Being revived? good idea or bad?

When a person has lost the amount of blood needed to kill you, and your heart stops pumping, then nothing short of a ton of experience medical staff and lots of equipment is going to bring you back. "Defibs" as people seem to like to call them, would do nothing to save you. And an epi-pen ingame does about the same thing ingame. Blood transfusions can save a person that is nearly dead, sure, and morphine can be used to ignore much of the pain that goes into setting a broken bone, and "Bandages" aren't just random freaking bandaids. Unless the bullet hit a major organ or caused a fatal wound (which you would die from, usually by bleeding out, like the case is ingame) it wouldn't be that much of a hassle to deal with. What I'm trying to say is, Medical Knowledge is key and trying to adapt into a VIDEO GAME to make it make sense is better than arguing about things that would be useless ingame to be added ingame. Not a good idea, get first aid training in real life as well. Learn what happens to a person with very little or no blood.

    Melee Weapon and Rifle?

Should have the hunting knife as a melee weapon, but take like 10 hits to the body, or 3 to the head for a kill. That could be a sidearm, as it doesn't technically take the same space as an axe or crowbar, but also doesn't have the damage to make it fit in with the big boys.
  3. Yeah, I had a similar thing happen, but I didn't die. I was camping the NWAF for snipers (I kill them for their gear instead of taking the time to loot the barracks) and a person asked in local if anyone was at the NWAF. I hailed him, spoke to him a little to find out what he was doing there and what he needed. He said he was in a hangar with a broken leg, and had recently spawned there, and that his friend was a sniper but neither had any morphine. SO, he wanted me to come over and help him. He told me his friend was no longer set up in the NWAF and was friendly as long as I didn't harm him (I knew this was BS, as a person that isn't there can't hurt you if you harm someone, basic freaking common sense). But this tells me there is someone here with gear I might want, and only having the basic survival tools, an M4A3 and not much else (Camo suit, food, water canteens, etc) I decided to hunt for his 'sniper'. I told him I'd be there soon, a standard lie, but it would take me some time to close the distance (which was really time I needed to hunt for the sniper, as I was already nearby, not far off as I led him to believe). I stalked around but was unable to find his buddy and decided that maybe he did pack up and leave, and I didn't have much to lose anyhow. I moved towards the hanger the guy claimed to be in and noticed the large amount of zombies walking around there and nowhere else, telling me he was IN the hangar, and not stationed outside of it with a rifle in waiting. So before I approached, I told him I was just around the corner, right as a zombie started to cross out into the open near the rather large entrance. *Ratatatatatata*, his AK goes off at the thing he obviously thought was me. I watched the zombies head in and make short work of him, so I guess he really did have a broken leg and was unable to run away. But when zombies started to appear at the other end of the airfield I decided not to check and see what he might have on him. Long story short, I never found his sniper friend, and left the airfield 3 days later after finding no one of real value to loot.

    Guns? Why need guns?

More melee use is not realistic, and it is hard to add more melee weapons that work with such a buggy engine that does not support melee weapons. Taking into account realism, it seems most people think melee weapons (like knives) are all powerful superweapons at close range. They aren't. Infact, without proper training, I doubt anyone in this forum can kill a man with a knife before he unloads an entire magazine of 30 rounds, SEMIAUTO, into you. Slice his throat? Cool, now he has ~30 seconds or more to kill you with his gun. Hit him in the stomach with a pitchfork? Awesome, let's just hope the shock doesn't cause him to blow you away. Have you even hit anything with a fireaxe? Cool item you can use as a weapon, but it won't lop off arms and legs, or do much more than create a fatal wound on a target that will have plenty of time to shoot you to death (unless you somehow hit a person in the head, and in reality, good luck with pulling that off). I liked Dead Island, but like many recent zombie games the thing was based around horribly unrealistic melee concepts. Also, these zombies aren't half rotting undead, they are ALIVE infected people, with what seem to be increased muscle strength and a decreased sight capability (compared to people). Have you tried taking on a crowd with just an axe? You come out bleeding with a lot of missing blood, or dead, unless you exploit slowed zombies indoors or get lucky. Ending that, I would agree that AMMUNITION, not weapons, needs a reduction. Guns don't simply disappear because their owner died, and people leave perfectly usable guns laying around based on the absense of ammo, not because 100 rounds made the gun suddenly disappear. Guns would be found anywhere there were people (ignoring, of course, places were the government steal the ability of ranged self defense from individuals, but this place isn't one of those locales). Adding more melee weapons? Might happen. Basing the game more on melee and less on firearms? That won't happen, and I don't support it either.

