Vuce, you are walking a thin line man, don't go crazy. In any case, I still think the zombies ingame are interdimensional crazyfolk. (Infected, Living People, like "28 days later")

Remove bandits killed and murders count
Zeromentor replied to Releak's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Half the time I think I killed someone, and they disconnected. Sometimes they disconnect, reconnect and die, but I don't get a kill. Your stats don't tell you everything. Sure, it makes it easier to see when you have killed someone, but right now it is just a debug window. What happens if you kill someone and it starts counting as 999 kills and glitches out? The Devs would need to know that, or the humanity system could get really messed up. They need that debug window as of right now. And it is your duty as a tester to test, test, test. And kill more players... -
Yeah, if you want to kill zombies with friends, Minecraft works. So does Dead Frontier, Dead Island, Dead Rising 2 (2 player co-op) and Left4Dead (1&2). If you want a survival mod, with PvP and Zombies, welcome to DayZ.

Character death should carry more weight
Zeromentor replied to Lukio (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Okay see, that is not a lockout timer. But that mechanic won't work here as no random person is going to save your dead body, drag you to safety and somehow revive you. You. Are. Dead. From what I can tell from what you said, a meaningful death would be your screen blacking out, with whatever killed you looking you dead in the eyes. Zombies eating you, shooter looting you, or just looking up into the sky. But sitting around for tens of minutes? No. And no medevac transport team is coming to save you. -
You took that as an insult and then insulted me and my limited vocabulary?! Have at you, sir! No but seriously, get used to getting shot. It isn't ending, getting limited or even slowed in the slightest in the foreseeable future.

Correct, it is very hard to break a leg bone with just your arms. However, it is not hard to break your leg at the knee joint, ankle or the foot. Also, read the 1.7.2 patch notes.

He is right, they can use the same sized round. 9x18 Makarov for both, though the PP-19 can use 9x19 as well.

Even if you tried to force people to work together, you will ALWAYS have people kill you for the laugh. They have nothing better to do. Many will even play games with NO PVP and still find ways to ruin your happy fun experience. Look at minecraft in creative mode on the PC as a great one. Griefers love to ruin your experience, simple as that. To stop people from randomly killing each other for no reason, you either have to break this game (force PvP to end) or you have to systematically teach each and every person to not kill randomly. And even then, you'd still have griefers. TL;DR- Get used to getting shot.

1. I think this is a problem with the engine, not by design. 2. Supported. 3. Yes and no. I like third person, but it is too easy to use it to spot people without showing yourself. But the lean ingame doesn't lean enough, and half the time I have to show a large portion of my body just to see around a corner (which is a major pain when you are trying not to get shot). 4. They are trying to fix stuff. 5. Game Engine and all that jazz. You want Skyrim, play Skyrim. They can't port Skyrim's engine into Arma2. Melee isn't something that is really in Arma2, so zombies, melee weapons and the like are a major pain to get working.

No. If you can't see how this will be abused, I'll worry about your mental health when I have nothing better to do.

Making ghillie suits more common is a bad idea. Have you tried finding some of these people? And crash sites are fairly random, so server hopping won't often drop you on another crash site. The fun part is some people camp them, so hoppers tend to drop in on a sniper if they do find one. Personally, I'd rather have to find a rare ghillie spawn than know that hundreds or thousands are being keep ingame and more are being looted, making it a common item instead of rare. (Note: I have never once found a ghillie suit, and only a handful of my friends have found one)

