    Chernarus should have a story

In the end, hell openned up and started farting out horrible mists. As the survivor was locked in a meat locker, stuck between his girlfiend and the wall in the darkness, the mist infected and mutated everything it touched. One day, after devouring your girlfriend in more ways than one, you escaped the meatlocker. You find a flashlight, your trusty cache of painkillers and some bandages in a busted firstaid kit, you try to take a swim in the ocean and wind up on the Chernarus shore. Then a zombie eats you, Press Disconnect to continue. Repeat Ad Nauseum.

    *Angry emotion* AHH

If Battleye banned you, then you were running a script you shouldn't have been running. I suggest you do a virus scan with something just to be sure. Malwarebytes works, as well as many others. Also, where did you get your game? Steam? You wouldn't get banned so quickly just for being on a server as it was hacked, YOU did something you shouldn't have, whether it be downloading and using an illegal script, or collect a virus by accident.

What is it you want from Dayz?

Because this forum doesn't like 1-word answers: FUN.

Agree or Disagree? Why we kill...

You have failed armchair psychology. How did you fail? You assume everyone thinks the same way you do, and do not have different life experiences, emotions, values or morals. Much less culture or nature/nurture upbringing. I'm a sociopath. Your life means as little to me as the shadow on the wall. You have a life you live, just as I do, but your values might be valuable to me. Plus, one of the Dev of this mods LIKES the PvP aspect, so don't try to tell people that PvP is not the point of this mod. This is a sandbox. I play with the tools I'm given how I want to, and until you pay me to do otherwise, you have no say on what I do with said tools. And I'm half asleep.

    Starting Weapon!!

You realize you no longer have food or water to sustain you in your home, so you decide to leave. On your way out, in the pitch black night, you hear footsteps and turn on your flashlight to see the mist hidden dewy pre-morning darkness. The light bounces off a moving shape, which now turns to your direction and begins to scramble across the ground rapidly. Boom, zombie attack. Your guns are great for fending off the assaulting infected, but soon you find the lead-throwing machines do nothing more than attract more to your position. As you try to flee, you find the empty weapons are nothing more than weights slowing you down and as you try to jump over a fence you find they stop your escape. You throw them at the approaching infected and use the subtle halt of their advance to quickly throw yourself over the fence into the shallow water beyond. You find yourself near the beach and quickly swim your life. As the sun rises, and you finally hit sand, you find yourself on a beach in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but a flashlight from the night before, and some bandages and painkillers you packed, you move on with your life. Congrats, I just made you a poorly thought out starting reason for why you have NOTHING OF VIOLENT VALUE. Or, you moved to Europe and they took your guns. Before you could get a new european background check and license, the zombies invaded. Sucks for you, time to start surviving. Pick your poison.
  6. I'm sorry if reading more than just the title frustrated you. You seem to think that limiting the amount of ammunition will increase players helping each other and being nice and friendly to one another. It will not. More people will be MORE unfriendly. They'll get a magazine of 10 rounds for a Lee Enfield, a pretty common spawn, which kills in 1 hit. They will see other players loot a nearby barn, and when they don't come out with a weapon that player might leave them alone. What is more likely, he'll kill them, because they could have another 10+ rounds for his Lee Enfield, as it is a common spawn, more than other military weapons. Why trade? A bullet works much better. Plus, if a player sees someone now heading to him with a melee weapon, he won't assume the player is coming to ask for a trade, but that melee wielding player is coming to claim the gun in his hands by blood-spewing means. Basic Human Psychology means humans would work together for FOOD, WATER and Shelter. As we need only FOOD and WATER ingame, and there is only enough for 1 of us, most would rather use a single round to know they have food and water. Your death doesn't mean the end of your life, but the loss of your equipment. Death means very little. Power comes out the end of a gunbarrel. In this virtual world, people would rather kill you. Especially when those people usually play military simulators, not creative block-building simulator-craft. This community is not based on trusting random strangers, but killing them if they have something of value, or can give you something of value (More kills on Debug Window for instance). People are more ruthless, less trusting and generally more annoying on the internet. This isn't reallife. Oh, and in real life, I have more ammunition in my house than there is people in my neighborhood. I could go around the houses around me, and collect enough guns to supply a small militia. I don't expect you to understand this. In this mod's world, guns are plentiful. Not wooden swords. People can kill each other more easily, with less danger, and with less time than chasing them around with a freaking wooden sword.
  7. Try this. Drop everything on the ground inside of a building or in a safe tent or something. Move FAR away. Equip skin. Promptly break your leg, fall through map, or just lose everything you had still in your inventory. Go back and recollect what you left behind. Might work, might not.