For those who encounter hackers all the time

@DeadManDan No, the tank spawning is still around. Day before yesterday TX20 was reset like 3 times to get rid of tanks blowing up Cherno and the players within.

M14 Sniper Rifle and Bear Traps

From what I can tell, and have heard from various random strangers and friends alike, the M14 is more of a medium-range support 'Sniper Rifle'. Due to the limited range thanks to the CCO (as you put it) it would be useful for supporting people as you moved from one area to another, as well as fluid intercity firefights. But for actual sniping, it is outclassed by many of the other sniper rifles due to the limited scope range. I would recommend dropping the M14 for either an assault rifle, or a shotgun for medium-close range combat and keep the CZ550 for long range. Unless you are with friends, and are the 'sniper' of the group, then you might want to keep it for when the long range scopes of other rifles might be too long a zoom. Also, I have not seen a beartrap yet.
  7. As of this thread, there is a hacker on the TX20 server hosted by Sherdoggers flying around different planes, jets and attack helios. He has blown up all of the Northwest Airfield and left behind 1 C-130 and 1 Osprey (MV-22 or whatever the name is). Right now he is flying over one of the major cities in a helio. I last seen him in a chinook, but he was also seen flying a 'little bird' and firing rockets. I don't know his name.

    Was it wrong?

I would have shot them. I've done similar by myself, and once threatened to throw a frag into an ATC unless they came out. I didn't have a frag, I shot them as they exited. One DC'd, the other died. Nice to leave them the worst (maybe second worst) gun in the game. Some would see it as an insult, though. Beware, they might seek revenge.

    No wonder people hack!!

I was running around in the woods once and spotted a rabbit. I scoped in on it and all of a sudden my legs broke out from under me. Luckily I had morphine, but when I got up I spotted a second rabbit running towards me. SNAP, AHHHH. Broke my legs again...

Rolling bit random but gotta ask

New troll ability unlocked, "How to get countless people to break thier legs." No but seriously, that sounds neat if it works and wasn't just a 1-time glitch.

    New Camo-Skin: urban Camo

I love Urban camo (the grey and black blob one, not red brick or russian). The game really needs more skins, and there are tons in Arma2 that can be used! Or editted.
  12. M4A3 CCO with flashlight and Red dot sight, using SD stanag rounds (to keep zombies off me, not to be silent) M1911, for those times I need to put zombies down and don't want to waste stanag SD rounds. ALICE pack, Camo Skin (not ghillie), Binocs.

OMG I see something a night

No moon no light. The moon is the only thing that gives any real light at night, not the stars. So if the moon sets below the horizon then you lose all light in the area.

    Close to death (blood limitations)

Don't think of it as total blood in the human body, but the most you can lose before you die. Plus, it's just a number, made up by a person working on a mod for a game. Don't think too much into it.

    Less-than-Lethal options???

Rubber bullets, make them do 25% the damage, have an extremely high chance to knock out the target player, and have no chance to bleed. That's my idea for rubber bullets. Best for shotguns or M203s. Maybe a short range stungun as well? 30 meter max range, max knockout chance, no damage, bleeding or chance of broken bones. But a mace? Bit of an oddity in a society like today, right? How many places could a mace possible be hidden? Nah, bit much. Maybe let the crowbar knock people out for a headshot. Supported, without the mace. (If you mean Mace as in the chemical, then pepperspray is better in every possible fashion)

I got a train to catch!