Character death should carry more weight
Zeromentor replied to Lukio (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
How would death be more profound? You die, you lose everything. Good enough. What you're asking for is the game to lock people out for an extended amount of time for dying, which is a fairly common occurance. People die, a lot. They lose their stuff, a lot. And a lot of that stuff isn't, "Easy" to find. When was the last time you found a Bus, Truck, Van and 2 FN Fals, a Bizon, and M107 in the same spot? Now imagine losing all of that. Easy to find? What? And this mod is free, what are you on about, "fixated on their imba loot gear, that they got for free anyway."? Are you saying it didn't take TIME to get that? Or are you saying that the version of the game you are on magically drops ghillie suits, AS-50s and GAZs from the sky? Why do you want a lockout so much? What reason? To make death hurt more? To the point that people would actual STOP playing? Cause that is what would happen. Any other reasons, maybe something more 'profound'? -
Clans and groups of people, as well as the random vehicle hoarder, keeps them all. Good luck finding one. I usually blow them up so they'll reappear somewhere else on the map for new people. Better than a clan having another trophy they keep parked next to a tree...

Some feedback and ideas. A giant wall of text.
Zeromentor replied to SillySil's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Okay okay okay. 4 sentences per paragraph. Space them evenly. Topic header and maybe bold the idea. Example: I like Pie Pie is a great dish, and I love talking about it. I once heard the cake is a lie. It haunts me in my dreams, speaking to me, telling me to do aweful things. Now I sit outside of my neighbor's house, watching them through the windows... Naked. About like that. Being that this is a forum, and many people (like myself) ignore huge walls of text, add a TL;DR version at the bottom. Or maybe a few of them, for each item on your list. -

The one and only Anti-PVP/PvP Discussion thread! Whine/discuss here!
Zeromentor replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Guy with axe, meet guy with sniper rifle. Both need stealth to pick and kill victims with ease. One is actively hunting the other. PvP is more about skill than weapons, why I run with Lee Enfields and M16s so much, because they are easy to find, not because I can hit players from 1200 meters at night. Sure, some people camp loot sites, or kill fresh spawns, but some people would just follow you and block doorways and take your loot if there was no PvP. Or draw ALL the zombies to you. Or constantly hit you in the face with smoke grenades. Or scream in their mic until you muted them, and then come back with a different name and do it again. Or barb wire you in place when you go AFK. Or push you into the water with a car. Or anything else you can think up. Lack of PvP does not equal lack of griefers, they just find new means. -

Let's remove loot as well, no point in collecting stuff if death takes it all away. And remove the ability to join servers, too. Yeah, I went there. -
Intended mechanic is intended. Mod based on a military simulator, groups are needed to be the best. Loners get killed, don't help with the objective. In DayZ (this mod) if you travel alone, you tend to get overpowered by, and eaten by, the infected. Pushes you into travelling with a team. You can go solo, but things like this will happen. As well as getting 1-shot by snipers (no revenge for you cause you alone) and blood transfusions being useless to you (can't poke yourself). Imagine an adrenaline filled meth+speed junkie punching you in the jaw, then proceeding to beat your butt down while eating you. You might just need help to get him off you. We aren't all chuck norris.

Bandit/Survivor Morphing to be removed
Zeromentor replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Bandit Skin: Pro- You can tell who killed people. Con- Self Defense is considered murder. You would become a bandit by defending yourself, pushing you into killing MORE people to defend yourself more often. Meaning you stayed a bandit, and not because you wanted to, or you died and lost your stuff. Wasn't really fair. That's the general idea anyway. -
I tried a similar suggestion, it was shot down quickly. I gave up on it just as quickly. And I actually agreed with the death of that thread, so NOPE.
-
Grab a weapon like an AK-74. The ammunition is easy to find and plentiful, plus the other versions of the AK-74 can use the same ammo (not the AKM). 2 rounds, 1 dead zombie. Repeat ad nauseum.
-
Search Function, I believe there to be one on this forum, unless it recently broke, or I'm from another world... Nope, still there. Also: Not Supported. I could understand why people want to let friends, relatives, random people play the game on their computer, but it could be easily abused by most other people.

Barbed Wire Getting Annoying
Zeromentor replied to Bruce (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They could easily limit the defenses to a set amount per player, or only allow them up for a limited time. Be patient, something has to be in the works.
