Female zombies, the kind that never stop chasing you, but only run as fast as the player... Means that miles later, when you are trying to snipe an unknowing player a kilometer away, one female zombie could ruin your day...

Road flares don't last as long in reality. Scrap metal isn't a car's bandaid in reality. Not all flashlights are handheld floodlights in reality. Not every person likes to wear hats in reality. What I'm saying is that this is a game, and a lot of what is in it isn't reality. Sure, this game is pretty realistic, but not to the point that we have to stop every few hours so our character can stop at a nearby bush with some leaves and wipe his butt. Skipping that immature rant, NVGs only give a person an advantage at night, on night servers, which are few, and only against people that willingly play on them (which seems to be 10 players per night server). What many people don't know is that NVG's don't instantly point out players, and don't guide their users across the map to find targets. You can hide just as easily at night as you can in the daylight, provided you use similar tactics. Also, I heard roadflares do wonders for blinding NVG users, not to mention those users either stick around the main coastal cities, or the airfields. And no, an NVG is nothing like a Nuke. One could argue that all scoped rifles in the game are broken as they allow someone to accuractely fire at ranges that iron sights have major issues with. Or that trucks are unfair as they allow one person to carry far more than another and travel faster with increased defences, seeing as trucks are a limited commodity, much like NVGs (expect the latter respawn in the loot tables). Sucks to fight someone at night when the have NVGs, much like how it sucks to fight a guy using a sniper rifle when you just spawned or only have a melee weapon.

Make Zeds investigate when audio-detected
Zeromentor replied to KrebsCast's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
+1 But I do believe that Rocket is already trying this. I do like how the zombie's heads seem to follow me if I make too much noise, even walk towards me more. Thankfully, they don't always zip to me if I crawl too much. (Personally, I think crouch walking should make less noise than crawling, but be easier to see.) -
Not to mention the rifles ingame that add more nighttime engagement options. Should we nerf and/or remove them as well?
-
Actually, it wouldn't help add tension either way. If you hear gunfire near a city and see people dying you ask, "Is someone killing them? Are zombies slaughtering a group?" If the kill-feed is removed, you ask the same questions, but don't know if people are even dying. But without those gunshots, you don't know anyone is dying. Infact, without global or side-chat, you can't be sure that anyone else is even playing. Sure you can join a server that is 48/50, but who's to say that 30 of them don't suddenly drop when you joined. And as it is, most people die in 1 round, so looking at the kill-feed to see if someone died doesn't help much when people are dying left and right. If you can't see a corpse, expect resistance.

No. Thunderstorm takes out my internet in a 'No Logging' area. What happens then? Does my character not log out? Do I insta-die? What happens if the server loses connection to the internet, but remains active and a large portion are disconnected in no-log areas? Do they just insta-die when that character reconnects to the hive? Do they insta-die while in other servers? If it moves us into log-in zones in the wild, what happens when people start camping these zones for easy targets logging in? This has been thought about over and over again. There isn't much the devs can do.

Attempt to swim with a backpack and gear? Drown like a boy. Attempt to swim, and drop gear that weighs you down? Survive like a man. Come back later and reclaim lost gear; Intelligent decision. Snipe guy on beach as he drags himself from the waves- Priceless.
-
I agree with Zombo, if I could study the body to tell what killed him, then sure they could remove the kill feed. But otherwise? Please no. I like watching people die over and over again, adds to the atmosphere of death being everywhere, and helps me feel like I'm not alone in the game.
-
How many NVG users have you met ingame? I haven't found a single one. I recently started playing with a clan, I think they have 1 member with a pair. I think. I could be wrong that number is 0. NVGs are extremely rare, and the dupped ones are getting turned into food and stuff, so I don't see any reason to nerf or remove them. As batteries are not ingame (yet?), that limitor is the only thing not around that could affect their usage.

Cure for brittle bone disease?
Zeromentor replied to Ghostinthenight's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Pretty sure that one is a bug. Had a friend break his leg by walking over a bottle, when another guy tried it he went through the wall, and fell to his death... Crazy Air Traffic Control towers. -
Cure for brittle bone disease?
Zeromentor replied to Ghostinthenight's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In real life a broken bone sends you to a medical center (hospital, doctor's office, medic, etc), ingame those people are trying to eat you... So what do you do? The next best thing, of course, send your friend to a hospital in one of three cities to find morphine. Lack the friends? Better start crawling. Yeah, it sucks, and I'm sure they are working hard to find another way to do it, maybe even change the mechanic completely, but unless then we just have to get used to breaking bones from a 3-foot fall, or a random zombie punch to the face... The Face... THE FACE. Oh God, my femur's weakness, a punch to the face! EDIT: (I still get the urge to shoot people in the legs with lower caliber rounds, so they bandage and begin, "The Journey") -
Let me guess, your word of the day calendar had, "Redundant" on it? I hope you mean that a feature is no longer needed, in which case that word barely fits the intended role. But it is up to the devs to decide if a feature is unneeded. Oh well. Yeah, they could probably tone down the artery slashing, or atleast change how it works (1 bleed stops after 15 seconds, but 2+ add up AND don't stop on their own. Gunshot wounds are different and would continue as it is now). And for broken legs I sort of agree, but in a different way. I think they should add more broken features. Broken arms that increase recoil and chances of shock per shot for one. Maybe even brushed or broken ribs? Reduce run speed, or something.

