Although I like the idea of the body armor functioning on military zombies, I think your ideas either go a bit too far, or you do not know all the caliber rounds ingame. 5.45x39mm That's the AK74 and the variants used cartridge size. Did you factor that in? Anyhow, armored zombies, albeit not to the degree you suggest, would be cool. But I have advocated in the past for an upgrade in zombie health.

Oh dear god. If you don't want to fire, don't click whatever buttons you have set for firing. IE; Don't hit the left mouse button. Like in real life, you don't always have to safety the gun because you stopped shooting. Take the finger off the trigger. Don't rest it on the trigger. Teach this to people you play with. I've been shot in the butt ingame because people didn't know this. Taking a .45 to the butt is no fun.

You. Are. An. Idiot. I'm not usually so blunt, but the fact is that most, "Bandits" use scoped rifles, which still go for 8,000 blood per round. Chance to fight back? Common weapons do LESS damage now. That means that before if they missed and you returned fire, you only needed about 4 rounds to kill the attacker. Now? 2 from the Lee, 9 from the .45 ACPs, many more from 9mm weapons. Even the AK74 variants take extra rounds, as well as shotguns!! You have LESS of a chance to fight back, as those extra rounds take time to place, where that sniper only needs 1 more to kill you. Your logic is shit. Next time, try using the grey matter lying dormant in that empty teapot you call a skull.

And yet I see it as a balance. The vets can have the .50 cal with a scope and 1-hit people, and newer people get the Lee Enfield. Less range, same potential for killing. Think of it as the ultimate balance in a game without any. Oh, and the weapon nerf needs to go. But we have to see what will happen. I for one want it to either complete the cycle and down the .308's damage, and we can have less blood for a readjustment. Or they should revert it. I can only wonder what those on ArmA2 are thinking about this.

Okay, so many people have noticed the new changes in weapon damage in the Beta Patchs for ArmA2. As many know, this makes many weapons in DayZ now either useless, or a big disappointment compared to what they used to be. A chart, whether accurate or not, can be found here: http://dayzdb.com/database/weapon-comparison Now, due to the massive nerf of the Lee Enfield, .45 ACP and 9mm rounds, I think players need a max blood decrease. Why? Because they were originally built on higher damage numbers. And now those numbers have changed. As it is, .308 (7.62x51mm NATO) rounds still do 8k damage- unchanged, and 5.56 go for slightly over 3k- unchanged. But the Lee has been cut by roughly 50%, and .45 ACP have taken a massive hit. 9mm rounds also need a little more to kill a player (from around 9 to nearly 13). So I think player's blood needs to be tuned from 12,000 to 8500 (or 9,000, to round it out). The reason for that is .308 rounds tend to kill players with 1-shot, either from headshots, upper chest or causing the player to bleed to death. Sometimes it takes 2, but not often. With this change, it still usually takes 1 round. Just remember the Lee used to kill in 1 round, and now it takes 2. People can't even bleed to death unless they are missing bandages. Even the poor .45 ACP sidearms don't even have enough rounds to kill a player. How someone can take seven .45s to the chest and live is still amazing to me.

I'll take it as a loot drop, like the Camo and Ghillie. I don't care for the "Kill=Bandit Skin" crap.

I just spotted a Mister Lee Enfield at the Coroners Office...
Zeromentor replied to ratfever's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The Lee has been cursed. The only way to fix it is to pray to the almightly gods of... I got nothing... Totally sucks that my second favorite gun was so heavily nerfed. And even then, smaller rounds with less gunpowder are doing MORE damage at the same range. What? Yep. .308 versus .303. .303 is heavier, bigger and packs more power. Yet somehow, it only does over 6k. The .308 is smaller, less power... And 8k damage. But hey, the .45 ACP now does like 1/3rd of the 5.56 NATO. Yeah, that's at point-blank. Anyone here actually fire a .45 and a 5.56 or .223? Yeah, massive difference. -
Removal of "zoom"? [in standalone?]
Zeromentor replied to bluerising's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Remove zoom? No. I'm not even sure if the OP was sober when he typed his post, or if this is an experiment in sarcasm. -
Friendlies in Day Z .... never seen one

