    Walk like a Zombie

That's fine, I didn't see anything on the first page but "Walk Zombie" came up with results like: http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/31654-mimic-zombie-movement-play-dead/page__hl__%2Bwalk+%2Bzombie http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/30514-new-player-animation-play-dead-other-changes/page__hl__+walk%20+zombie#entry294454 http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/12444-walk-like-a-zombie-on-pressing-shift-play-dead/page__hl__%2Bwalk+%2Bzombie I didn't read through them, but those are 3 topics that came up. I didn't run any other kind of searches.

    Give me 'dem teeth

I shoot you with a Lee Enfield. 1 round trade, I get everything you have. Great currency system, I just ruined it for you. Even if you limit all the ammo in the game, this ability makes bullets not a currency. Sure, you can trade them, but most people would rather kill you and take what you have if it is so rare. EDIT: Also, pulling teeth is strange, but I could see it as a coming up for something to show your stats. Those snipers at Electro and Cherno ganking fresh spawns for their kill counter wouldn't be able to show their kills as they would never go down to collect the proof of the kill. Infact, due to this, you couldn't confirm a kill unless you have something to prove it to others if the debug menu was gone. Screenshot, witness or teeth. Funny thing to ask for but I wonder how it would work.

    Walk like a Zombie

This has been discussed before, please use the search option next time. Also, backpacks would give you away to players, so crouch walking or prone crawling is still better, without the extra second of laughter the first time you show friends. (Hint: Even with most players prone, I notice the backpacks first, they stick out more than you'd think.)
  4. Tell me where your base is and I'm sure I can get a few clans heading your direction to liberate that campsite, it's equipment and all those poor vehicles that haven't been driven. 7+ vehicles tells me you have nothing to do because you can't find something else to do. Sometimes, starting over is more of a relief than anything.
  5. I did not self diagnose, and I also know about that site, although I have never used it to get any information for anything. Thanks though. My life story is fairly long, and you know very little of it from three posts. If you think that information above is quite a lot, then you would be amazed by both my entire life story and those of others, if they are interested in sharing them. All my secrets remain that, and any information I don't want you nor anyone else to have is kept secret. If asked, I would have revealled that information above to anyone. You assumed I resigned due to emotional performance or issues, which was untrue. I shared a small portion of why I resigned. The things that happened there are bad, and numberous and easily something you can find by looking up CCA on google. I don't hesistate as your knowledge of me is extremely limited, and what little info I have given you isn't even enough to track me down, much less find out my name, (Hint: It isn't Alex). I don't mind talking to people, and most of my life is an open book, excluding 2009. If it helps, I have many people to talk to, and not just over the internet. I could walk into the next room and strike up a conversation with either my nephew, my friend or my dad, and within 15 I could visit any number of friends or family. I'm not lonely, but thanks for the concern. (And before you ask, I'm in another room as I'm looking for time by myself, I'm introverted, and being around people or crowds tends to drain me of all my energy). (I'm not insulting you, or being sarcastic. Prosidy, emotion and meaning is not shown well over the internet.) EDIT: And if you don't mind, I'd rather not continue this here. I came to the DayZ forum to discuss DayZ, not myself. I am open to private messages, if you wish to continue this now or in the future.
  6. This. People leaving the server during a fight are cowards, and using that ability either to dodge a defeat (logging off in combat) or to get a better position on people on said server are nothing less than cheaters. But 30 minutes is too much. 5 is good. That'd give you ten minutes as they'd have to wait 5 to connect to the new server and then another 5 after they move back and relog into yours, so you could get 15 or more minutes to prepare for the ambuse, and attempt one yourself due to this.
  7. 200km? Is that really 200 meters? Cause just about anyone can find something not well spread apart. If you mean all across 1 server, then you are doing it wrong. Did you even stream a video? Show a photo to someone? Put up a youtube vid that showed you coming from a certain location? Piss off a clan? Sometimes I just run out into the woods and look for places where I would hide a camp, and usually I find it. Infact, some people call me the "Mole". Not really due to my ability to past ability to spy on corporations in Eve, or find "hidden" campsites in DayZ, but for the large amount of underground tunnels in used to make in CastleZ and Minecraft. For a person without a compass, watch or even a map, my navigation skills are both incredible and odd. And I'm just one of few. Most clans have atleast 1 person that hunts for tents. That person was probably on your server recently. 6 hours is a great time, and a clan could easily find all three camps, note them and then come back in a full raiding task group and sweep through all of them in a few hours, using possible stolen vehicles from that server (from your own camp) hitting each place in just a short period of time. I've done it. I know others have done it as well. And sometimes, it isn't a random person from some unknown clan... But one of your own members.

