Well I can't exactly say he's wrong
Zeromentor replied to zython (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is an alpha... You bought Arma2, not DayZ. Now fuck off and die. I think I covered it all. Some people need to get thicker skin. I hear they got a cream for that. -
If you guys don't have an M1014 in your camp, i'm not sure how i feel about you.
Zeromentor replied to shreddedrocks's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Pff, I'm in southern US, where we shoot people just for not wearing orange jackets. Bah, Stabbed. I wish my wounds were only a few inches deep. -
Hacker- Has every ability ingame, can change the laws of physics and even distort and bend reality to cause things to appear before him. Can never get laid.

I'll agree when zombies hit for 37k blood, and can kill you from 800 meters by flailing their arms. Until then, PvP is a major part of the game psychologically. Taking it out is like removing aliens from Halo.

Dogs as Detectors of Humanity
Zeromentor replied to SalamanderAnder (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Actually makes sense, and comes with a Risk-VS-Reward system. The dog can protect the owner, and fight alongside them. But that is a good thing. Dog senses nearby Bandit with low humanity, the growling or barking will alert the survivor to a nearby threat AND alert the Bandit that a dog is nearby (and possible a survivor, if the dog is not feral). This means that both they and YOU would have an early warning system. That means both of you will be ready for a fight. Campers and bandit snipers have less of a chance to ambush you correctly, and you have less of a chance to sneak up on them. You lose stealth, but so do they. Works well. No dog and you lose out on potential help, as well as an early warning system, but also have the disadvantage of walking in on a trap. -
Remove the murders/bandits killed -counters?
Zeromentor replied to kalev (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There will probably be a leaderboard or scoreboard somewhere. There is a minor one on most servers, showing who has the most zombie kills, and there is a (though fairly broken) leaderboard on the main site. But I haven't checked to see if that particular board was working recently, I'd assume it is not. But that shows that it is PLANNED, so we will probably have it later. And many games have debug moniters of some kind (some are not complex, some are so complex they literally cover the entire screen) until the end of their alpha, which is usually not open. Sometimes Betas have them, but they are taken out at Open Betas as the devs want the game to look nice, not covered in charts, lines and FPS/Ping. Once a game is complete, there is usually no debug moniter, outside of specific games where you can turn it on (or activate small parts). From the design of the debug moniter, I don't expect it to be here after DayZ's beta (we are in alpha). EDIT: To access the Zombie Kill scoreboard ingame, try holding the "i" key. -
I believe what Haplo meant to say was, "USE THE DAMN SEARCH FUNCTION" There is a pinned thread that tells you, OP, to do this before you post up a thread. This has been discussed many times, and in many parts of the forum. if you want to get your voice out there, next time start by bumping threads you agree to, or giving your beans (+1, like, whatever you see it as) to the person you agree with. And on topic, THESE ISSUES WILL BE FIXED. It is going to happen. And combat logging, or ghosting (disconnecting to avoid death, or disconnecting and reconnecting to get an advantage) are EXPLOITS, and can get you banned. Not just from the server, but the HIVE, which means no more DayZ for you.

Remove the murders/bandits killed -counters?
Zeromentor replied to kalev (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Can't remove the debug moniter, as the devs need it for when we are playing the game. Guess what, we are TESTERS, whether you believe it or not. Sure, I hate the kill counter as well, I think it causes many people to just shot for the highest number, which means they camp in Electro with a high powered rifle on a hill and peck off fresh spawns. But we need that debug moniter incase something gets messed up. Humanity is still ingame, even if you can't see it. But imagine what would happen if they added something to use it (more than the heartbeat thingy, which I've never had work), and then you killed a player. Well, he was a bandit, you know this, he knows this, but the game now has you as killing 10 MILLION innocent players. Massive decrease in humanity, and you can't figure out why. Well, if the kill counter stayed on the debug moniter, you'd see that the kill count has messed up, and then you can report it. But without it? You'll be on the forums whining about how killing a bandit made you lose humanity... It sucks, but it is needed. You have to remember, we are testers for the alpha, and that debug moniter is a part of why we are here. I'm 100% sure that it will be taken out later (as it is nothing but a debug moniter, and I rarely see those past Beta) -
If you get stuck and can move, move. You'll die from starvation or dehydration much quicker (2 hours maybe). If you get stuck and can't move, just leave your game running while you watch TV, a few movies, or whatever. What's the worst that could happen? A hacker teleport you OUT of the area you are stuck? Also, if you randomly pop up in the debug field with nothing, log off, go to another server (or stay on the one you are on, but that could be the problem IE: Server broken) and log back in. Your location probably corrupted, and you'll find yourself at the coast with your stuff... Or you died as you logged off last time. Don't combat log (didn't say you did, but it happens).