I'm not sure if the engine could support this. If it could, the train would be limited in areas it can travel to, as well as extreme amount of items needed to resupply and repair it. And based on the tracks, I'd imagine a train on this map would be steam or coal driven, not so much magnetic. (in the simplist terms, of course)
  17. Protected Camp meet my friends, M67 Frag and Off-Road Truck. They'll be nice, I swear. And the bit about letting only the creator 'spawn' in on the camp, I hope you mean log in, because letting them respawn at the camp site is BLASPHAMY! BLASPHAMY I SAY!!
  18. The FN Fal is awesome, iron sights or not. Too bad you didn't get the kill. I loved my FN Fal for a long time, until I lost it to a mistake, trusting teammates to actually know there own locations... But seriously OP, try to space out your paragraphs. A general 'Enter' after four sentences should do, just don't run them together in huge blocks like above. Thanks in advance.

    Vysota Barn Craziness

Good fight. And to the other guys, I've never DC'd during a fight. I've died plenty of times where DC'ing could have left me with my life and loot.

Video: How is he still alive!!!?

Okay a few things I have seen pointed out, but feel the need to do so again. The first guy that went in, I can't make any good comments based on the fact that I didn't see what happened. Many times I've been told by people that they, "pumped a magazine" into the target, but in FRAPS I see only 1-3 bullets hitting out of 30. Not saying that is what happened, only saying you can't guarentee that you didn't miss without solid evidence. 2nd, the shooter through the window missed most of the rounds. I pretend the windows are generally bullet proof, so I don't shoot through them if I can help it. Maybe 1 hit the target, and then they hit the deck. Not nearly enough to kill even a wounded player. The sniper (man in the hallway) took so long to do anything I could have bandaged myself in that amount of time. 3rd, he used 3rd person to shoot the target. BAD MOVE, this compromises your accuracy to an insane amount, and in the video I seen him make some serious mistakes. The first round DID NOT hit the target. The second looked to be a miss as well. As said, don't fire using third person if you can help it, and remember the bullet comes out of the barrel, not your head, not your sight. Otherwise, that guy was extremely lucky and your team was very unlucky. With the hits he took he was probably pretty hurt, but from my experience, a single round from an M4 and some rounds from a silenced pistol DO NOT KILL OFTEN. Again, I can't comment on the first fight that I couldn't see as anything could have been to blame, from lag (firing at a person before they were completely loaded) to bad aim (can't see, can't tell, nothing but assumptions). Also when in Stary Sobor it is a good idea to get in and out quickly, you were there in only a few select spots for much too long. I understand that you had sniper support, but I've turned lootings like that into bad mistakes by myself alone, disappearing into the brush before I even heard return fire, and that was with a civilian skin on. So. I'm not trying to be rude, this is contructive criticism. We all have been there (mistakes under pressure) it happens to the best and worst of us. Bad luck is named that for a reason :P

    MK48 vs FN FAL

That's why I like the FN Fal, even with the limited ammo. 3 mags last a long time if you don't spray at everything that moves. I've never used an Mk 48 though. I suppose the ability to put more rounds down range would be good if you are trying to suppress a group of people, or put down a group in seconds. The FN Fal would be better at accurate medium-long range fire, but with iron sights you might be a bit limited in engagements over 300 meters, and outclassed at 500+ by weapons with scopes. But more rounds down range means a better chance of hitting and killing the targets, but you will become a MASSIVE target.

What were the arma developers thinking?

You can only find out how to stop hackers by them bypassing your defenses with hacks. In other words, you find a defense to their offense. But they have to offend you first. Battleye does it's job fine, it isn't the best in the world, but is far from the worst.

    Lee einfield vs Crossbow

Lee Enfield. The problems with the crossbow are many, and the pros weighing against the cons are few. And against players? The bolts tend to hang in the air after they hit the target, and the opposing player can look at it and tell EXACTLY where you fired from. Plus, you need more than 1 bolt to kill a player, and the reloading seems to take forever in a firefight, which WILL happen. Also, the bolts tend to glitch and disappear, hide under bodies, or go through the target and disappear far, far away. So, go with the Lee Enfield. Just don't fire it often, or you'll find that the old nickname 'rings' true.