    Fishing. food/supplies.

I'd rather get a rod, sit on a dock (which is very dangerous due to the open environment and the aggressive playerbase) and fish. Most attempts would be nothing, or you might catch a tin can. Rarely you'd catch a fish, which when cooked would act like 1 piece of meat. This would need to be balanced, so fishing would take roughly 1 minute (able to be cancelled incase of an attack) and the chances of catching a fish should be low, like 2.5%, tin cans and whiskey boots like 11% each and maybe some random junk thrown in to fill in the rest with a general 50% chance to get nothing. Maybe more for nothing. But the fish would still require a hatchet to get wood (or just the wood) and matches to light a fire to cook said fish. It wouldn't replace hunting due to the dangers of fishing. Also, instead of a low chance of catching fish, it could just be a lower chance each time after you catch a fish, reset after 30 minutes or so. That way you could quickly catch 1 fish, but take longer and longer to catch another unless you waited for awhile (so you don't scare off the fish?) Just my thoughts.
  9. I quit because my employers were not following their own protocols, and were openning themselves up to lawsuits. Imagine warning them for months that things were ill-maintained, and when stuff started to fall apart they'd tried to blame the officers. When they didn't fix broken electronics, or faulty wiring that led to fires. No, it was not due to my emotions getting the best of me, or my inability to deal with work related issues, it was due to my life being in more danger from mismanaged resources than the inmates I was watching. Would you risk your life for 13.72 an hour? To me that isn't worth getting sued, especially when a 200 pound metal bed falls off a wall and cripples an inmate and your company tries to blame YOU because you were on duty. I followed regulations to the letter, filled out the right paperwork and even had security cameras proving I did my job. I called in a spinal injury and the control room IGNORED me, and after two additional attempts they finally asked, "Do you need a wheelchair?". I'd rather no go into detail, as that place has been under investigation for years, and only now are they firing those responsible for the problems going on at that facility. My sister still works there only because she can't afford to find another job. And sociopaths don't need medicine for that alone. What would cause me to feel emotions towards people when I lack the ability to feel said emotions? It would be like you taking medicine to fly with your own arms. Impossible. I share my 'condition' on the forums so informed people know how my mind might work to some degree, and not make general assumptions of mental defect like, "OMG that dude crazy, he need to be on MEDS!" I don't care what people on the internet think of me. I don't meet people on the street and say, "Hi I'm Alex, I'm a sociopath." You don't know who I am on the internet, so I can reveal more than I usually do in real life. Your reaction is understandable, however. But thanks for serving in the military. Strangely enough, it wasn't my mental condition that stopped me from serving, but a heart condition (heart murmur) that the recruiter and a doctor decided was enough to deny me. I have many friends in both the army and navy, and I respect them for that among many other reasons. Back on topic, for one sentence, I sorta support German Shepards as pets. Rocket wants them ingame, I love them in real life. Win-Win. Although, I'm not so sure about pets ingame, I'd like to see german shepards. EDIT: Also, Sociopathy is defined differently from one source to another, and most sources perfer using, "Anti-Social Personality Disorder" which I disagree with. Being Anti-Social doesn't mean "Can only feel shallow emotions, does not feel sympathy or empathy" solely, so I am grouped up with bombers and anarchists. If anything, think of me as extremely apathic. That's the simplist way I can explain it.

