This is the part that worries me, "I start walking towards him". When pistols do so little damage that two people can clash like a page from Clash of the Titans and take time to RELOAD to finish killing each other, you know realism is gone. But good work OP. Many of us have had this happen, and many times you'll see it happen again.

Probally shouldn't have removed respawn
Zeromentor replied to Shroom9191's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I had this happen, you have to swim back to shore. They teleport you off into the ocean, but not outside the map, so you are forced to either swim back or wait for death. Totally sucks. -
Banning happens AFTER they do the deed. Like in real life, there will be a victim when the law catches on that there was a crime. As Lennsik said, best to keep in secret until the day of, then schedule it with only a select few (few being a subjective word).

Last few times I seen people try this using the forums it was an epic failure as hackers raided the server each and every time. Whether because it was a nearly full server (script-kiddies like attention) or due to it being broadcasted on the forums, they usually end up with a lot of dead people from illegitemate means.

What do you do when you have a ghillie and decent weapons?
Zeromentor replied to General Dickbutt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That actually sounds awesome. Good luck with the scavenging. -
What do you do when you have a ghillie and decent weapons?
Zeromentor replied to General Dickbutt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've had three ghillies. 1 glitched, and the other was lost 15 minutes later due to a hacker. This one I'm wearing right now, is actually due to that hacker. He actually apologized for what he did (spawned me in the ocean like 8km out and watched me try to swim back. I died 1km from shore). Scared the hell out of me and my friend when he fired at us (invisible with a silenced weapon) and then dropped my gear at our feet. Lost my backpack from a glitch, but I guess my epic struggle for survival (or stuborn mindedness to never give up, even with a hacker on the server) made him feel bad. Awkward moment for 15 seconds, as I wondered if I should berate him or thank him... Thankfully, the admin restarted his server and kicked the hacker. Now I wonder if my gear is considered, "Hacked in" or if it is still my gear, just teleported to me. EDIT: Failed to mention, he dropped the whole server in the ocean, I was the only one still in the water 10 minutes later. -
I'm a dude playing a dude, disguised as another dude. But seriously, I play as a guy. I would sometimes play as a chick (better scenery if you get my meaning) but ghillies don't work with them.

Yeah, I original came to this thread hoping for info. Personally, I hope they get the dead soldier bodies fixed soon. I do love raiding those areas, knowing my survival chances have skyrocketed due to the bug (no one can see me, nor I them) but it is very annoying. I'm not sure if it was a DayZ bug, or if it was due to a recent ArmA2 Beta Patch? Maybe a mix of the two? That is something that could be causing them to take longer (say half the bug is due to patch 1.7.2.4, but a fraction is located in the Beta Patched lines). As it is, I'd rather see weapon damage increased to being on par to what it was before. I'm sad to see my favorite handgun round, the .45, a joke.

Well generally, "?!" at the end of a sentence does not present a calm mind, or attitude. Easily seen here in the OP, "I mean first you make big announcement about fixing all graphical issues/infinite ammo and tell us you will be done with that patch on wednesday. Yeah now its friday and we heard nothing from you.?!" I read quite well, and usually don't miss much. Either I skip something as it isn't important to me, or I pick up on things that others ignore or overlook. In this case, I believe it to be the latter.
-
One of the patches took like 2 weeks after they announced it. So calm down. Any number of things could have gone wrong, or they could have found something else to fix. Maybe they are on vacation, most hard working people take those. Maybe there was an accident in real life. Maybe something as small as the patch server needs repairs from a random bug. Who knows? But I do know one thing: It'll be here when they get it done and push it out.