    loot?

Sometimes people cleaned it out before you did. Sometimes it didn't spawn (leave the area and then come back). And sometimes, nothing spawns because nothing spawned. 50% chance isn't 100% chance of loot. Sometimes you get unlucky.

    safe car option?

Yeah, don't put things in cars and hope they'll come back, they probably won't. Once had a truck, van and bus with some serious loot (stole it from some random people), few days later the server moved and when it finally came back they had wiped it. None of my stuff, nor the other camp was there. Checked a few more times, gave up. Oh well. Either keep it on you, or spread it out over a few servers incase one goes down or they all get wiped on a patch.
  10. Hope that you find all that missing stuff on a dead guy. Seriously. Sorry man, it's all gone. And you don't HAVE a DMR, you HAD a DMR...

Quad core boost of arma 2 ?

Okay, I'm going to assume people are using Six Launcher. So go to options under the little menu on the left, under the Twitter, Facebook, Google, etc crap. Hit Options, and in Additional Startup Parameters type, -cpuCount=4 You can change the number from 4 to something else according to however many cores you have. 2, 3, 4, 8, whatever. Just don't go over it. I'm pretty sure that is the target line needed. I could be wrong. If I am, I hope someone corrects me. I'll edit this if someone does and I notice. You can also search google to check and see if I am right. I'm too busy watching Greatest Tank Battles Episode 7.

    How to use visual indicator

Wait until nighttime, try a server without a moon. Prone under something, in grass, don't move. Make sure, if you can see them, any shadows are over you. Don't move. Pretty simple for me. Maybe I got lucky? Or unlucky, as visual at 0 doesn't make you immune to zombies, they still see you sometimes...

How to NOT find 1.7.2 servers?

You are pretty much bug testing an Alpha. You should play on 1.7.2 and get used to the new stuff, just don't equip any of the camo'd skins. Not wanting to play 1.7.2 because of bugs and then playing 1.7.1.5 is like trying to eat trout because grouper tastes like fish...
  14. Zeromentor

Quad core boost of arma 2 ?

-cpuCount=4 Use that in target line if you are loading from the .exe file, or add it to the launch options of what you are trying to run it from (Steam, or whatever). Unless I got my commands wrong (which does happen) this should make it use 4 cores.

    How to use visual indicator

Was playing at night with 2 friends. Aggro'd zombies multiple times with a visual rating of 0. Once I was crouched (not moving) and all of a sudden 3 zombies aggro'd at roughly 35 meters away. Visual was 0. One of my friends was nearly killed when he moved and his visual spiked from 0 to 13 and three zombies run up to him and beat him unconscious. By the time we found him, he has less than 1000 blood and was nearly dead. Saved him. So lowered visual helps, but I doubt it means the actual range at which zombies can aggro.

    Death by login

Any number of things could have happened. 1. Zombie attacked as you disconnected. 2. You got shot. 3. You spawned in a buggy spot. Under a tree, in a wall, on stairs, in a door, on an object, etc, and it hurt you. 4. Someone shot you in the debug forest, but you lived and appeared where you were suppose to be before he killed you. And any number of other bugs. So here is the question. Where did you log out, and why?

    MREs

MRE's in military spawns. +1 from me.

