .

    Isn’t it funny how persistence was almost perfect before base building and then they ruined it just in time for “beta” ? Oh but that’s ok cuz beta is for fixing things ... but wait we still have so much more to add ... so basically they are forcing all these fixes , new content and fixes on all the broken new content , in less than two months to appease the ridiculously loud minority of Xbox players. If any of you were here for the entire ride you would realize how ridiculous this is , and how poor of a move it was to rush this beta out . We should still be in alpha for fucks sake (that’s based off of the current state of the game - where it ACTUALLY IS - and not where the out of touch devs think it is, and it’s certainly not at the state in which all these fbs think it’s at). This game is a mess compared to its former builds - sure we have some new content but half of the old content is broken and half of the new content we won’t even get until “post 1.0” . What a terrible way to manage a game , and after 3+ years of managing expectations and development time so well they give us this shit show ? Its just such a kick in the nuts to all of us that were here since day one is all - but of course those obsessed with the game and it’s devs won’t care , and they almost rule these forums cuz no one with a brain cares to chime in - it’s all just the same old bullshit with this community - “ if you don’t like it , Just go ahead and shut the hell up “ - is the dayz dev and fans motto .

    Fluffy bases.

    Devs have said many times during this long ass journey that ghosting into bases will be prevented by using a simple “teleport to nearest area if inside X area with base” feature that they could code in . Dont ask me which status reports it’s in because there’s too much junk on this forums to keep track , but it was said multiple times that this could be an easy solution for that issue .

    Well if any of the submacbine guns were In game I think we would all have a better view of them ... but of course they are more rare (or non existent) than the “top tier” assault rifles FFS .

    Persistence Workaround

    I don’t think that’s the cause every time . I’ve done nothing of the sort like you described and have had multiple base building objects and materials disappear on me . Tents ? Yes . Barrels ? Sure . Vehicles ? After one bump they were gone (haven’t found another in days). Persistence is wacky in the code , and it runs deeper than “spring cleaning” but thanks for the workaround regardless .

    Hotfix Today?

    You do realize “game testing” is ending in less than a month ? You do realize that a broken beta this close to full release is NOT GOOD RIGHT? You do realize that fallout 76s beta was just like this , and if they don’t get their shit straight people will hate dayz even more when they realize it’s every feature that pulls people in is broken ? lets break down just SOME of the broken / missing features : persistence of bases - broken , items disappearing at random and people can use a saw , axe or other tool to take down your base in minutes . vehicles - broken , too rare , and very desync ridden , the vehicles were far better when they were first implemented as they now disappear after the radiator is damaged and it happens a lot considering the headlights ARENT BRIGHT AT ALL and you will find yourself smashing into shit unless you have a flashlight or other light source out (impossible when in car) zombies - don’t jump over fences any more , they don’t react to you unless you are right in their face or have the brightest colors on , they also take too long to kill you (15 slow hits from a zombie = possible death) and they never make you bleed anymore (rags = now useless) server owning = with night time being broken for everyone besides ultimate FBs and forum WKs , many night time servers are left abandoned ; unless said server is operated by a famous streamer of course , then they stay over night to stream snipe . Also there are many persistence and crash errors for server owners. Nighttime - broken as all fuck ? Light sources are rare and when you find them you’re simply a target for someone with a better monitor (read : better monitor = better advantage at night) Guns / items : many are missing . MANY . We are working with such a limited roster of weapons it’s kind of pathetic the devs keep removing perfectly good weapons for no reason . The new engine has been In for months now , they can’t reactivate the weapons with the new animations they have been “working on” ? They’ve been working on new animations for almost a year now... Anyone remember the longhorn , the glock , vss , Svd , fn fal , engraved 1911 , blaze double rifle ? Some of these will be at a crash site you say ? Ok well find me a crash site that isn’t already picked over . Oh you can’t ? Oh what’s that ? It’s because the devs put one per server and it’s never found by anyone besides the no lifers ? Oh... ok . I guess that’s that . Overall there’s so much more I can put down that was fucked up , removed , or taken out of the game altogether , but it would only disappoint me further and put me more towards disliking the devs decisions (how they are now) than I already do . People need to stop defending these devs and their poor decisions , it’s only enabling them to continue down this lazy and poor path .   10. Zombies definitely need a buff . The experience with them is disillusioning at best , it seems like they have gone on a roller coaster ride of good and bad . They are now good because : A) there’s a good bit of them now which is fun B) they are varied and hAve loot C) many different models of zombies D) they spot brighter colors now I think But the bad : A) they only spot bright colors or gun shots from afar B) they take too long to kill you C) you don’t get white screen anymore , making it easier as well .

    Why promises bite you in the ass

    The game is in a very rough state indeed ... it’s taken a few steps forward in one area , but a few steps back in others . Persistence is working but barely , and much worse than it did on the previous engine . Basebuilding looks good , but no wAy to tell as persistence wipes so often or glitches and force disappears / wipes . Vehicles are more rare than they’ve ever been since they were implemented years ago , the driving is still less than realistic but getting there - although I remember a status report last year or the year before that talking about shooting from vehicles when the new engine comes ; I would love to see that ASAP ... Weapon roster is lower than before , and many weapons have been in development hell for years (rpg , cricket launcher , RPK , m249 , bizon 88) that I’ve been dying to see ... One would think the devs would just throw these already modeled and finished guns into this build to make it feel less ..”shallow” for lack of a better term (in terms of guns). Overall we are making progress but I really wish they wouldn’t force the 1.0 by end of December , because at this point we all know it won’t happen with good quality if the devs continue this pace until then . I would say 1.0 by March / April to be safe — but honestly it seems they have all the pieces in place, I’m not a dev but it seems like they should just be able to finish the puzzle and add it all in no time , but I don’t know ....