I have the problem with dead bodies and barbed wire. A few of my friends didn't have problems with the wire, but the bodies have made certain areas nearly unplayable. Luckily for me, I've cashed in. Snipers are reluctant to set up positions overlooking these bodies as the glitchiness of them ruins their shots, and in many cases flat out blinds them. I, on the other hand, brave these areas and collect loot. NWAF, Balota, Stary. More empty now than ever in the past, and in my mind are much safer. Usually a trip to Stary ended 90% of the time with someone getting sniped or popped by someone. I've been there multiple times (due to thunderdome style hacks) and haven't run into 1 single person. Or atleast, I don't think I did, they probably couldn't see me anyhow. But yeah, this needs to get fixed ASAP. It is making many areas insanely hard to navigate safely.

It's a matter of what kind of "lag". If by lag you mean latency from your connection to the server, then it is probably that the server's admin has not restarted the server and it is slowly slowing down. Most servers need to be restarted once every 8-18 hours, depending on the server. Some restart every 6. If you mean lag as in Frames per Second (FPS) decreasing, then it is possibly a mix of both your computer and the server. Servers wear down over time and need to be restarted every now and then. Your computer is kind of similar. It heats up, slows down, and tends to work harder the longer it is on. You can prevent this by making sure it is clean, that nothing is running in the background on your computer and that it isn't overheating. But it really sounds like a server-side issue. I suggest playing on a different server when they start to slow down, lag up or glitch (teleporting zombies, random desyncs for no apparent reason, etc)

Abuse Admin Teleporting to Others killing

Admin kicking/ banning everyone but 5 people us 175
Zeromentor replied to [email protected]'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
5 hours of testing with more than one person (the admin) is obviously abusing power. Blacklist his server, and ban him as well. -
Two things I need to say, one of which might be a little disheartening for you to hear, much more to understand. 1. Not all discussion moves towards improvements. Like for example: I try to improve my truck's mileage. What should I do? Add a ton of bricks to the back? Add four extra wheels? Paint it pink? No. All of that does nothing to improve my truck's performance. Same with this mod. The developers do not want a mod (or as it should be said, a game) where PvP gets you banned from servers and is something to be ashamed of. They want the mainstay of the game to be survival against or with people. That means that human interaction, that thing you dislike a majority of (because people are really mean, real life and ingame) is a main part that will not be taken out. People are here to stay, which includes the whole, "I want to kill you" aspect. 2. PvE only servers, or servers that attempt to ban or suppress PvP only does one thing. Attract Hackers. They come, knowing their antics will cause tears, and kill everyone and blow up everything. And in reality, I disapprove of their methods, but I approve of what they are doing after that. I don't like hacking, but they are proving a point. That interacting with people means you'll have to suffer just that. People. As they are. Oh, and opinions Can be more important. "I LIKE TRAINS" means nothing in this discussion for instance. Don't be naive, just because you can have a differing opinion doesn't mean that it is the correct one. Mine might not be either. That is for the devs to decide. But guess what the devs want? LOLZ.

I'm with this guy. No. Anyhow, this could be easily exploited. DaveTheman101011 asks you to be friendly, you accept, and then DaveTheman10011 blows you away. Even crazier names would make it more fun, as you wouldn't know who you friendlied with, then they could lead you to your death. Or do something fun. "Hey buddy, I have a gift for you in my backpack!" *Player 2 leans over to check bag* *Player 3 leans around corner with rifle, proceeds to headshot immobile target* Continue that as you see fit. This isn't an MMO with a bias against PVP, so we shouldn't have dumb concepts like these. OP, I'm not sure this is the type of game you want to play. If you want to stop people from killing on sight, then try making up an easy way to flag yourself as friendly. Here's a tip: Don't hold a weapon. That'll decrease hostilities tolds you by 50% (made that statistic up)

No such thing as, "Hidden" on a server anyone can join. I find hidden stuff all the time, usually breaking, eating or flattening anything I find. I have started to call any random band that follows me along the, "Locusts". We devour everything, then move on. It's actually really fun, finding tents and vehicles with guns and food, just to eat the food, flatten the tents with the vehicles, then take a joyride and wreck or flip our new toys... Then save them where we left them. But yeah, some servers wipe everything on some restarts. Sucks, and usually that stuff is gone forever. I've lost many trucks, tents and whatnot because of that. Infact, I'm about to lose another camp because my home server won't patch so I can get on and save my stuff. Oh well, nothing of any real value.

