Most likely someone finding your base like Dayzfanboy said above. If your base and items have been persistant this whole time it was probably other players. Our group had a base up north and it wasn't long before it all went to shit after the wrong people found it.

Can be frustrating for sure, I just found my first tent yesterday and am now in process of loading it up with loot. I keep telling myself to not get attached to it but tbh if I log on tonight and its gone I'll be a little bummed lol.

Haha yep. Unfortunate thing, but an integral part of what Dayz is, hardcore survival. IMO, once you've played long enough and get good at navigating the map and surviving, loot becomes secondary. Once you learn what loot spawns where, and where to store it and how to acquire it quickly, you will probably find it not so valuable. I haven't found myself that attached to loot and I am able to survive just fine. It's all about your play style and what you like to do, some like to help others, some like to be jerks. A lot of factors to consider as well, if I come apon a base that I wasn't expecting to find and wasn't prepared to loot, I'll probably just grab whatever I need (if anything) and then move on. (Never know when the owner(s) will be returning ;)

They are around, I just found my first one yesterday in a drive shed type garage beside a house. I think they are considered a large item spawn. I have heard people finding them on rooftops of apartment buildings but I've never looked there.

Persistence allows items in game to continue to exist on the server. This allows players to potentially build up a cache of items that they have looted from around the map. Persistence allows items like tents to store scavenged gear, without it de-spawning. This allows players to collect items in game over a large period of time, without having to worry about any of it being deleted or removed from the world. Some servers may suffer from a few persistence related problems currently, so don't get too attached to your stuff!

I for one, love the better AI in the Zambies. They should be that difficult to get around. Definitely makes you think twice about what you do and where you go. It has made me become more of a nomadic woodsman as of late and I am currently loving hunting in the woods for food. Found my first tent yesterday, so I am having a good time setting up a base in the woods. This is what true Dayz is to me, hardcore gaming at it's finest. Stay frosty out there.

I believe they are still broken unfortunately gents..

THANK YOU. I wasn't on for long this morning and he was going off the whole damn time. It's like "Yeah bro, daylight, I get it"

Mods on an originally modded game hehehe gets me everytime. Would love to see mods come to Xbox as well, are private servers confirmed or denied? I haven't invested the time credits into researching this.

Game froze for me while playing last night, my friend standing right next to me when it happened confirmed I was in fact still in game just standing there. My crashes seem to be when I have a lot of loot in my inventory. Try carrying less around with you. I've personally enjoyed taken a minimalist approach as of late, been loving having an almost full stamina bar to run around and makes surviving more interesting.

Inventory management is a nightmare right now.

I've had issues as well. Seems for me, the fuller your inventory is, the more buggy it gets, I've had multiple game crashes/freezes due to inventory issues. Only thing that works for me is to stay light on loot in the pack. -
Yep there's definitely somethin funky in these woods I tell ya.. keep hearing weird noises like a broken cow sound..

Saw my first full ghillie the other day, puckered me up because he looked like a sasquatch from afar!

Good day, my fellow chuckaboos. Stop your lally-gagging and nanty narking for a moment, It’s beer and skittles time. Just enjoying another evening in dandy Chenarus and I required a reprieve from the plothering downpour, as I was coming down with a case of the morbs after what seemed to be a fortnight in the rain and darkness. I had just come apon a lockpick of rarity, so I locked up my new found dwelling apon entry and proceeded to retire upstairs for some much needed respit. Good time for a nightcap I thought, so I proceeded to wet my whistle with some tonic. Apon lighting my glowing luminus device, I hear what sounds like a ruckus happening outside. “Definitely rowdiness” I say to myself. Sounds like ruffians out there attempting to break into my dwelling. I attempt to converse, however these gents had an armoury of delightful words and phrases with which to express themselves, one in particular had quite the Sauce-box. "What the devil?" I say as I grab my powdered milk and Musket and proceed downstairs. I have had enough of their collie-shangles. The ruffians thought they had me in the jammiest bit of jams with their podsnappery. “Absolutely preposterous” I say to myself as I unlock my dwelling to deal with the rumpus. As I unlock my entryway, one chap attempts to advance towards me post haste. He turns out to be a foozler so I blow a golf ball sized hole through him, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because at it turned out he was quite the hornswoggler with the appearance of himself being just a torso. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds the man in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off the ravenous undead. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified meater rapscallion attempting to flee post haste. He Bleeds out waiting on support to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up, Just as the founding fathers intended.

You guys get a new different character at your title screen everytime you load the game? I do. When I return to the title screen, I have my regular muchacho.

You can put your knife (Tactical one at least) in your Assault boot holster, it has the round icon that accepts items similar to the Boonie hat for the Fish hook.
-
Yes, I believe that is correct and it is not fully functional. I read somewhere it is usable to look at visually, but are currently unable to use the other features.

Yes! They have to go through the Microsoft submission red tape too remember!
