I don't know, did you check to make sure all the contents were there after you moved away from the body?

More like airsoft guns. Between your lag, server lag and the other person's lag, you might as well expect the damage to not be instant. If it is, awesome. If it isn't, you expected it.

Double check and make sure your game (both the mod and full game) are up-to-date, fully patched, and that you are running the right version. Also, make sure you are playing an updated server. That's all I know that might help, sorry for your loss.

Seriously, Good luck. I've played tons of zombie games, but many go the, "Hey lets make melee the core feature" and that gets old. Or zombies that just aren't (Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, the new Resident Evil Games excluding Raccoon City).
-
Did you switch twice? Sometimes if you switch once, it seems like it didn't, so people do it again. Then the game bugs and tells you that you now have his pack, when in reality you just repicked up your old one. Fixes upon reconnecting.

Zombies do open doors (seen them doing it at firestations) so I think they aren't ignoring the closed door, but it doesn't register as them opening it, so they just 'phase' through, when the door is really open for them... But not for us, because the game didn't register them as actually openning it. IE: It's a bug, as stated.

If you log out in pain or in shock you get a timer, knocked out for 5 minutes. Best not to disconnect when hurt. Also, it has been seen that some servers bug out and knock you out, even if you are a fresh spawn with no damage taken, or haven't taken any damage for hours. Try another server if you want to.

As others have said, there is a delay in the damage. Easy to see when you shoot a zombie then wait to see him run a step and fall over. Sometimes if you don't wait for them to update the damage into their blood meter, you overdo the shooting. Pretend there is a 1 second delay from shooting to hit, no matter the distance, then another 1 second delay for the damage to appear. Ping is how long it takes the packet to reach the other user and transmit that it arrived, so 300 ping is 300ms, or roughly 0.3 seconds. Take into account that there could be packet loss, so that ping means very little if they only recieve half the information (they see you fired 1 round, when you fired 3). This goes both ways. Generally, I pretend it takes twice as many rounds to kill a player as it does a zombie, but guns like high powered rifles (M24, Lee Enfield, CZ550) are usually a 1-hit kill with the player bleeding to death in short order. 2 shotgun slugs should have killed the first guy at close range (15 meters, give or take), maybe 3. That other guy is probably pretty messed up. QUICK EDIT: If you hit someone with a Lee Enfield and they don't die, it could be your connection. Try playing on servers with less than 100 ping for you, and make sure your connection is good (open the right ports, run a free speed test on Speedtest.net, etc) EDIT: Fixed an Error in time.

The recent changes in the last few patches are actually causing disconnections much more frequently. What do I mean? No weapons on spawn, super-sense zombies and a slowly increasing number of snipers. What do you get? New players get tired of running from zombies, as they refuse to die, but can't fight back with a flashlight. What do they do? Disconnect to cause the zombies to despawn. Super-sensing zombies, which are not intended, are easily able to see and hear players, even when they prone-crawl. This causes them to charge at players. Most people know a single hit is pretty much enough to cause you to bleed (and under 9k blood, fall down) as well as have a pretty high chance to break your legs. What do many players do? Run. What does that do? Add more zombies to the chase. So the player disconnects. This makes newer players start to think that this is a legit method to avoiding the zeds. Why not use it against players as well? Snipers, poor shots at that, sit up near cities and military tents in Stary, raining hell on people just trying to loot. I'm not against that, I've done it before, but this causes many players to freak out at any gunshot they hear (means a round is incoming to their head) so they disconnect. Weapons that don't kill the target before the packets get to their computer and load up the damage are nearly useless against these players as they disconnect when they notice their blood going down or their character is in pain. Want to see something funny? Go to a server with side chat still enabled and carry around a scoped rifle or binocs. Call out to people running in the streets of a city, or crouching on the tops of buildings. Watch as they disconnect as soon as they get done reading your text message. Did this on a Reddit server for some cheap laughs. Something needs to be done. Logout timers, insta-killing players that disconnect in a 15 second window of taking damage, or even forcing zombies that disconnect with the player to reload with them, still aggro'd and angry. I don't care, but something needs to be done. I stopped running with a group of players when they decided that disconnecting in fights, or to escape snipers was a legit tactic. TL;DR- Rant= "Stop disconnecting, you cowards". Plea for fix.