Restructured Loot Tables (Pretty long post)
Zeromentor replied to KnT47r's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This is actually well thought out. I just think that ammunition should be a little more rare, and magazines should be a little more common. During a zombie outbreak, it would make sense to find empty magazines (people leaving them when they run out of that kind of ammo, or dropping them in the middle of a firefight, or zombie attack). Ammunition would be more rare. Also, it seems that the military (which ever one it was) came to the area to deal with the zombie invasion. That means you would find discarded military weapons all over the place, usually near dead soldiers' bodies. In reality, if a military left quickly, they'd leave behind piles of firearms. Now at the same time, they might not leave a lot of ammunition boxes, or filled logistics trucks or even working vehicles. What I'm trying to say is, more weapons, more magazines, less ammo. People left behind would be running through easy-to-find ammo (like civilian grade) quickly, and they might not stop to check the dead. So, you'd easily find guns, but military grade ammo would be rare. EDIT: Also next time, don't wait so long to bump your old suggestions. -
Maybe in the standalone they'll have sewer systems and underground bases. Crowbars could be used to pry up the sewer lids, and pop open locked doors. But we'll need to wait for awhile before we can see if that will work (Engine as it is now sucks).

You forgot to point out that the M136 is a superweapon. You miss, they die. You hit, they die. They hide in a building? They die. They try run away in a truck? They die. Superweapon.

I'd like to see players having to make their own ghillie camo (to a limited extent, manually building the ENTIRE suit would make me go crazy). I'd also like to see the ability to paint your gun (or just pick a camo), as well as the ability to paint vehicles (or pick camo). But, due to the engine this mod runs on, I don't expect to see any of that until ArmA3 or the standalone game.

New map to have border between two countries?
Zeromentor replied to Stefanohbody's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'd love to see another map. Personally, I hope the standalone map(s) are either better designed, or based off a place far away from eastern europe. I mean, I like the map, but after 2 months of playing on the same map, even if it is 225 square kilometers, gets a little old. -
Thank you, I was so tired I might have well have said, "I like Trains" because I was wrong in many spots of my postings. But hey, we've all been there before. Beans to you for catching my mistakes, as well as others.

