    Food and survival rate

    What's up survivors? Recently I came back to DayZ with a few friends after some time off playing some other games. As expected DayZ is still as fun and even more fun due to some changes that I was not aware of. However, my friends and I are becoming frustrating with the survival rate of your character and the severe lack of food sources. When I last played (months ago) I could collect cans of food, fruit and mushrooms, so a long walk through the woods was survivable. However, now just basic walking will cause two arrows below your food icon and I seem to be quickly going into yellow and red food status in what seems to be an excessively fast time frame. In the past if you decided to walk through the woods you could easily find at least 6 mushrooms and now I am lucky if I find one. I have died a few time already very soon after re-spawning because I could not find any food (or very minimal) and quickly starved to death, so how as a new spawn are you expected to survive? Even in real life death from starvation can take 30-40 days, so how the hell are characters in the yellow in the matter of minutes and then down to red and then dead so fast? I get it that fruit and small cans of food can only sustain for so long, but the current state seems way aggressive.. If you are taking your time walking and slowly looking around your food should last much longer and the rate at which you go down should be much slower if food is going to be hard to find. With that said if I happen to find three apples and eat them I should be sustained for longer than 10 minutes. The entire food / starvation rate seems to be very off and honestly now I started to step back away from DayZ. Is this a know issue and are Devs looking into fixing this? I hope so, because I died twice last night from starvation last night shortly after spawn because I was in the middle nowhere and food zero food except the plum you spawn with. If I cant find any food and the rate drops so fast that is just not fun.

    Yup same here!!! Glad that I am not the only one! Was so excited to play, but had to turn off after 5 minutes because lag and stuttering was so bad.

    Idea for near gear

    Add tactical and hunting belts with an option to add a holster, flashlight holder, magazine pouches / ammo pouches, knife sheath and extra pouches to store things that adds extra inventory space. Basically we find a belt that we can equip combat or hunting knives onto (like boots) and other items to keep them out of inventory. All of the pouches and holders could be something that we need find to add to the belt. I think that this would be a great addition to the game!

    Maybe I missed it, but I did not see anything regarding fixes or tweaks for the bleed through issues with headgear and face masks? The last time that I played anytime you would equip a face mask parts of my characters face would bleed through the mask and hair was bleeding though hats. If you tried to equip a hat and a face mask it was horrible looking. I really hope this was fixed for a full launch.

    Exactly! I think the addition of tactical belts with different pouches and the ability to carry knives and canteens would be great!

    Under known issues I do not see anything listed for the bug with face masks, glasses and certain hats bleeding into one another and or characters hair and face bleeding through. There also is a problem with backpacks straps and vests bleeding together and into certain clothing. I understand that there are more pressing issues, but this is really annoying considering it makes your character look silly. Would like to know that its being worked on.

    Most of my suggestions have been mentioned, but I will list them again, so BI sees multiple responses for the same issues. -Fix bug with hats, face masks, helmets, glasses all bleeding through into your face or face and hair bleeding out of them. Also, certain hats and helmets bleed into whatever face mask you are wearing. Basically entire system needs to be looked at and fixed. -Fix bug that causes vests and backpack straps to bleed into each other and into certain clothing. When you wear gear it should look correct and not bleed into each other. Same with guns just bleeding into backpacks with only a small portion of barrel and stock sticking out. I think something needs to be done with the character model to make them except clothing and gear better, so it all looks good when wearing. -Inventory works decent, but would like to see it streamlined somehow to make it easier to move things around and organize everything. -Instead of weapons eating up so much inventory space I think that you should be able to equip a primary weapon in the top inventory space that shows all of your clothing and lock that weapon to that space, so any additional weapons you pick up then need to be stored in backpack. If you are carrying a weapon in your hand all the time it really doesn't eat up space. The system may work that way already, but I will need to confirm. -Add tactical and hunting belts with a holster, flashlight holder, magazine pouches / ammo pouches, knife sheath and extra pouches to store things that adds extra inventory space.     Server population number vs word

    I am sure people will give me hell for this, but I liked it better when servers showed how many players instead of Low, Med, High. As a fresh spawn I would look for very low population servers to walk around and loot until kitted out and then play higher population servers, but now you go into a low server and there is 20 people on the server. Liked it better when I could find a server with 0-5 people and get lost exploring.