    Cars

    Car positions are resetting at every server reset now , so when you find one and the server crashes (which is often) you will have to search AGAIN for another car somewhere else. They are worthless unless you have all the parts and can fix a car up before server reset ; but even then there’s a chance it will despawn on you even if you get it away from its original spawn point .... fix this devs .. this glitch plus the fact that all bases can be destroyed with a simple saw in minutes makes basebuilding and vehicles completely pointless unless you have a whole day to continue searching for cars after your first one disappears (or your first base is broken into with ease).

    Night Is Great!

    Light sources and batteries need to be more common loot , the moon needs to light up the night if it’s cloudless , and the devs need to eventually add a dual weilding system in which different items could be held by the hands at one time (E.g. flashlight and a pistol). Also , Whatever happened to the devs idea of your eyes acclimating to the darkness and attaining “‘natural night vision” after staying in the darkness for a while ? Night in dayz sa right now is too grainy , too unrealistic , and gets in the way of actual gameplay especially if you are unlucky enough to have a work schedule that forces you to play on dark servers due to never being able to play in the daytime (irl daytime seems to somehow match with In game day time ?). Fix it in the specific ways I listed in my first paragraph and you will have an amazing night system , all thanks to muah .

    Came back to it after a year or so...

    Ya it’s really sad to see this as a BETA . If any of you played before .63 you would see a LOT of stuff missing . Countless weapons and items , wolves , farming , fishing , remapping keybind (you have to do it every time you enter game it doesn’t fucking save lol) 2 vehicles , placing fireplaces in already made fire spots , diseases aren’t working (although they are listed as working and apparently there’s “4 sicknesses”) . Overall the game feels like it took a few steps forward in its weak areas and about a dozen steps back in all of its strong areas .

    Decrease Item Damage

    Honestly this hasn’t been an issue for me compared to earlier builds . I think it was .61 or .60 when the zombies would literally wreck your clothes and any items on you in one or two hits. I think we have hit a good balance with this patch , I’ve been getting struck by zombies pretty frequently but have only needed to repair my gun twice , and my clothes are now at damaged / badly damaged but these are the first outfit I found after spawning a few days ago - been playing for at least 3-4 hours per day since then Too so IMO there’s plenty of wear and tear here but not too much .

    I only agree this should be worked on past 1.0 , but even past the long awaited features that are supposed to come after 1.0 . So not directly after 1.0 , but maybe 6 months after so they can work on shit that’s a priority . These small things really shouldn’t be focused on right now ... they need to get the core mechanics polished and they need to add everything they took out / have promised for years on end .

    Melee Animation Need Redone

    I don’t believe we should nitpick this just yet . My idea here is that a soft skill will eventually be put in that deals with the efficiency of swinging melee weapons and dealing damage with them . I think someone who masters the “melee soft skill” should be rewarded with more fluid animations and no animation locks - a person with NO melee soft skill however would swing like we do currently and not have much control over the stance lock while attacking. The devs can actually make this wonky animation work if they properly introduce a melee soft skill , making the user much more fluid and efficient at melee attacks when “leveled up” in this particular skill. The zombies going through you while attacking you is bullshit and needs fixing though .

    Ya kind of mind boggling how .63 became much less user intuitive than .62 - and it also became much less realistic with no sticks on forest floor , rocks being super rare (like wtf ? Knives are everywhere but hey let’s make rock knives SUPER FUCKING RARE) and all the real weapon names changed to some silly shit . Get back on track dayz , we get that you needed a break from the real work but now the vacation is over and we need you to get back to work . And please don’t let the interns take this one again .

    Server hopping - base security

    Yes bases disappearing is bullshit - no need for that crap if you just put in a good base raiding model . I would say model the base raiding after Dayz aftermath . Dayz Aftermath was a great dayz mod back in the day that approached base raiding pretty fairly . You would need multiple sledgehammer , toolbox , and I think some other tools to get through a gate or a wall - no explosives were implemented before the shut down of the mod but it made for much better raiding because you couldn’t just blow their walls . You would need legit 5 sledgehammers and other tools depending on the level of the gates / walls , because during the break in the tools would easily snap , sometimes taking up to an hour or more to break through all the walls of the base . This ensured that people weren’t quickly wiping out all the bases on the map with farmed explosives , and also it meant you had to be at the enemies base for longer periods of time . I wish the devs for that mod would resurface , they were some crazy aussies with great ideas but when standalone came out they were intimidated and stopped the project . It’s a Damn Shame too because besides the bugginess of the RV engine , Dayz Aftermath had everything going for it: curable diseases , craftable cures for the zombie plague , new buildings , whole new additions to the map akin to what Chernarus plus looks like now , and a passion for a vanilla experience that really stressed the original dayz experience and just made it better with awesome things like a military base with electric powered gates that was a conquerable base in Balota .

    Blaze 95 - gone Fn fal - gone Steyr aug - gone Red 9 - gone trumpet - gone sporter - gone Longhorn - gone vss vintorez - gone SVD - maybe gone Glock - gone ? derringer - wtf ? Gone ? Pm73 rak - gone ? Ak 101 - gone improvised bow - unable to be crafted If anyone has seen any of these “gone” weapons , let me know , and I’ll take it off this list ... but so far I feel like almost all of these weapons have truly been taken out which is a huge shame cuz there’s like 6 more weapons on top of these weapons taken out that still needs to be implemented . Weapon wise , dayz is a shadow of its former self .