    Skin Ideas

I'd love more skins ingame. I don't mind what they pick as long as they add a few more. Also, ghillie suits need to no longer hide backpacks. Either you get the storage of the pack, complete with the easy-to-see pack, or you don't. And where do people get these ghillie suit numbers? Most of the people I've talked to use them nearly naked underneath (with arm/knee pads).

    Poison

That movie taught me that submachine guns only need to be reloaded once per thousand rounds, that shotguns are super weapons, that heads with grenades destroy buildings and that an exploding truck can take out a whole multistory building. As well as small asian men can handle about 20 rounds to the body, then hold a short conversation with someone on a phone and instantly die a short time later. Oh, and 9mm pistols use 3 rounds before their magazine is empty. Yeah... If I played in this game like those people 'survived' I'd be dead every 5 minutes.
  12. This. +100 Realistic Recoil is different from person to person. I can fire a 12 gauge without issue. My nephew is my height and bodyweight and has issues firing a .45 pistol... My neighbor loves his .308 rifle and is 5 foot tall. Managable recoil is personal perference to some degree and if you want a fight that isn't from one side of a valley to another then go to a town. Don't want crosshairs or 3rd person cameras? Change server. Dislike tags? Change server. Don't like the weapon damage? Well guess what. The only guns that kill with one body shot are .50 rifles and the Lee Enfield. That's 3 guns total. The rest are about 8k blood per round or less (even the AKM is less than 5k, and 5.56 or 5.45 rounds are under 4k). So yeah. Have fun.
  13. Zeromentor

    Enviormental Suggestions.

Actually a harsher environment could be cool. Snow would provide both extra cover for those in the correct camo, and a problem for those not (ghillie suits in the open). As well as a problem for anyone out in the cold for too long. Heatpacks would have a better place in the game, as well as campfires and cars (heaters inside). It could also be cool if the heat ingame functioned as a stamina decreaser at the very least, slowing people down faster from the heat. I don't know if the game's engine supports this, but I do.
  14. As a sociopath I know my actions have consquences, and thus have no issues with following the law. That is more due to the knowledge that if I commit a crime, the police with probably catch me and place me in a jail or prison (according to the crime I commit) which is a place I do not want to be. If you think I was being sarcastic, or that I lied, I do not care. You are a stranger on the internet, filled with people, whom I have no reason to express lies towards. I don't care if you dislike me, or idolize me. Sociopathy is not a 'condition'. I was born with it. A more proper name is Anti-Social Personality Disorder, and my case is severe. I lack sympathy towards others and do not feel empathy. That means your pain is yours alone, and if nothing else might interest me due to the nature of the pain. I could care less about your safety or life unless I have a reason to (being paid). I have taken psychology, sociology and criminology classes, as well as serving as a correctional officer for CCA for a short time before I resigned due to workplace hazards and general violations of protocol that left me not wanting to get sued or worse. So if the federal backgrounds checks didn't find anything (I don't even have a speeding ticket to my name) you shouldn't be worried. But keep in mind, I care very little for my 'fellow man'. Your life means nothing to me, and your emotions, thoughts and life experiences don't mean a thing to me outside of the information I could glean from them. If pushed, I would probably be more likely to kill you than any other random stranger, as like I said, "Your life means nothing to me". But don't fret, I'm no threat to the community. Sociopath does not mean Serial Killer. EDIT: To conclude, if I have no issue with killing people in real life if there were no laws against it, why should my ingame avatar have such a problem? This isn't a roleplaying game, after all.