    Is it me or are the footstep super loud now for your character? Think they need to be dialed back a bit.

    I agree. Not a big fan of this mechanic or at least tweak it a bit. I died today accuse I was getting chased by some zombies, so I ran into a building up to the 2nd floor and closed the door, but there was another side door to the room I was in and zombies started to run in, so I started running by them and just as I made it through the screen went black and I could not see to get out and died. It didn't seem like I took that much damage to go black screen and die, but I would have got away if the screen did not go black.

    What if when you looked at a new item on the ground it auto compared to your equipped similar item and a green or red + and - symbol showed if the new item decreases or adds to your available inventory spaces compared to your equipped item. So for example: You have a backpack equipped that has a capacity of 50 you see a new backpack on the ground that is + or - 20, so when you inspect the item in the title bar of the new item the capacity looks like this: +20 or -20 This way you know that it adds or decreases compared to your current gear on the fly and it can be used for all clothing and gear that has inventory capacity. *Edit: OK so I do see that items you inspect have the capacity listed in white, but I still think that this would be a nice quick reference and it really wouldn't add any information except a small + and - symbol with the capacity color red or green. I agree its not needed and there are tons of other more pressing issues, but I just think it would be a cool little addition.

    When you look at a backpack on the ground no description is popping up and I do not see a capacity. I thought that it did before.

    Found a few: -Character face bleeds through ski mask. Ski mask does not seem to fit head or face properly and collar of certain coats bleed through mask. Also bleed and fit issues when wearing hats with a face mask, so they need to sort that out also. -Tactical helmet chin strap bleeds into ski mask or face mask. Needs to sit on top of mask -Teleporting Zombies. Came up close to zombie during rain, ran from him was stopped a good distance away looking for him and he just appeared next to me. -Picked up an axe and it became stuck in my hands. Could not drop it or add anything else to my hands to switch it. Had to log off and back in to fix it. -When you drop items they now see to go to inventory instead of the ground. I was dropping items and then noticed they were still in my inventory. -When you hover over an item on ground (in vicinity) it no longer gives you a description of the item like it did before update. You need to add to hands to see the description pop up.

    Character wipe after last update?

    Anyone else have a character wipe after yesterdays update? Mine is gone, fresh coast spawn. ** Never mind, just read the patch notes and see they listed a character wipe** Time to start looting!

    Thank you for the update. Keep up the good work! To the whiny bitching community who are ripping the devs apart, why don't you back off and give them a break! At least they are trying to put out a good stable patch instead of one that is broken and unplayable. They take the time to actually respond and keep us posted when most AAA titles nowadays take your money and never even respond to their community and only worry about their pockets. Give them a break!!

    Random issue with sprinting

    Has anyone noticed a random issue where you cant sprint or jump after moving things around in inventory or picking up random food? Since the update its happened to me a few times and I notice that it seems to start after moving things around in my inventory or picking up some apples. I don't travel with to much stuff and today I picked up a few apples and a magazine before going on a walk to another area and I noticed that all of a sudden i could not sprint or jump, but yet the bar at the bottom right was only 1/4 full and I was fine earlier. Just happened again tonight. it was fine and I picked up a can of peaches and some ammo, moved some things around in inventory and again all of a sudden I could not sprint or jump. I even dropped some things from inventory to see what would happen and still cant jump or sprint, so I think it may be some type of inventory bug. Here is my current inventory amounts: Backpack 56 of 80 slots Vest 14 of 35 slots Pants 5/20 slots Jacket 14/18 slots And as I said I was fine and I really have not picked up much except some food here and there. I don't understand whats going on? I also notice if I keep hitting jump my character starts to sway back and fourth and breathing heavy like he is jumping, but no jumping animation and toady i was getting him to half jump, so I think its some kind of bug, but not sure what it could be. Update: I dropped some stiff and picked it back up again while organizing it and issue fixed, so it seems that sometimes my inventory is getting glitched.
