    Life on the Coast

That's a good question, I too would liketo know how is that handled when you have more ammo types. Does perhaps @ImpulZ know? Nevertheless, that excatly the reason why I specifically wrote "if you JUST want to reload".

    Life on the Coast

No clue, I play on PC 🙂

    Life on the Coast

Just use the reload button. That will load single rounds into a vun, rounds into a magazine, magazine into a gun. Depends on what you're holding. No need to waste quick slots on ammo anymore if you just want to reload.

Insanity or Haunting as a Debuff for wanton murder.

I think the sound design is very deliberate. As soon as you play the game as a survival game, you will be constantly on edge because of this and you know that another players are always lurking nearby. Never presume you're alone or isolated enough that noone will hear your shots. If on the other hand you play for the shootouts and you kill everyone you see, then any game mechanics like the one suggested will just punish those who play a survival game. But even the survivalist will kill others. I quite enjoy hunting the careless loud ones, stalking player bases and so on. Often saves me the trouble of going into hotspots 😉

    Binoculars

Only terrible parts are lag when you want to use them and that they should move with mouse rather than trackir. Otherwise, you would not really move around while looking through binoculars, especially in forest and such terrain. That there cannot really be any larger objects blocking your line of sight is correct.

    Loot spawn system restrictions

In another thread you're complaining that people are finding your stashes, so it can't be both. If there will be no limits hoarders will just hoard more. You have to find their stashes and loot them. Still helicopter loot is not limited as written above, so happy hunting.

How are people finding my stashes?

There is your first mistake, thinking that an area of the map is unvisited 😉

    How longe since the event?

I'm sorry, this is not supposed to be in modding. Lack of coffee in the morning. If admins can move this to general general ... 🙄

    How longe since the event?

So, pardon the noob question, but this is something I did not find a clear answer to over the years. How long is it supposed to be since the event? I think we can safely assume it wasn't a sudden event and it took a while for infected to take over. Most of the world to me suggests that it is not that long since, it's a world that looks lived in and where development stopped. However, there are also quite a few elements which would suggest that the world is abandoned for years if not longer. These would of course naturally occur without the event just as well, people abandon some areas and thing. Or did the event take so much time, that some parts of the world and items were abandoned for longer than others before finally the infected took over? I take it that the infected are not immortal, therefore it should not really be a timespan of decades. Also us, the survivors, are adults so we were either escaping or traveled in from another part of the world? Though being local makes more sense to me due to the lack of items. I always presumed it's people who run away in panic before coming back to their senses. Let me know your thoughts 🙂

    Gardening yeld and actions

Since I've never really done gardening in DayZ I have a few questions. I'm familiar with how to get started, but ... 1. What do the icons with wrenches mean? 2. Once I harvest, will it automatically regrow or do I need to start all over? 3. I still need a shovel or something to plant in greenhouses, right? It's not like indoor stoves that no longer require a crafted fireplace. 4. Do I need to water seeds when it's raining and geneally any effect of rain on crops?

    camel packs/ working soda machines

Depending on the implementation. That's why I wrote similar and not the same. Could be more akin to helicopter spawn, could be triggered by user interaction (smashing the vending machine), where if smashed once it would no longer provide any etc.

    camel packs/ working soda machines

They can simply start spawning sodas, to begin with, similar to fruit from trees.
  13. William Sternritter

    What is with the doors?

Yes that happens on occasion. There are still bugs like this and they are not so rare.

    Two-key controls

Specifically in the case of two controllers you can created a double binding. I know, I have to turn off TrackIR for example when I need to set any key bindings because it always sets the Track IR axis+key. Same works with controller. So, something like ctrl+mouse wheel should be possible. Unless this changed since 1.08, but I highly doubt that 🙂
  15. William Sternritter

TrackIR - Anyone else experience small "stutters"?

All the time, since they re-implemented it 🙄

Food scarcity is good; Caloric value and time to starve is not

I have my doubts about that. Not that long ago you could live entirely off of mushrooms, as they would spawn really fast and kept you both fed and hydrated. Now the fruit and mushroom spawn is completely different and it makes collecting them quite frustrating in fact, since they rot too fast. The game mechanic has not changed, that is true, but all it takes is changing a few variables and the experience is completely different. So I think they are still tweaking it and if anything tweaking the calories and how fast you burn them should be the easiest thing to change. I still think that they are rebalancing it as they add more and more food options. Do we know if the food palette is now complete?

    INTERFACE CHANGES

To move an item back to inventory from your hands, double click the item and it will return to its reserved spot.