I say drink from pumps, wells, etc, but from a pond it might be too dangerous. We can always pretend we use charcoal tablets on our water bottles, but for free drinking from a stagnant pond? Yikes. Much of the ponds in this game I wouldn't drink boiled water from, much less straight out.

I agree with Haplo, too many things to consider. What if Player A is on a hill and Player B fires up at him from 500 meters away, only to miss, but his round past by Player A missing by 1 meter? Didn't impact the ground, and the Player B is really far away. 10 Seconds? 30? 45? I've had firefights at well over 500 meters (which is insane, as the ammo wasted makes me regret it afterward).
-
Yes, good idea.
-
It might be hard to code, but it should be more like there would be like 15 channels for a handheld radio, and you should be able to change to whatever channel you want. But the radios only go out so far, like 5Km MAX. That's pretty far, so even 2Km would be good. Text comms and voice comms allowed, but no side chat. Because the communication isn't encrypted, anyone can listen in, so bandits can track people if they get too close, and other people can meet up without having to use TS, Vent, Mumble, or get absurdly close to what could be a hostile player.
-
I think I got a brilliant idea, if it would even work ingame. Ajdust the rate of fire for the crossbow to like 1 round per 3 seconds, after each round have it play the reload animation. Now bolts can stack, but the rate of fire is kept down and the animation plays to keep it looking natural, instead of actually reloading a bolt (magazine) after each bolt fired.
-
I'm pretty sure they are trying to make this work already. Just wait patiently.
-
What about introverted, or hermit type people that dislike being near groups of others? Reclusive people ingame would also need another hidden bar that raises when they are near people (the stress of being near people) and goes down when they are alone. Oh, and while we have that, we need the option to allow our character to be a sociopath or psychopath, so that murders take no toll on our mental level. After all, up to 4% of the population might be 'suffer' from anti-social personality disorders, and that'd need to be ingame as well. And while we drop ideas in, I would like a urination bar, so my character needs to take a 3 minute break after downing sodas... Or we can drop this idea. Next thing you know all players online would be suffering PTSD from a few ingame firefights...
-
Yeah, I agree. The zombies obviously swipe at your throat and chest, so broken necks and fractured ribs should happen a lot more often (stopping any sprinting, and in some cases, breathing). Or... You can deal with crawling for miles (or restarting).
-
Not everyone has a mental break down due to zombies or murder. Just saying. Mental health can already be seen ingame as players kill each other due to paranoia that the other player might attempt to harm them if they catch them. Many people that used to call, "FRIENDLY" as they neared another now fire on sight due to wrongs commited in the past. But an illness for if you get too cold (IE sick) could provide one with hallucinations, or mindless gibbering.
-
Before I leave these forums for hours, I want to add one thing here. OP, break your leg and try to walk on it. Try to crawl on it. Try wiggling it... Being able to crawl without blacking out is a sign that your character is a GOD to suppress such incredible pain.

For the Love of All That Is Crossbows: QUIVERS
Zeromentor replied to Time Glitch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bolt Quiver as a magazine, reload animation after each and every round fired, test to make sure that it doesn't glitch and instantly reload if you put the weapon away and pull it back out. Think it could work? Might make crossbows less useless. (As far as I can tell, each bolt is treated like a magazine, which is why it takes up so much space for so many. A magazine with one round, to be clear.) -
kukri and melee weapons mechanics
Zeromentor replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As long as the Devs don't go crazy like the last few zombie games, and make melee all powerful (Dead Rising, Dead Island, etc) I'm fine with the addition of most any melee weapon, in reality. But I would expect easy to find ones, like axes, hammers, crowbars, sledgehammers, hunting knives and maybe even a chainsaw if you were crazy enough to use it (uses gas, makes loud noises). I'd love to discuss the kukri, and the insane damage it could cause to a clear strike against a man's neck or upper thigh, but I need to visit my bank. I'd rather see more guns, though. :P -
Breaking Bones needs to be reworked
Zeromentor replied to schadowhunter's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Bugs are bugs, you report them and hope they are fixed. Broken bones is a neat part of the game, and sure it sucks if you are alone and lack morphine. But they could add something like the ability to set the bone manually, without morphine to dull the senses. But it would be very costly in either blood, bandages or even going unconscious like you had less than 3000 blood.
