Pros take cover and usually run from one bit of cover to another, so as not to expose themselves too much. Running in the open is a great way to die. Although, I get called a "Camper" when I do this in COD games. I love it. Anyhow, I think zombies' speed should be toned down, but still a little faster than survivors so they can catch up. But their extreme speed is one of the things that causes their odd running paths. But to balance it out, I also think the zombies should have a little more health.

Last time I checked we didn't have .357 revolvers ingame. Anyhow, I could see chalk rounds, but it's not really something that should be in DayZ. If you need to train your fellow groupies, it is probably best to find another approach to it.

I carry around 3-4 canteens at a time, and it gives me the ability to pretty much go anywhere without ever having to stop to kill a zombie or visit a town. No, giving them more than one use would really make having anything else even more pointless. Why carry a ton of soda that you have to replace each time you use them? A canteen can be refilled at almost any water source. And meat is easily hunted, so yeah. No, I can't really say I'm into the idea of multiple-use canteens.

I LIKE TRAINS!!! But I don't support this suggestion.
-
No. Bandits would still kill you, and when you fight back you'd either get killed or get a murder and then be a bandit yourself. Ignoring this, no punishment system for bandits, stop asking for it. Also, Search Function, top of the forums, use it next time.

There's too much wind in Chernarus...and it's not just the Beans.
Zeromentor replied to Blackadder (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Too much wind? What? If the sound is bothering you, try turning it down. I'm not even going to get into winds, coastlines and mountains. -
A short friendly encounter followed by a bandit encounter @ Balota Airfield
Zeromentor replied to A.Jones's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
AS50 out of your backpack? Where the heck did you find that? Anyhow, I'm not 100% as I only watched the video once, but either you got jumped by 2 people (you should have checked the tower afterwards for your friendly stranger) but I think that last guy was infact the guy you got done speaking to. I'm probably wrong. Nice kills. -
OP hates Combat Loggers and Hackers.

Where do you find the huge Coyote pack?
Zeromentor replied to Justice357's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah, if you want to work for it keep searching. If you don't, find a location server hoppers tend to jump around in. Low population servers (sometimes high, not a huge difference) and near Air Traffic Control towers, Barracks and other buildings. For example, Balota Airfield. Just behind the fence near the ATC is a bunch of trees. Use them as cover, position yourself where you can see the stairs. If you are unlucky, hours will go by without a single player coming around. But I once set up there and killed 6 people that spawned in. 2 escaped death by disconnecting, and 1 ran off (that 1 was the only one that didn't log in inside the ATC). Easy loot. You can also hunt snipers around cherno and electro once you find their favorite sniping spots and hide in an area overlooking them. Sniper hill on high pop serves (the largest hill north-east of Electro) is a favorite. Hide near the top, a little behind the slope and wait for shooting, then go hunting. -
Seriously, OP, good luck with that. More medics are killed on sight for the potental loot, or the increase to kill count. Your actions will be viewed favorably by people ingame, and go ahead and ignore the people that think you are stupid or crazy. Sandbox mod and all that, you can play how you want.

Jet refers to the Jet Engine. (Sometimes the propulsion method: Jet Stream) Examples include Ramjets, Scramjets. http://en.wikipedia....wiki/Jet_engine for the basics. Propellers are not jet engines. They are different engines. People tend to call aircraft with Turboprops, "Jets". They are not. -
Yeah, the whole ALT+F4 thing is going nuts. The amount of people doing it to save their character, even fresh spawns, is crazy. But the hackers aren't more of a problem than they normally are on most computer games. There will always be hackers, and even if you get the best defense the only ones you can stop are the script kiddies that buy their hacks from the pros. Good Hackers aren't stopped. Give them a system, and they'll find a backdoor. That's a promise. It might take time, but nothing is hack proof as software is designed to SERVE humans, and hackers are humans. Even protection and security systems are designed to serve people, and so they are prone to being hacked. But yeah, it sucks. I can't wait for them to punish ALT+F4 with whatever system they come up with. Insta-killing ALT-F4ers, delayed timers, spawning people in with zombies on them just for them to disconnect and log in to find more zombies, loads of things they can do. I can't wait. Too bad the Arma2 engine doesn't support log-out timers.