    Switching from ps4 to pc

So here are my two cents, because I've recently got a new case and started watching my performance in more detail again, focusing on thermals. For reference, I have 3700x and RTX2070 and here's the deal: - CPU is pretty much chillin, somewhere between 30%-40% of utilization - GPU is nonstop @98% utilization and I'm not kidding on this one, even in the main menu. Obligatory, fix your game Bohemia! FFS, this crossover engine is terribly optimized if at all, there better be some miracles if Arma4 will use the same base. Thus I would say, go for the best GPU for the budget you have. Devs hardly speak to us about performance these day and I would not hold my breath. If you go to larger cities your FPS will drop significantly, for me it's ~100 in the county and ~60 in a big city near large industrial or apartment buildings. Get a good, reliable GPU that can handle constant load for a long time and get some serious cooling on it 😄 This game is practically a GPU stress test.

anyone have an idea for 1.08?

    Ever the optimist ...

    Zombie spawn distance

Yes, this has been brought up many times. Same goes for near distance spawning. It takes them considerable time to pop in and then they "shift" as you move around, so even an area which was clear from close distance will suddenly have zombies there. On populates servers I though that this is a sign that a player was there recently, but the pop in happens just the same on a private server with two players. And lastly, they respawn too quickly. So even if you clear an area you have few minutes until there are zombies again and again they will spawn in close proximity to you. This I would understand if there would be a lot of players in the area but again, it happens regardless.

Too Much Emphasis On Hunger And Thirst?

You get a stomach indicator when you are stuffed. While you don't need to eat in go, you know that you can always eat more until the stomach icon appears. Still it is true that your character can eat a ton and even when stuffed, your hunger and thirst will easily creep back. I will however; take noticeably longer to get back to yellow. Regardless, you can practically eat non stop all that you find as you move around. It's artificially stupid and it's the cheap "hardcore survival" element as you need to constantly observe your hydration and food, yet completely unrealistic. Especially food. I hope this gets tweaked to 0.62 values again, where drinking and eating plenty actually meant something and thus survival was … well survival and not Tamagotchi. Currently also all other elements are also exaggerated, like cold and rain where you get soaked instantly but also dry off in matter of minutes, you're freezing despite wearing heavy warm coat and so on.

Let's talk about car despawn ...

These are experiences from private server which we setup to basically see and do stuff we normally can't. Besides it being a private server, it's as vanilla as they come. What the fuck developers? Case 1, damaged car. Now ok, damaged car despawns, although I'm not sure why. Especially when it still has loot and car parts on it! I don't care that the chassis is red, all the car parts (battery, doors, wheels) plus player loot in the trunk are there yet the car despawns. Really? Just why?! At least put some sensible timer on it, like five days or something. How much imagination does it require to come up with a use case when someone would use the damaged car as a storage or car parts re-supply? That it may take several hours until the player can remove all that can be removed from the damaged car. Case 2, car parked. Undamaged. Oh yes. So we wet out scavenging for resources to the lumbermill near Myshkino, got hit by heavy rain and so I parked the car near containers. You know, the slightly raised platform with a roof over it. Makes quite sense in the rain and generally speaking a it's a good spot to park the car. We looted for a bit and then logged off in a garage. This morning I went to have a quick look and the CAR IS GONE! Just because it was not on flat ground or what the fuck? And again all the loot and car parts, totally undamaged and you fuck us over like this?! I though car were bad because of desync issues but I haven't had enough coffee yet to express what bullshit this is. In contrast, when I killed two pigs an gutted them, their remains were in the game for the next TWO DAYS! Dear DayZ devs, just play the game for a while. You know rent a server and run around like a real player would. No console cheating, no custom spawn. Try to experience the game as a player does. Otherwise you will never fix this in a million years and I can submit all the bug reports I want. Parking a car somewhere is the most common situation car allows. Be proactive for a change, play your game and discover this shit for yourselves.

Let's talk about car despawn ...

Thank you very much for your insight. Ironically, the car was on flat concrete surface, however; it was not "on the ground" so to speak, because this area is kind of a ramp. You can drive onto it from both sides, it's solid concrete, flat surface, but the car despawned regardless. It just occurred to me it might be stuck in the ground, though I would expect at least the roof to show above the surface in that case. What you say about sea chests is very interesting, so they can be put into trunks or tents and so on even when full of loot? Because then this is the only item to my knowledge which can do that. Otherwise clothing or even barrels as soon as they have at least one item in them cannot be placed inside anything. It's especially frustrating with clothing, as I would like to be able to store it even with loot in order to quickly change from one set of clothes to another.