    bow and arrows

No, but neither is DayZ. A bow is a dumb idea. Even a crossbow is an extreme, and the bolt problem has it's own threads. I'm just going to mention that it doesn't take a genius to reload a gun, load a round into the chamber and fire (safety on, off, if the weapon has one). Even a moron can hit the target of a person at around 100 meters. That same person can't aim a bow, much less build it. Infact, most people can use a bow effectively outside of 35 yards, which is easily in the range of a pistol. And a rifle can hit you from 300 meters with ease. Have you ever tried to build a bow? A piece of wood and a string does not make a bow. And with the whole, "It is silent" sure. But so is a crossbow, and that can be more accurate with much better accuracy at longer ranges. Could a modern compound bow like those found in Walmart be ingame? Sure, but it would act just like a crossbow. So no support from me.
  16. LOLZ People wouldn't try to steal the car. The first fresh spawn with a gun would pump that car full of holes once they found the door locked. I would. They'd maybe throw a grenade at it, perhaps pelt it with tin cans if they didn't have a gun. At the worst, they'd use it to lure newbies and claim a few kills because someone blasted it's engine with a Lee Enfield, or took out the tires.

    Survival Timer

Yeah, bottom of your screen when you log in, at the right I think. Chernarus Your Spawn Location Days spent alive. Most I ever got was 19, then a botched camp raid ended that.
  18. I'm going to ignore the rest of the OP and focus on one piece. Sanity. I'm an introverted Sociopath (oddity, I know) and I dislike crowds and people, and don't care for anyone I do not see as a friend (takes a long time for me to build relationships). I don't need companionship to stay sane (I don't talk to myself or laugh for no reason, hear voices or see things that aren't there if I have no contact with people for over a week). Being forced to use such a system, even with such an easy way to get around it with pets, is a weakness I don't want to have. If I don't have it in real life, why should a character I play be forced to have it? Some people don't go crazy just because they killed someone. I know people see this extreme in movies all the time, but if it happened to everyone just because they killed a guy then there would be no war because all the soldiers would snap and flee the frontlines as soon as the first body hit the ground. Stop thinking this way. Not everyone needs constant human interaction to stay sane. Not everyone needs to have a pet to stay sane if they don't talk to humans. And I wouldn't ever kill myself, so why would my character??? No. Unless I'm playing a roleplaying game as an extroverted attention seeker in the maws of madness in the zombie apocalypse of Chernarus, I don't want a freaking sanity meter. I don't like the idea of pets. I don't like the idea of bulls, wild mountain lions or coyotes. I'm not sure what animals are native to this land called Chernarus, but I'm sure wild dogs might be the most of it. Maybe bears, but they won't be that aggressive. Baiting animals might seem fun, but in a game where your character can starve to death so quickly, hunting for hours trying to find truffles without a boar, and then setting them up in the hopes that one random one might come by would lead to your eventual death by starvation, or forcing you to head to a nearby city to loot food or kill players for said food. So no.
  19. Server hopping is an exploit, and that doesn't do much to negate the fact that NVGs are extremely rare. That'd be like arguing that all guns should insta-kill if the bullet hits you anywhere at any distance and should be homing because people can ALT+F4 and disconnect before lower-damage guns can kill them. Stupid argument is stupid. Instead, hope the devs are working to fix this. And remember, server-hopping comes with other dangers, like spawning on someone in the same building, or into the awaiting arms of a server-hopper camper (The kind of people that wait for server hopper's and thier gear, intending to kill them for the potential loot without doing the work themselves).
  20. I have seen 3 NVGs in this game. 2 were on what I think was a duper, and 1 was on a clanmember of a bus I fired on. The first one disappeared when I hid the body so the rest of the clan couldn't reclaim the loser's gear, and other 2 disappeared with the rest of the duper's gear when I switched servers. Outside of that, I have been killed by 2 people who might have had NVGs. And I play a lot of night servers (I don't leave just because it is dark). I assume that because the first one killed me without moonlight, and so the surrounding area was pitch black, and he used only two rounds. The second killed me just after I hid his mate's body, 1 round to my face in the middle of the night when I was getting up from behind a downed tree. Neither times did either shooter have the ability to trace me via movement, lights or muzzle flash. So yeah, that's in over 1 month of play. I don't know why so many people think everyone on night servers have NVGs. They are freaking rare, extremely so, outside of dupers and duping clans, and the chances of running into one of those on over 1300 servers is rarer than anyone thinks. The only things I've seen less of than NVGs are SVDs with camo and L85s with Thermal. I've seen tons of SVD magazines, and even know the location of some random guys camp with 7 in his tent. (BTW random guy, thanks for the FN Fal! I left you 10 bandages)