I always have need for a third or fourth compass. And extra pairs of patrol packs. -
Transparency in the environmentt?
Zeromentor replied to Rodante's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is true, and easy to see with trees and bushes (parts disappear when you hide in or next to them). But on youtube vids I have seen people walk into a house and the chairs were see-through, as well as tables, boxes and sometimes segments of the floor. I can only assume it is a card-related issue. -
Friendlies in Day Z .... never seen one
Zeromentor replied to v3c1c's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, I'm friendly as long as you don't hold a gun, or stare at me... Or have a compass. I kill for those. -
Transparency in the environmentt?
Zeromentor replied to Rodante's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would think it is a bug with one of your graphic card's settings, or not supporting or being supported by the game. But the guy above me said it was a hacker. Chances are, though, he was being sarcastic. I'd say check out similar objects on other servers, and if they continue to be see-through, try changing your settings until it fixes itself, or look up a fix for it on the internet. Happy hunting. -
If Rocket Didn't Push Out The Patch, Surely There's Some Way He Can Un-nerf/Reason With The Devs.
Zeromentor replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Most of my hostile player encounters are at ranges at or over 300 meters. Most of the time I, the players I run with, and the players I am fighting do NOT have scopes. Have you even tried to hit a target in the head that size at that distance that is MOVING with iron sights? No, I didn't think so. You shoot zombies before you aggro them, or when you get them to walk inside. I know this, because I have experience fighting players ingame. Zombies are a joke. In the time it takes for you to line up a shot with iron sights on my head at ranges exceeding 300 meters, I'll pump 5+ rounds into your midsection with my AKM. -
I think, "[...] was killed." adds a sense of the unknown. You know someone died, but you don't know how. Sometimes I hear gunfire and then see, "KittyLover123 was killed" and wonder if that person died to the gunfire, or was the one firing. Then I find their dead body at the back of a building, with zombies on the roof and realize that their death wasn't that grand...
-
Yeah, furthest I've seen was 1.2km, that was it. I have my view distance at just over 3500, and I wonder if it is worth it... Most servers I play on, everything disappears into a thin fog at 1km, and on some servers I can't even see zombies past 875 meters. I usually throw it around as just being fog, but thinking back I've never seen further. Does increasing it to 6k+ increase the view range past that 1km limit or is it really all server side?

Change in Blood Levels, due to new Beta Patch.
Zeromentor replied to Zeromentor's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions

If Rocket Didn't Push Out The Patch, Surely There's Some Way He Can Un-nerf/Reason With The Devs.
Zeromentor replied to Chewbacca Jesus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The new weapon damage makes very little sense for DayZ, and I hope the ArmA2 devs revert the change, or change all the weapons to suit so Rocket can change our blood levels to compensate. As it it, three .45 rounds to the chest is going to kill an unarmored person. Ingame, it now takes 9-10. If you shot someone with that many .45s you are now staring at a mess, as that is a definition of overkill. Also, the nerf to AK-74s and variants were unneeded. As well as the nerf to the Lee Enfield. How that round now does LESS damage than a .308 at the same ranges is confusing. Hit someone close range, and you might as well send Superman to punch them, full strength, in the gut. But ingame, they bandage and run away... Also, this patch made the pathetic MP5 even more worthless. Seriously, 889 damage per round? WTF? Please Rocket, try to get the ArmA2 devs to revert or finish the changes. I can take less blood with less damage, but the changes the way they are make little sense. Just look at the .45 ACP compared to 5.56 NATO. Look at it. LOOK AT IT!! -
So my friend died, respawned in electro and decided to meet up with me to reclaim what little I could collect from his dead body at the NWAF. A long, boring run later, I hit Balota Airfield, or atleast I stopped just 800 meters from it. I sit around, watching zombies and fresh spawns tackle each other on the strip and generally listen to the .50cal snipers trying very poorly to claim a kill from them. After a few minutes, the gunfire lets up, and my friend tells me he is nearby with a double barrel shotgun and is coming to me. We'll call him Araon. So Araon makes his way across a large open field and heads to me, against my wishes (note the snipers I mentioned). But luckily for him, nothing was thrown his way, and he made it to me unharmed. As he dug around in my backpack, looking for his M4A1 CCO, I hear an odd noise. I look up and scan the area, "What the f*** is that?" I ask into my mic, before noticing the answer was less than a second away. On the road was a bus, with a motorcycle escort. "Holy s***, a bus!" I screamed, bringing my AKM to my face and putting out 30 rounds in semi-auto, hitting the bus more than a few times. My buddy scattered into the tree line, in a mix of confusion and adrenaline. He didn't fire, but instead headed for the road to see if the bus had stopped. It did not. He regrouped, scanned the area quickly, with little regard towards our lives, and when I noticed the noise was heading away I decided to give chase. First we ran through the trees, looking for any hint that the mobile goldmine might have stopped, but when we were met with little more than zombies I decided to quickly head back up into the trees and head for the next town. The journey was quick, and full of me cursing my inability to hit the bus's wheels. As we hit Kamenka, I noted from the hill that there were zombies moving around. And then I spotted the roof of the bus, roughly 600 meters away. I raised my rifle, reported the position to my comrade, and proceeded to fire off another 26-28 rounds from my AKM. The bus disappeared out of sight, signalling that I once again had missed my prey. But stuborn as I was, I raced down the hill in an attempt to corner those fleeing. We swept around and checked a nearby road to make sure the bus hadn't fled the coast, and when we spotted zero zombies by a nearby building, I knew they were still nearby. I was a bit angry, as I no longer heard the noise of the bus, and told Araon that any loss of the bus would be his fault. (He never fired on it). At that point we heard gunfire, but was unable to pin down the location. We couldn't tell if the owners of the bus were firing at us, or taking fire from someone else, either way, we'd find out soon enough. We ran through the woods a short distance and found a small clearing, and stopped to give Araon a blood transfusion. "If they get away, I blame you." I said with a slight frown. Once the transfusion was done, I looked around, trying to see if I could spot the bus in the distance. I could not. I was almost done when I spotted a hint of white along the road, near a pack of trees. I pulled out my binocs and seen a pleasurable sight. The bus roof was shining through the spaces between the trees. I ordered Araon to get ready as we moved to the trees, and ordered him to both stand his ground and fire on any targets that he seen. Once he seemed to understand that, I gave one last order, "If you need to reload, do it from behind the trees." He had a bad habit of standing in front of his targets, I hoped he'd listen this time. His death at the NWAF had come from sitting in the open, taking another player's M4 to his face. So we hit the road, spotting the parked bus and the nearby motorcycle. Without even needing to look around, I seen a man by the name of Mark standing near the bus. He hadn't seen us, and this would be his downfall. "Middle of the road, take him out." I fired 3 rounds from my AKM, then scanned the area for other targets as my comrade openned up with his M4A1. No additional targets were spotted, and when I noticed Mark twitching on the ground I pumped 2 more rounds into him, ending his life. I ducked into the tree line, hitting the other side. I expected to see any number of hidden targets, and instead I see Araon run infront of me. I nearly placed half a mag into his butt, when he reported his location. Then I spot something out in the corner of my screen. "Friendly Medic, does anyone need assistance?" Are you kidding me? I turn to see a person with MEDIC clearly visible in the middle of their name, freaking standing in the road looking directly at me. Without a gun, I judged the target to not be a threat, though he could easily be sending information to whomever might still remain. But as I swept my gun around I noticed the nearby zombies were frozen in place. I switched back to the medic and told him, "Combat zone, please leave" and watched him haul tail away, taking no time to look back. My buddy asked why we couldn't shoot him, but I repeated what I had said many, many times before, "No gun, no target." Meaning in my own special way, that a person without a gun is not a threat in the present tense, and wasting ammunition on them could give away your position. We checked the surrounding area, and found nothing more than the Bus, a Motorcycle, and the body of Mark, as well as a rabbit stuck in a tree, and a zombie stuck in place, crawling near a downed tree (pine, looked like it had been taken out with explosives, or maybe the bus rammed it?). But the things we found on the body were a little disheartening for Araon. We found Mark was carrying nearly no weapons (a PDW with almost no ammunition), but held a coyote backpack filled with medical supplies. As I hadn't seen the medic even get near the corpse, I assumed that this wasn't a clan, or small group of ill-prepared bus owners, but that we had just hit a Medic Escort... Today we took home a bus, which only had engine damage... Well, until Araon decided to try to blow out the tires and hit the fuel tank, which burned it to a husk. And a motorcycle, which is now abandoned at a poorly hidden camp. We claimed a coyote backpack and a ton of medical supplies. But I have to ask, did I kill a medic's guard, or did I kill some random defender of a bus, and a medic happened by? Server was US1180. Happened today, in the evening. Sure, not the best story, but whatever. Outside of stealing vehicles from camps and killing random people in the woods, my days are pretty boring.

