Isn't that what server restarts fix? I would say we'll have to live with it.
-
Yeah ok, if that would not be forced to be unique then sure. I understand the benefit for server owners. Corpses should still say just survivor, you either knew the person's name from talking to them or not.

How many cut up dead bodies can you fit into a M3S?
William Sternritter replied to tandwan's topic in General Discussion
You know it has 600 slots so just do the math ... -
I think there should be a list of server owner/player changes needed in general. Like when you're connecting to a server with password and not only does your client not remember the password but also you cannot just hit enter to confirm. I'm not even going to call these quality of life improvements because this is frankly embarrassing lack of what are otherwise standards. I choose a name for my survivor every time by the way. The only problem is that what will happen if more people want to be called something common like Joe? This could easily turn into more struggle for the player if a really unique name would be enforced on the server. At least I appreciate that the general moniker is survivor rather than player.

Since we are speculating, I'm going to say that DayZ 2 seems highly unlikely. In the aftermath of moving to a new engine just ~two years ago it sounds like way too much re-work. Because let's face it, the engine update was substantial and the game can now easily run for the next 5-10 years in this state. It's a sandbox game and therefore needs maintenance rather than development, once the intended content is in. I'm not even expecting DayZ to fully switch to the new Arma engine, when it comes to that. DayZ 2 at this state would be quite a dick move. Now a remake or some kind of revisit of Arma/Arma 2, that does sounds plausible since the assets are heavily used in DayZ and are already available in the new engine.

Yep, I wonder about this too and exactly for the same reasons. To me it always made more sense that "the event" happened hours or days ago. It's still ok to have areas and things abandoned for years if not decades. It's just that in some details it is weird.

Not sure how effectively, they can use VPN to circumvent a region lock, but they still should have high ping right?

Hope you're not a doctor IRL.

Does headshots count on animals?
William Sternritter replied to James Adam Rimmer's topic in General Discussion
@Tonyeh I know it's quite easy getting close, but I did have a few encounters where the animals would run away quite realistically. Once we tracked an annoying buck for quite a distance because he was loud AF and running away. We really just wanted to get rid of that sound 😃 -

We're talking game hunting, that's usually not done close range with a handgun. Don't need to use a scope for hunting, but wild game runs away. Also, looking forward to seeing you in my scope 😛 -

Use a buckshot next time or a rifle. One shot and they go down. -
You must live in some funky region.

1st and 3rd person nights
William Sternritter replied to gandhi's flip flop's topic in General Discussion
Realistically, the moon is not strong every single night. -
That sounds terrible, let me get more coffee. Also ... bye.

They are not infinite.

Exactly this.

In that case it is my duty to inform you that I do not care about the mod, I don't want everyone to build ridiculous bases, have tons of guns and armor and fly a helicopter. I want I hardcore survival where you have to rely on combination of crafting and scavenging the world that simulates life as much as possible.

Do people always just shoot?
William Sternritter replied to Ryan McClain's topic in General Discussion
Recent interactions on EXP were surprisingly very friendly 🙂 Seems like less loot made people more open to the idea of not attacking everyone on sight. Especially on the coast this was a huge waste of everyone's time when freshies killed other freshies for … rags I guess? Even had an encounter which could really quickly turn against us, the other guy was well armed and just shot two other people, but it didn't. I guess there was just a shootout but the survivor wasn't a KOS guy or did not perceive us as a threat. Still, dropped two guys without a word, one of them shot my friend and the other one stood in the doors in military building. Military areas are not really the place where you go for a conversation. And definitely found dead people, even chopped to steaks. Yes it's hard and let's see if the positive trend transfers from EXP to stable once 1.10 is out. But this is also a reason for me why DayZ is best played with at least one friend, instead of relying on strangers. It also gives you quite a leverage if there is someone with you, openly or not because you have much more control over the situation that way. Which is another point to keep in mind, approach other players in a way that gives you the advantage. Know your surroundings and have a clear plan in mind what to do where things go wrong. If you're not sure, rather do not approach other players. It is kinda sad, still just like in real life, you can never know other people's intention in a situation where your very survival depends on details. But … communication is key. If you can talk to the other guy, you can probably de-escalate. -
Re-enable ability to wear balaclava's/ski-masks with motorcycle helmets.

Also, fix the clipping please. -
Reload button should work the same, even on PC the controller bindings use just one button. Which is another thing, since OP plays on XB, not sure how quick the quick bar is there, compared to PC.
-
OP should know that the reload button works, it works for more than just loading the gun and if you have one ammo type, you're under pressure and such reload is much quicker than fiddling with hotbar. Ammo assigned to hotbar can simply run out and you need to open the inventory again.

Hit zones and damage ?
William Sternritter replied to gandhi's flip flop's topic in General Discussion
In current EXP environment it seems like that maybe the case. I have definitely experienced lag and also saw others rubberbanding a bit. Did not have any hit registration issues so far. -
Hit zones and damage ?
William Sternritter replied to gandhi's flip flop's topic in General Discussion
It is. Unless there was some other element at play, you missed. -
Then there was something else at play. Player will go down uncon with one shot in my experience. Teste on both myself by getting shot and by shooting other people.
-
Good only against players, players go uncon for long enough to rob them or tie them up. I like them a lot, if you're not in a killing mood but also don't want to have a lenghty conversation 🙂 They also don't seem to damage clothing and items, so in fact if you want to be a cruel bandit, first drop them with rubber, take what you need and then shoot them.