Zeromentor replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Have you ever tried to fix a car, or build a computer with these kinds of people? Outside of doing it yourself, it is impossible. The problem is you don't understand them at first, because they don't know what they are talking about. They shorten the full name, but it makes it HARDER, not easier, to understand them. In some areas, this worked, (.308 versus 7.62x51mm), but in others this leaves people trying to translate a conversation when the two speakers share the same language. -

I can call it whatever I want, but when you try to tell people that you have an M101, or a 70, or a M10 or an M19 they'll think you are insane as no such weapons exist ingame. M1014, 870 Shotgun, M107, M1911. It annoys me to no end to hear people talk about a gun and only call it "This machinegun". When you question them about their gun, it turns out they are using an M16 or PDW... Or my favorite, the AK-47 users, who can't tell it is an AK74. The rounds aren't even the same. They are different guns!! Anything armored is a tank, anything in the air is a jet, even with propellers, and magazines being clips. Even worse, I finally fixed my neighbor with that, but now he calls clips- mags. I own an M1 Garand from Post-Korean War, so it helped showing him the difference. -
1. Search Bar at the top of forums. 2. Search for why it was removed, and why it will remain gone until developers decide for something better, or different. 3. Don't approach people or large towns unless you want to die. For getting a gun you have 3 choices. A). You can try to loot a major coastal city, but with the cost of increased amounts of aggressive players shooting you. B). You can try to loot a small town or airfield, the chances of running into people is lower, but you also have less chances to get loot such as food, tools or medical supplies. C). Go north knock up a deer stand and hope for a weapon. But as you are new to the game, good luck finding one. Also, limited spawns means you won't find what you need so survive solo.

Just like this guy, I could have been onboard with this idea (with tweaking) until this point. No, I don't support this suggestion. But atleast someone is thinking outside the box when they try to ask for a system to punish banditry, the OP is even asking for something that makes some sense (you get stressed out from firefights, so I think stress from firing higher caliber weapons as well as taking return fire would be cool. Think a suppression system, but where your aim is affected by not only incoming rounds, but constant firing from your part). But this sounds a lot like a sanity meter with a different name.

Surviving is more about luck than skill. Many times one of my friends took a round and died, only for me to be spared. Or like one time, a friend logged into a server with one person on it. 2 minutes later, he rounded a corner at an industrial park at the coast and found the only guy on the server and promptly killed him. Luck. Sometimes it is good, sometimes bad. I had a player miss me with an M203, but the sound sent me running. He, or a friend of his, started to fire .50 rounds at me and missed every shot. I could have taken 1 round and died, but instead that player wasted 20 rounds and never touched me. My longest life was 19 days, and I died from a newbie in my group making a mistake and firing at a larger, unknown and wellprepared group after I told him countless times NOT TO FIRE. He gave away our position and we were flanked. I died. But about benefits for surviving? I could support something like that. But does it make sense? I can't walk more quietly just because I lived a few extra days. I can't steady a gun better just because I've been alive longer. That comes from getting used to the weapon, it's recoil and wieght and what to expect from it. A guy who is used to using Shotguns and hatchets won't instantly be better with .50 rifles and LMG/MMGs just because he breathed oxygen longer than me. So an idea like this would need to be expanded on, but I do like where the idea can head. Also, the improvements would need to be small, nothing like 50% better for being alive for a week.