    Silenced Sniper Rifles

Overwatch should not have issues with zombies. If you need a silenced weapon for under 400 meters, use either the M4 SD, any silenced pistol, or SD Stanag mags in M16s or M4s. MP5SD also works, but I wouldn't suggest it with the limited damage per round. If you are aggroing zombies with any long-range scoped high-powered weapons, you need to reposition yourself, or hand the rifle off to someone that can use it properly.
  22. Zeromentor

    Weapon cleaning, maintenance.

Sure, in real life many shooters clean their weapons, but the amount of rounds between each cleaning is very different. Some fire off only a hundred rounds, others fire 400. Even for guns like the M16, people generally either clean it every single time they get done firing at a range (so 200 or so rounds) or after a certain amount. And even that is usually preventive maintenance, not full cleaning. How many times have you fired 200 rounds in a gun before you died? Personally, I have never gone through even 5 magazines in a gun before I either switch it out or die. And that is at most 150 rounds. I doubt they'd be rusted piles of crap by then. Sure the idea to maintain your weapons ingame makes sense, but outside of clans keeping their weapons for weeks, running on raids and recollecting them if someone dies, most players won't fire 500 rounds before they die, much less 500 rounds through one gun. So it would be rather pointless to code all that in to this game, if it isn't in the engine already. I wouldn't mind all that much unless it is something unrealistic, like being forced to clean my M1911 after every few zombies or else I get stove-piped every other bullet, then such an addition would make me furious.
  23. Zeromentor

    Forcing surrender

Yeah, sometimes I would rather have the option to force someone to the ground instead of having to waste a few rounds (and giving out my location) to kill a person and find they don't have anything I want. I'd perfer a ranged stungun, like police issue, or tranquilizers for the CZ550. Perhaps rubber slugs for shotguns (excluding the double barrel and 1866) as well. An animation is far too buggy to be used with any amount of safety, as the player could easily swipe out a weapon and put holes in you before the server shows you he is turning around. EDIT: And a forced surrender button would be abused, as players would camp towns and capture fresh spawns and keep them enslaved, and I'm not even going to mention the ALT+F4 problems are already ingame and how this would happen as a result of a surrender.
  24. I always called it "Day 'Z'" as the Z sticks out. That, and I'm american. But I grew up as part of the computer generation, so my accent is totally different from the people in my family and widely different from th rest of the people in Florida. But with the pronouncing "Z" as "Zed", is that Zed like Ed, with a Z. Or Zed like Heed? I'm assuming Zed like Ed, as it makes some sense to me, but I don't recall ever hearing any british person pronounce Z's with an ending 'ed'. Of course, I miss a lot of that, as the words enter my ears and then I see the spelling in my mind, so words like aluminium put up as the same, even though two groups pronounce them in completely different ways.

    Why Day-Z Fails

"But after about 24 hours of game play" I stopped reading here. This mod, and probably the game, is not for you. Move along. If you haven't had fun in the first 24 hours, you aren't ever likely to have fun. EDIT: Over 1 month of play, averaging that down to say 25 days at 6 hours a piece, that's well over 150 hours. I'd have to say I love this mod, and I can overlook the bugs and general glitchiness due to both the engine not really supporting a mod like this and it being in Alpha. Still great to me. Don't like the mod? Find a different game.