Every time I've found one, ignoring on dead players, was the tents at Berenzino. M4A1s I mean. I have only found two M4A3s. 1 at the NWAF, the other was taken off a player that missed his one and only shot at me. His brief second of life was ended with a CZ550 round to the head at 600 meters. Due to it spawning in the tents at Berenzino, I can only assume that it potentially spawns in Deer Stands (good luck with finding a gun, much less the one you are looking for) and Stary's tents (good luck with the sniper dodging).

I always liked having more skins. That, and Medics always scare the crap out of me. They appear when I least expect them with the same freaking question, "Do you require medical assistance?" Freaking reminds me of the Terran Medic from Starcraft. But I think it should be a random spawn skin, like Camo suits. I also think there should be more skins of other kinds as well. Personally, I understand that people can pretend to be goody-goodies with medic suits, but they are also bigger targets, and bigger threats when you are trying to kill a squad supported by a medic.

Zombies are coming, I'm going to put on an empty backpack and leave the house!
Zeromentor replied to nsix's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I just pretend that my character left home because they ran out of food and water, and the lack of weapons comes from a fight the night before with the infected. Without a real backstory, I can make it up as I go along... -
Yeah, the iron sights for the M16/M203 are horrible. When I first got it, I was so happy. Then I realized the M203 sights were always up... I wouldn't mind being able to switched between them, pushing the M203 sights down when they aren't needed.
-
Should only take 3 or 4, depending on where you hit and at what range. So my money is on lag. He, you or the server could have had any kind of connection error. As you said he then, "Just Shotgunned" you after all that, so you probably just appeared and never fired for him. Or he could have hacked in Godmode, but the chances of that are pretty low. But yeah, usually put out 3 rounds, check the target. If he is still moving, 3 more. Continue this until he stops moving.

Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]
Zeromentor replied to Dawn (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I loathe the winchester. It is one of the three guns I will not use if I have even a hatchet. 1. Double Barrel Shotgun. 2. Makarov. 3. Winchester. Between the poor damage, bad rate of fire, or poor accuracy, these guns are next to useless for me. Atleast with a hatchet, I can act a fool or pretend to be a ninja. -
Sorry, I don't care if people can't read short stories. Next time, I'll make sure it is in chapters and has a hard cover.