    Make boats useful

Boats are good for hitting cities quickly with little resistance and less people are watching the water than you think. But without multiple islands, wrecked freighters or other water-based things we could explore or take over boats leave little reason to be used outside of quick, watery, escape routes. I wouldn't mind a boat with a medium or heavy machine gun stationed on it, like a military patrol boat.
  19. Zeromentor

Realistic? Remove the ability to respawn.

OP, please give me 480 USD and I will support you, as well as a payment of 30 USD per death. Cause really, you are asking for people to pay 30$ every time they die. And with this being an alpha, they WILL die. Anyhow, this has been used time and time again to troll people. Nice going. +0 internets.

    Night = More loot

Yeah, I still think military zombies should be stronger (common, military vests and helmets provide SOME protection!) and they should be more aggressive. But having better loot at night would just lead to more server hopping at night, and just as few players on nighttime servers. Many people think those servers are covered with NVG-wielding snipers going through .50cal rounds like the freaking sun burns through fuel. They aren't. And the few that are are usually so well equipped they'd rather hang around Cherno or Electro during the day with friends than an empty town at night. Sometimes you might see one at the NWAF, but that's rare and it is usually just some guy waiting for the NVG-wielding snipers going through .50cal rounds like the freaking sun burns through fuel guys to show up so they can get a kill and SUPA-RARE LOOTZ.

    Fullmoon nights way too bright

Rule of the thirds. One third hates it, One Third Likes it and the last third doesn't care. The groups move around, but there is always three groups unless you really mess something up. But having people content (the third that doesn't care) and another group happy means you are winning. Debate them, leave them with your opinion or ignore them. Your choice.
  22. Well atleast you are thinking. Anyhow, most servers restart every 12-18 hours. I agree with less ammunition per spawn (God, I have found as many as 6 stanag magazines with an M4). Corpses remaining on the otherhand would cause server issues. People like to continuously respawn over and over and over again until they find the perfect spot. Others run off and die within the first 5 minutes to zombies. The game would be flooded with corpses, and servers would have to restart every 3 hours just to wipe the map of them. The most I want is a more limited spawn of magazines with weapons. Instead of 2-4, make it 1-2. An M16A2 with only 30 rounds makes you think before you shoot. An M16A2 with 150 does not. But limiting more than that causes players to kill each other more often FOR ammo, which defeats the purpose.

    Starting Weapon!!

Yeah, near most spawns on the coast are what can pretty much be called a 'weapons cache'. Balota, Kamenka and Komarov (Did I spell that last one right?) are all near the Balota airfield, which has a good chance to have firearms. (And snipers and players camping it as well) Drakon is a little down the coast of Elektro, so you can hit up the town, or the Firehouse near the powerplant north-east of there. Cherno, Elektro are towns (the undernamed english version, I don't recall the full names) and they are good for firearms, supplies and basic gear. You should have no problem getting a gun or weapon quickly unless you are unlucky. The reason for spawning without a weapon are two-fold. 1. So you don't spawn and start killing players right away. 2. So you have nothing to fight with. You are now the bottom of the food-chain, work your way up. A side benefit (in my opinion) is less people are likely to kill you as you start with nothing of real import. Have fun.

    Claymores

I believe they removed the L85. Anyhow, if the range of the claymore is realistic you could kill a whole squad without an issue. But who travels around hugging the nuts of their teammates???

    Fullmoon nights way too bright

The devs messed with the tone of light for nighttime so it isn't as pitch black dark without the moon. Seriously, without the moon (no moonlight) the area is literally one shade of black. Brightness and gamma turned all the way up makes it a single shade of grey. No blue, white, or anything else. Just 1 color. With the moon out, it is brighter, yes. But it is closer to reality for me than it was before. I live out in a fairly rural area just north of a city, so the light of the city doesn't really bother us here. But I can see pretty well at night in real life. In this game, I need a full moon just to get it close.