Don't move around too much, unless you need to move quickly, then stand up and haul butt. DO NOT CROUCH WALK OR CRAWL! Snipers have no problem hitting slow targets, and when you move you reveal your location VERY easily. I've spotted people just from a backpack waving on a hill. I never seen the person, but I fired just below the waving pack and scored a kill. Also, Ghillie Suit. Chances are you won't see these guys, even my friends can't see each other. Funny as hell listening to two people try to find each other when they were just following one another. "Where are you?" "I don't know, where are you?" "Throw a chemlight..." [Chemlight hits ground] "Oh, you're the bush I was hiding behind."

I really like the FN Fal, but the ammo is too rare. M16A2 is pretty dependable, as well as the AK74 Kobra. The ammo for both is common. If you want killing power, but don't want a sniper rifle, check out the Lee Enfield.

Safe way to move primary weapons from and to backpack?
Zeromentor replied to ALICE666's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I laughed at your name. I've had many ALICE backpacks eat my guns, so I feel this is some kind of joke anyhow. Cosmic or whatever. Anyhow, make sure you have 10+ spaces, as stated above. Also, make sure if you are replacing a weapon that you have the space for the magazines BOTH WAYS. For some reason the game likes to eat guns before magazines, so one wrong miscalculation is the end for your gun. Lost an M24 from this, didn't even get the chance to test the scope... -

so some invisible hacker(s) was just trolling me

Best hacker ever. Why can't they all share this kind of sense of humour instead of just nuking servers? -
Buildings All Rubble in Cherno+Random Death=?
Zeromentor replied to Yeung-Jin's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Sounds like a hacker. There was a small chance it was a clan bombing the city, but that is so rare it is more likely it was a hacker. -
No thank you. (Other players have explained why not, I don't intend to take up more space restating it)

Footsteps should be louder
Zeromentor replied to CongressmanAlexShrub's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
With my volume as loud as it is, it sounds like everyone is dragging their feet through leaves, mud and branches. I have almost no issue hearing them running around, or even wiggling in the prone position. But realize that tapping 'W' makes little to no sound for yourself and others, though it is slow. Also, some people play with the volume turned off, or listen to music, watch TV in the background, etc. Why? I don't know. I like to pay attention to even the slightest noises, to know what is around me and what is coming. Guess I'm wierd like that. -
They are pretty rare, but if you know how to "zero" (or are on a server that gives range with a simple mouse scroll) you can get easy kills. I perfer using the Lee Enfield due to the ease of access to ammunition and you can use it at close range as a slug shotgun of sorts (hits HARD), but the CZ550 has it's own little place. NOTE: Replace with DMR, M24 or similar rifles as soon as possible, they are better in most aspects. Good luck finding them.

A few things. 1. Are you in water? I've actually broken my leg and then once I was out of the uncon timer I couldn't move in an inch of water. 2. Are you under something, such as a building, fence, pole, rubble or something else? The 5 minute timer for nothing seems to be a bug on some servers and I don't know how to fix it. It's something to discourage disconnecting in a fight, but a few times it seems players catch it hours after taking any kind of damage. I'd recommend suicide and trying to play on a different server.

Rocket is partially causing DC'ers
Zeromentor replied to Zeromentor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To add to the original point of this thread, I didn't mean drop everything to fix this. But keep in mind that any attempts to make zombies more dangerous is just met with, "Why stealth past when I can run through the town and DC?" And I'm not putting the blame solely on Rocket, or the DayZ mod. I'm just stating that recent game mechanics, such as spawning without a weapon, make it seem that disconnecting to avoid zombies, instead of simply running up a hill or into a building, looks to be a method that anyone can use, even though Rocket has CLEARLY stated that doing so is an exploit. My initial rant might have been a bit childish, but the information remains the same even if the delivery needs some work. -
Great way to mess up your computer. Please, keep doing it, for the advancement of humanity.

Hacking, but blow it up for the LOLZ! FOR THE LOLZ!!!

ALICE is bigger (20 compared to 16) but the Czech has additional camo for when you are prone or hiding in a bush. I perfer ALICE. EDIT for error.

10 times in the chest with what? A 5.56 stanag mag? That is more than you need, but there is always a chance you missed, or fired too many. From my experience, 5.56 seems to do 3-4k blood per hit. Also remember it takes nearly a second for your info to reach them (due to how the servers seem to work) and in that time you probably were shooting a dead body, whereas on his screen you probably shot him once and killed him.
