Anti server hopping abuse
William Sternritter replied to ReloTuff Playz's topic in New Player Discussion
If your game is to hunt for military locations, this may not be as appealing to you. However; it acts as a literal teleport across the map which can get you out of sticky situations without need to pause playing and more importantly, completely negates the survival while doing so. For the purpose of defeating ghosting into player structures, this puts you so far away you may as well end up near another. And I don't think it should drop you near the coast either, if you're a bambi hunter, you run inland to gear up and then teleport back to the coast with no hassle. Oh and right now, as reported by other players as well, it has the tendency to spawn you around one area. So, even if you're traveling with friends you can all easily regroup. Tried and tested. Generally speaking the idea is so weirdly implemented it makes me thing that no one on the dev team actually tried it on a populated server and generally speaking, why did anyone think that moving you half way across the map is a good idea to begin with is beyond me. Coupled with the odd system of predetermined spawn points, it almost invites abuse. -
That's quite funny then, because lately they get stuck at any obstacle, whether it is a regular fence, low fence, panels on road block etc.. I had an encounter go bad, but resolved it with little issues because multiple infected got stuck on the same place and I killed them one by one.

I would say that nothing prevents them from adding a semi auto variant of AK, if they want to "spice things up" it could be a semi-auto variant of the vz. 58, which would be exclusive to civilian spawn.

How do you handle other survivors?
William Sternritter replied to CottonHill2's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah … to me that means you're dodgy and just waiting for the opportunity to draw your gun. All interactions with characters who constantly run around are like that, not to mention very annoying from my perspective. Never had issues with those who behaved calmly 🙂 I even turned my back on those people and didn't get shot. I would never turn my back on a character that is constantly moving. That being said, currently I'm a stalker, taking my shots from the distance 😛 -
Anti server hopping abuse
William Sternritter replied to ReloTuff Playz's topic in New Player Discussion
@Jonas Levin Well, I think all it needs is a bit of tweaking to make the displacement not so excessive that it can be abused, but also I don't see it as a pressing issue at the moment 🙂 -
Anti server hopping abuse
William Sternritter replied to ReloTuff Playz's topic in New Player Discussion
@Jonas Levin what kind of argument is this supposed to be? The system is badly designed and needs fixing. It goes against the core game mechanics and in some cases in completely fails to prevent the problem it should solve. Moreover, with the state od DayZ servers, you can be "punished" for server hopping that you did not intend. -
This construction site maybe one odity, but they made quite a few wonderful additions and changes to the map lately. It would be great to have all three Chernarus regions. That way perhaps cars and other vehicles would make much more sense.

This seems to be fixed in the latest patch.

Have you also figured out what player behavior activates them? I have roamed more than enough wolf areas but I'm still a bit unsure if it's just presence or some specific behavior(s), is it tied to time of day etc.? I'm sure that being loud does it, however; there were also occasions when I heard them howl but they did not charge after me. Made me think that there are other players in the area, at least I did not see them chase zombies or other animals. Also, when there are more players together, do they follow just one of the them? It seems to me that is the case.

Make Dayz Great Again! PLEASE! (English translated at the end)
William Sternritter replied to ZinMas 101's topic in General Discussion
Yes, I knew how to look for food and there was plenty. Including animals. Nom nom wolf steaks. So … yeah … we're done here. -

I don't know what an apple glitcher is and infected give you barely any food now. Maybe you should stop talking bs about others and play the game some more. -

William Sternritter replied to ZinMas 101's topic in General Discussion
@ZinMas 101 I don't mean to negate everything you just wrote, however; you really should consider different point of view. Before, and by that I mean before 0.63, practically all of what you list as negative was happening just the same. I myself was usually running around fully geared, looking for all the loot, no need to hunt and so on. With the addition of stamina, something very crucial changed and that is player's loadout vs movement. But more importantly, my mindset changed. It wasn't that long before I realized that running light is just as viable as being fully geared. Beauty of this game is that you can play it as you see fit. As I said, currently the focus for me i running light, with only essential gear and surviving off the nature most of the time. Couple of days ago, my friend and I run into another player, who was like you describe geared, carrying several weapons and so on. This however; gave him no advantage whatsoever in the encounter. People who chose to have all their encounters fully geared at the NWA can do so. Same as we can run light with rifles, lurking around and choosing which encounters we get into and which we don't. Hunting, farming and cooking are very viable, no need to collect cans and so on. Even movement during the night is again quite feasible. Melee combat with knife is now the perfect way to dispatch infected quietly and efficiently. So I would definitely argue, that now the game allows so much more and can rally accommodate any playstyle you choose without penalizing you for it. -
There usually is a rifle under the staircase, I like them. Used to have food though.

What do you guys do as solo players?
William Sternritter replied to theBarra's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to turn that question around and ask you, why do you collect the gear? Surely there must be something you intend to do with it once you have it. Don't tell me you get geared and then just stand in one place. -
Ah, I need to download it extra. Ok.
-
I don't even see it in the menu 🙂 at least I understood that this is not available to everyone yet.

Terrible lags and only THREE official HC first person servers, which are now regularly full. For survivor's sake … we need more HC FP servers and 1x time again.

This. I ditched a gun wrap minutes after crafting it because of this.

Store Firewood as a pile with persistency
William Sternritter replied to Tarkules's topic in Suggestions
Agree. Players should also be able to carry say up to three logs in their hands at a time. Could even be the case that a player can pickup and carry one log, once they do that another player can pile additional logs in their hands. Then drop all the logs into a pile as you describe. -
idea to help make the game longevity last
William Sternritter replied to mother1977's topic in Suggestions
When will people understand that a sandbox game has no missions on purpose? Be creative and come up with objectives for yourself on your own. Having a base and pile of ammo is neither the endgame nor the desire of every single survivor. If you want open world games with randomly generated generic side mission like fetch X amount of Y, go play some of Ubisoft productions. There is no need to play DayZ continuously if you're experiencing a snooze fest. Have a break and come back in several weeks or months even. -
New map for DayZ is coming soon
William Sternritter replied to Greensek's topic in News & Announcements
Is this one of the other regions of Chernarus or completely "new" country? -
If Livonia is the big announcement next week...
William Sternritter replied to rekkless's topic in General Discussion
The heck is Livonia? That is not another part of Chernarus is it? -
Anti server hopping abuse
William Sternritter replied to ReloTuff Playz's topic in New Player Discussion
Shake your head all you want, the mechanic is badly implemented and actually exploitable or at least prone to misuse. I did it yesterday on purpose, got much closer to where I needed to be and "traveled" 12Km without any hassle. Saying I got lucky doesn't change the fact. -
Usually when items start acting weird, typically they will not pickup, equip or no action can be performed this persist until leaving the server and logging back in. Unfortunately lost a few items to this already, because it acts similarly to no message received state, where it sends you back a bit.
-
I was just about to ask, why would anyone keep pressing full throttle when the car starts acting weird? That's the time when you break. Even in the old engine I have encountered this issue of a car (V3S back then) unable to climb the smallest bump and it never resulted in a total mess like this. The fact that the car behaves like this is clearly wrong but that doesn't mean I will just bash the keyboard and scream the game is broken. Easily solved with just a bit of common sense.