Losing items due to logging out too soon after acquiring them
Zeromentor replied to Klimhazzard's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Been told 1 minute, tested for 5 and it still happened. I'd recommend killing something, like a zombie, or just waiting awhile before you log off. Also, relog back on to the same server. If you don't, you have a chance to lose information. If a server restarts, DO NOT LOG ONTO A DIFFERENT ONE, you risk losing HOURS not just mere minutes. -
gun automatic fire after come back from looking the map online
Zeromentor replied to dogtree's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yep, hit ESC before you tab out otherwise you risk the chance of ALT locking the next button you hit (in the menu, you'll sometimes see ALT lock TAB and you'll be quick scrolling through the menu). Also, make sure you tab out with your weapon on semi-auto. -
Scripters/hackers becoming more common?
Zeromentor replied to Biito's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Similar thing happened to me, found my friend in the woods unarmed and trying to find his corpse. We didn't find it, but as we turned around to leave the tree line, I seen someone behind a tree. He popped out, I pumped five rounds from my M14 into him. He ran THROUGH the tree (crouched) and then ran back around it to hide, as I pumped a few more rounds into him (this was from less than 50 meters). I never seen a round hit the ground. Then he ran past me (I missed 2 rounds, the only two I even see hit the ground) with my buddy following him (note, he is unarmed). Guy stopped behind a tree he ran through (didn't slow, just ran through the tree) and turned around to shoot me. My buddy watched as I fired my last 5 rounds at him and yelled that he was hacking when 1 went through his head (he seen the blood) and another through his shoulder. I took a hit, dropped behind a tree to bandage, and then my buddy watched as seven (7!!) zombies ran over from the nearby helio crash and beat on him. He reloaded, killed them all and then ran away. We didn't find him. 10 minutes later, we were teleported to a dam, where we logged off as 3 people ripped into the crowd with silenced and fully automatic weapons. The three people didn't die (cHuCk, Highwayman, hyukki) as I watched from the lobby. Others joined the server, spawned in, died and then quit. I don't recall the server, but c'mon... Three hackers on one server? -
FN Fal G17 Reasons are simple: Fal hits hard and is semi-auto with possible burst fire, and the ammo isn't hard to find when you get like 3+ per crash helio (and you shouldn't be going through magazines quickly, conserve conserve conserve). G17 for the 17 rounds per mag, which means I have 3 extra after I kill a player (takes 14). It used to be Lee Enfield with M1911, but the nerfs took those completely off my favorites. Now I'd rather have an AKM. Poor Enfield.
-
Last Beta Patch made it go down to 1389 damage. 3-4 hits per zombie, and makes it nearly useless against players (takes more ammo than you have in a magazine). Unless you mean headshots, but they'd need to be unaggro'd or walking inside, and not EVERY encounter is in a building.

Scripters/hackers becoming more common?
Zeromentor replied to Biito's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yep, around 2 months of play, 3 hackers. This past week, 8 deaths from hackers, many more successful escape attempts made by me. Others weren't so lucky. Getting crazy, it's like there is a hacker on nearly every server, when it used to only be servers that were nearly full. -
NVGs on Rex in the first minute.

Ban/cheat/server reporting admins PLEASE.
Zeromentor replied to Wirblewind's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Ouch, server logs aren't really going to help you here. The best you can do is get them to unban you for not being a hacker. Anything else is legit, as anyone at any time can scam, lie or steal, and killing you and taking all your stuff is fine. Sadly, the only thing they did that broke the rules was ban you without proof that you hacked. A server can't really be blacklisted for that alone, as the admin can just unban you. Like you'd ever want to play on that server again. But if they do unban you, and you hold grudges, get to hunting. Blow up tents, vehicles and ruin their day. -
Ban/cheat/server reporting admins PLEASE.
Zeromentor replied to Wirblewind's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Did they ban you from the server? And if so, was it for hacking? That's like the only reason they can ban people. Demand the logs until either they hand them over to prove your guilt or innocence, or annoy them until they do. Servers log what you do ingame, to a certain extent, and those can prove if you did something wrong, or if the admin banned you for no reason. Just remember to look over what admins can and can't do in the Server Reporting forum. If they did something they shouldn't have, report them if you have proof. If the only proof is in the logs, pester them until you get said logs. I can't really say it any other way. -
Ban/cheat/server reporting admins PLEASE.
Zeromentor replied to Wirblewind's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Try to force the hand of the admin in question and force them to sit down and talk to you. RECORD IT, incase things go wrong (they start insulting you) or if they admit to foul play (need I say, don't tell them you are recording). Once you have their attention, and possibly their vent/TS3/Mumble/Skype and can sit down and talk with them, try to find out why they did what they did. Sometimes, what you think happened is completely different from what they actually meant to do (Restarting the server to ban a hacker, for example. I recently found out you can't permaban GUIDs until the server is restarted). If they admit to wrongdoing, or harass you, use that as evidence. If they continue to refuse to talk to you, ramp up the pressure. STAY WITHIN LEGAL GUIDELINES, don't do anything that would result in jailtime.
