How to roll back from 1.7.1.2 to previous version
Rowrin replied to Rowrin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
1.7.1.1 standalone version, but I did have six launcher/updater installed and have tried both ways to get into a game and same message. IMO I think its something to do with the six launcher/updater I figured at the very least I could use six launcher/updater and it would update my files and I could play 1.7.1.2 with the crashing bug as I had earlier. /stumped Hm. . . Are you able to navigate to the @dayz folder? you should be extracting the files into the addons folder inside the @dayz folder. The first time I did it, the program i used to extract the .rar's put them in a folder with the same name as the .rar. Make sure only indiviual files are in the addon folder. have you tried deleting the entire @dayz folder and starting from scratch? Download the version you want, and use the directions from this site for manual installation of non-steam arma 2: http://dayzwiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_install_DayZ -
lol, months from how when this is released as a standalone game in the Arma 3 engine you can go up to ppl and be all like "dude, i remember back in alpha when . . ." xD

Funny story: after leaving the beach, i ventured into the woods. I came accross a barn and was sneaking my way through the brush when I saw another player trying to do the same. Unlike me, this player was armed. In a ditch effort to save whatever was in that barn for myself, I ran full force toward this player, bringing the zombies with me. He shot at me, which pulled aggro from the zombies. While he was hopping a fence, I opened up his pack and took his m1911 from him. Shot him, and killed the zombies :D

would prefer 1.7.1.0 if anyone has it, 1.7.1.1 is also bugged and generic loot items like canned food, bandages, flares, water/drinks dont spawn. I wasn't expecting the previous versions to be removed from the download section so i deleted the files after installation and replaced with updated ones. I assumed i could roll back to a more stable version if a current version ended up being unstable. Dont understand why they removed previous versions... seems like good testing procedure to keep them for situations like this. . .

WARNING: Do not install 1.7.1.2!
Rowrin replied to jonaswashe's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
yeah, dont patch if you haven't already, stay on the 1.7.1.0 servers since the 1.7.1.1 hotfix doesn't spawn essential generic loot (food, water, bandaids, flares etc) and the 1.7.1.2 hotfix hotfix crashes servers. also, you cant roll back anymore. why'd rocket take out the previous versions? kinda lame I cant rollback to a more stable build. for future patching he should pre-release patches, keeping the previous stable version as backup just-in-case the new one falls on its face like this. -
It's Impossible to See at Night! - Other threads will be locked/deleted!

I personally like the real time and realistic night cycle. Once you understand how the game works, it makes the immersion incredible. perhaps for release or a later patch there should be an option for daytime servers, nighttime servers and realistic servers; just like how 3rd person can be enabled and disabled server wide, you could disable realtime and lock the server during mid-day or mid-night. -
As a old player, this mod is now too easy it un-playable
Rowrin replied to Cappy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
zombies need to be harder again, and players need just enough starting equipment (ex. 1 mag in the handgun) to deal with them until they find more/better equipment. 8 rounds in the mak: -you might be able to kill a player if you dont miss. -if early on while looking for gear you get cornered by zeds in a building, you might escape if you aim for the head/shoot strategically. -
1.7.1.2 is...LESS GOOD THAN BEFORE !
Rowrin replied to kumiiyo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I love all the people crying "alpha is alpha! stop playing! dont complain!" derpy derpity derp derp No derp it is alpha. If the point is for ppl to voice their oppinions and find bugs. The devs can determine what to listen to. People complaining about the patches are giving feedback, how else do you suppose the devs are going to figure out what is good and bad about their game? -

Really now? It went from pitch black to this. with default settings: gammawarrior settings: Too dark you say? I say it's free nvgs for everyone. i'm pretty sure that is just more justification as to why this patch is bad lol -

also, did anyone notice that zombies cant run down hills anymore? I've gotten several packs of zombies to chase me down a hill, and watched as they all tripped or something and died. -

1.7.1.1/1.7.1.2 are both pretty bad imo The hotfix (1.7.1.2) has made as many, if not more bugs than fixes. We need a hotfix to the hotfix, most of the 1.2 servers that haven't rolled back already are in a state of perpetual crashing. Also, 1.1 made the game harder in all the wrong areas, and easier in all the wrong areas. -Should have limited starting equipment, not removed it imo. makes the game too hard to retain new players. -Line of sight is pretty broken as well, making it ridiculously easy to get away from zombies. It seems that the rectangle surrounding a structure is what is being used to detect LOS and not the walls/windows. I can literally aggro all the zed's in a city, walk into a doorway and they just freak out. I can just sit there shooting them all day as they just stand in the doorway.