Consequences of player killing - a new direction!
Zeromentor replied to heretic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You obviously have no background in psychology, and have probably never even taken a class, much less read a book. Who says all murders are for fun? Self Defense isn't for fun. Preemptive murder isn't for fun. Killing someone because you are starving to death, and you think they might have food, isn't for fun. But shooting at someone doesn't mean that you are crazy, and thinking that shows limited logic skills and a poor rationale belief system. I've seen players run into incoming fire not just in this game, but others. Including games where they punish these kinds of fools (like Battlefield 3). People are stupid, you can't hold their hand and expect it to change, they will stay stupid and never learn. If you give them an unforgiving system, they will either adapt, or come to the forums and bitch about what they see as problems, and try to force their own ideas upon a community that does not want said ideas to be implemented. Oh, and watch documentaries, or view photos of people in third world countries fighting each other. They are untrained, uneducated and tend to do the same thing you see people do ingame. Full auto at range, missing and wasting multiple rounds, killing for what others view as a stupid reason, never take proper cover and can't follow the simplist instructions for group play. I'm not saying that those ingame are third world, and uneducated, but I am saying people do the same damn thing over and over again, and trying to change them just causes them to find other methods for doing something stupid. And I don't think Rocket wants to babysit people, so a sanity meter won't be added as a punishment for bandits. Oh, and if anyone was to kill someone for fun it would be a Psychopath. Not a schizophrenic. And many sources don't like to use "Psychopath" as an official term, but I'd suggest educating yourself in any case. -
I would imagine that such an action in this once it becomes a stand-alone game would lead to it being banned in many countries. Sure, I like the idea of suiciding instead of just hitting respawn 20 times (plus, they can't respawn 20 times if they don't have a gun, and they'll have to find a zombie to get themselves killed to respawn) but adding this would probably limit what countries, and what players, could play this once it becomes a full game. Think of the aussies, their government bans games for what others see as minor things, like cannibalism.

Consequences of player killing - a new direction!
Zeromentor replied to heretic (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I do not support this. People don't turn into schizophrenics or show mild signs of PTSD and sleep deprivation just because they killed someone. OP might as well have just said, "I want sanity meters!" because that is what he is asking for, without the meter. No support from me, I hate the idea of sanity in this mod. Doesn't fit well into the core gameplay. If Rocket decides he wants it, fine, but this is my opinion. -

I don't like the idea of moving deer stands, because deer stands like that don't move. I would, on the otherhand, support changing what type of weapons spawn in the deer stands. I think any around cities, towns or the middle of the woods should pack barn/residental loot. Double-Barrel shotguns, Lee Enfields, and the like. Deer stands near military bases (airfields) or tents (Stary, Berenzino, etc) should retain the loot now. You could easily change Deerstand to DeerstandA and DeerstandB and change the loot drops without messing with the textures or location. I know coding would be more difficult than that, but you get the idea.

"I can't see a dam thing" *walks into a wall
Zeromentor replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Forgot to mention: G17, M4A3 both have flashlights, as well as the 870 shotgun. Chemlights light up the ground out to about 10 feet (3 meters) depending on the color, and they don't give away your position after around 50 meters. Last thing, few people actually have NVGs, Usually they are owned by clans and server hopping looters. The first group stay in the woods and protect camps while looting military tents or the NWAF. The latter are either found running in either barracks at the NWAF, or camping a hill near Cherno or Electro. Stay safe out there. EDIT: Try jogging and using both a pistol and flashlight. Your chances of hitting a stationary target are low, and good luck hitting something that is moving, or taking sporadic cover. -

It's not the setup of the server, it's the freaking moon on it. Moonlight in this game is far different than real life, but a full moon will light up the night (making it seem pre-sunrise morning) and with no moon it is pitch black, one shade of color, complete darkness. Starlight doesn't matter to this game, it doesn't provide light, just an overhead bunch of white dots. Have fun, next time use the search feature on the forums. Thanks. -
This mod is based more on realism than 'fun'. Although that guy went about it the wrong way, he is pretty much saying that you shouldn't suggest something should be added just because you like the idea of blasting zombies with it. Also, good luck hitting anything with a .45 on full auto.
