NO EUROPEAN official SERVERS ??
William Sternritter replied to Amp4hilyon's topic in General Discussion
Well you see, Netherlands (NL) is in Europe. There is the same set of 1PP HC servers as there has been for quite a few patches, reset your filters. -
The "Pew Pew Pew" players have over win.
William Sternritter replied to Riddick_2K's topic in General Discussion
@Riddick_2K you already created one topic where you complain abou the gas, must there be another? -
Yes they die. But they also keep spawning outside the gas cloud and respawn after it is gone.
-
@Private Evans but what lore? 🙂 There is no lore for the outbreak. The game does a really good job at being sandbox and showing you the world. You do not need to read a lore book anywhere, you just walk the world. What you see in the game, is the state of the world. If you came up with some lore for yourself that contradicts what the game is showing you, then your lore is simply wrong.
-
@Riddick_2K yes, the game has some contradicting elements in its presentation, however; it also I think clearly shows that all of this is happening at the outbreak of the infection and not say 10 or more years after. - You wake up on a shore with nothing. That does not make much sense, unless you were just trying to escape but got lost or left behind - Helicopters flying and crasing. Even without the sound effect, you would not find a smoking wreck years after - Fresh makeshift barricades in Livonia - Triage sites with yellow tents, clearly erected just recently - the gas itself, if you want static contaminated areas, that is possible but it would not last years - infected 🙂 they are alive, maybe something tells them that they do not need to eat, but they are humans. Grannies would have died of old age 😉 So it makes sense that there are ongoing strikes against cities full of infected. Those people are trying to contain it by killing the living matter (because infected are alive). And yes again, the game immediately craps on its own concept, because infected will respawn as soon as the cloud dissapears.
-
But I agree with @rackinglad27 that this is a good thing. City looters will have to adjust, maybe more people will be roaming the nature and with the static zones, finally places like Rifi make sense. Without the gas it was quite WTF to have high-end military loot just laying around on the coast. It's not as much about novelty but completing the map in this case.

Not much change for me personally, I rather stick to the nature than towns 🙂

SINGLEPLAYER MODE
William Sternritter replied to KommanderWar-94971bcb672f9055's topic in Suggestions
Again, rent a server with minimum slots and play. You will get everything vanilla, you can have a few people join you and the performance will be good, as long as everyone has decent connection. There will be no wipes, only your mistakes. -
SINGLEPLAYER MODE
William Sternritter replied to KommanderWar-94971bcb672f9055's topic in Suggestions
Rent a server for a month or how long you need and that is your single player mode 🙂 -
If the server allows it, there is a crosshair in DayZ. No need to use addons.