Day Z bug fixes: Exploits vs Problems
Zeromentor replied to notorious1212's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I was sorta with you until I found this, "I'm going to come out clean and say that I'm an exploiter. We all are." You say they we all exploit just by logging in without emptying our magazines. But can I be faulted for that happening the next day when I log in? No. That is a problem with the game. It is an exploit when you purposefully log out and then log in just to refill your magazines. So you are trying to adjust blame and say that because you do it it is okay if others are doing it as well, but knowing full well that what you are doing is an exploit. Not the same thing. Personally, I can't wait for the devs to start fixing things in this mod, and for it to go standalone. But I'll have to wait quite a bit of time for that. Until then, I don't misuse ingame glitchs to my advantage (See: Exploit). Oh, and Enfields got nerfed down to just over 6k damage. You won't get 1-hit by it. And from the sound and low rate of fire, you shouldn't die if you know what you are doing. Or you will, probably. But not by getting hit once. You are complaining, don't pretend you aren't. We all complain, it is part of what humanity is. Complaining means you are trying to find a solution to the problem, and knowingly expressing the problem to others. This is a good thing. -
Same with me at Balota. Can't see anything when I look over towards the air traffic control tower. The artifacts cover the entire screen and make it impossible to see anything or anyone. I'm using a laptop with an HD 5870 ATI card and 8gb RAM. i7 processors as well. Usually I sometimes get barbed wire in buildings giving me managable artifacts and disconnecting, and reconnecting, or finding another server works. But this, this is different. And it sucks.

If I was in an apocalypse survival situation I would...
Zeromentor replied to sealteamaus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Park my truck in a tree. Seriously. -
People camping generally use scoped rifles, like the M14, DMR and M24. They camp and kill anyone they see. These weapons did, and still do, 8k damage. Before, when you spawned and grabbed a gun, almost any weapon was fine, barring 9mm sidearms and submachine guns. Now? 5.45 AKs are nerfed, shotguns are nerfed, pistols of all kinds are nerfed as well as the Lee Enfield. 9mm firearms are nearly USELESS outside of spammed close-range fire. AKMs and M16/M4 variants are all that remain, and they aren't normal fresh spawn weapons, though the AKM isn't all that rare. Even the LEE does nearly 2k LESS damage than 7.62x51 NATO (.308) rifles, with all the weaknesses it had before, stopping at the sound range. So what the hell are you going on about? Doesn't mean they can kill you outright? They do the SAME damage and you do LESS. You have LESS of a chance to kill them, even if you get the first 5 rounds off! Check out the math, the damn 9mm takes 14 rounds (14!!) to kill a player. In that time, 2 from any .308 rifle will put you down, and that's 16k combined damage.
-
Strategy does not mean, "Use exploits to avoid death". Hopefully in the future, people will begin aggressively banning people like you. Atleast you ran away before you disconnected, most people just do it right there in the field when the first round is fired. But you get no respect from me. Next time, die with some dignity or keep running.

when I press "fire" it gets stuck in fire mode
Zeromentor replied to Per Ole's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Does it happen in both semi and full auto fire modes? -
Or if they drank solely their piss for a few days, then it could be toxic.

Oh, you're one of those people. Obviously trying to debate you will be pointless as you invalidate your own posts. You originally didn't say that there would be no "1shot kill weapons" in your perfect world. But hey, in your world there wouldn't have high explosives, sniper rifles, high caliber weapons, headshots, vehicles, or small rocks for that matter. All those can '1shot' you. Infact, while we are at it, let's take out PvP because that gets players killed. And zombies, too, those are dangerous as well. And let's stop players from being able to respawn, move or even look around, because they could potentially hurt themselves. Oh but what is this? My sig. Read it. Damn people are stupid.