Disney/Marvel define zombies.
William Sternritter replied to Parazight's topic in General Discussion
I'm perfectly fine with multiple possible resons and thus zombie variations coexisting across various fictions. When this stuff happens IRL it won't matter as much who got it right anyway 😉 -
Login error: Player with same UID is already in game
William Sternritter replied to Robzom11's question in Troubleshooting
In my experience this may happen after disconnect but should not be permanent. Are you saying this is a permanent error for you now? -
Heli-Crash on vanilla servers: tips on how to find them?
William Sternritter replied to Riddick_2K's topic in Suggestions
@Riddick_2K I would say you are extremly "unlucky" probably defying all statistical odds, but it also does heavily depend on where you move on the server. Generally speaking my experience is the same, on my own server there is no issue with loot and running into these spawns because I can cover much more distance while driving and so on. On a public server however this is much more rare but also I tend to avoid these open spaces where the heli crashes usually are. Still, I've certainly came accross a few, just by roaming around. As said above, use the map as reference and take the risk if you dare 🙂 -
The Awesome Vehicle Thread
William Sternritter replied to THEGordonFreeman's topic in General Discussion
While it all sounds nice and quite logical that further engine development will stabilize also these elements for DayZ, I'm just not so convinced anymore that DayZ will get the full Enfusion treatment once the engine is ready. They were supposed to re-add all content "quite quckly" but here we are and the engine adjustment will certainly mean some amount of re-work and readjustment of existing stuff. Yet as you point out DayZ is somewhat a thing of the past for BI and they just barely keep it alive with a skeleton crew. Arma will also require a lot of attention once released, so I don't really expect that resources will pour over to DayZ. -
Radio signal from the tower near Zelenograd
William Sternritter replied to maxon-69's topic in General Discussion
I don't necessarily need underground and crazy science experiments on every map, but yes more either environmental clues or outright storytelling elements such as radio transmissions on repeat or a logbook here and there would nicely add flavor. We can see the aftermath, but sometimes you just wonder what was the origin in that province and how it all progressed and maybe some clues as to what next. We can travel between maps with the same character, so why not expand this and make it a bit of a story. -
how does someone find my well hidden tent whithin 24 hours?
William Sternritter replied to Buddagee's topic in General Discussion
You know you can purposefully decrease resolution and details even on a good PC right? 😄 But it's not worth the bother, tents stick out regardless. Perhaps OP could show us on the map what they consider "well hidden". -
Well, if we're going down this general route of, cheating exists and therefore any claim of cheating is valid, I'll just say that in my years of playing Dayz since 0.62 I have never seen anyone cheating ever. Playing on vanilla 1PP official servers only, until a few weeks ago. Proving part for me is actually very simple. Since most of the time I play with a friend and we've been through plenty of encounters, if anyone was cheating we'd both be dead the same way. That never happened. In fact, a lot of the times only one of us died, because the shooter was not aware there are two of us. But we did raid a lot of "well hidden" tents and bases ... I guess we're the cheaters then. Shrug So this "argument" can easily go both ways and now what? You either got proof, or some dedicated admin can help you dig it. Otherwise, in my experience, it's just talk.
-
It is a direct response to your question, how is the community paranoid? By reading through this forum alone, I can see a lot of claims about cheating for perfectly normal situations like, my tent/base was raided or I got shot out in the open field. I have seen videos of people cheating and cheating does exist, but a lot of the claims seem like people just exclaim "cheater!" as soon as something happens that they don't like. Paranoia is perhaps not the correct term but it is good enough to describe the state of the community.
-
Like the number of people who think when their tent is robbed it must have been cheaters? Because their tent was "well hidden".

how does someone find my well hidden tent whithin 24 hours?
William Sternritter replied to Buddagee's topic in General Discussion
Yes they are using exploit called walking around. Tent is never hidden. Buried stash maybe, but a tent is never hidden. Putting camo net on it makes it slightly less obvious but not by much. Just because you place it a bit away from "shortest root to loot" really does not make it well hidden. -
LOL, Arma 3 runs like crap even on modern hardware.

Now this just comes back to the original .63 release, when they said that re-adding existing stuff is going to be fairly easy. One ex-dev said the same to me in a private conversation. However instead of seeing that, the game itself is moving more and more towards shooty arcade. Thus I still think that the current state, despite all technical hurdles, is really a result of decisions, rather than engine overhaul. On a separate note, I played the official 1pp vanilla again yesterday and would like to reiterate that accelerated time is bull. To everyone sayin that they want to experience "full cycle", I can confidently reply that there was no full cycle, but rather an hour of twilight and 10 minutes of relative darkness. IRL I would compare it to summer night in Sweden. While I did enjoy the Swedish nights, here the short cycle adds nothing to the game and it can be outright running daylight 24/7.

@RustyShmakle Shift to first gear when going up a hill slowly. Ada actually has the best performance going up a hill but you need to shift first gear. Keep it in first gear until you climb it. No, that is not how cars work IRL, unless the hill is really steep but this is the problem with vehicles in DayZ at least since 0.62. Even when driving fast like 60 on the asphalt, it is still better to downshift at least one gear to maintain speed up hill.
