See if you have any packet loss, the way you describe the stuttering makes me think its cpu/gpu related not network related, but im no professional so..
-
nah, if you go into settings & preferences you can turn off the option of recording clips, it just might give you a few extra frames and maybe less dips but changing that & your resolution will be noticeable.. I donno if it would help with the stuttering but maybe. Im pretty sure an ssd typically will load games faster but i guess it depends on how fast it is or large.. I donno. Also turning off recordings turns off streaming aswell. + disabling kinect helps free up some cpu load if you have one of those. Tbh tho you might just have a bug you never know with this game.

i run on an Xbox x so i wouldn't know but when i had the og the game was unplayable (awhile ago when the game ran really bad on x aswell). I would change to 720p or atleast turn off recordings (i have recordings off) could help. Maybe make sure your on the servers in your timezone. Also always make sure you have no other apps open, im sure thats not the problem but it helps for any game especially dayz. Could be the external drive i would try, i wouldn't know tbh.

i feel like making locked servers will ultimately be what they do to temporary fix duping and server hopping next patch, unless they have something different in mind. Regardless its an easy quick fix that would allow them to work on other bugs instead aswell.

You mean the night time where i could turn up my brightness and see perfectly fine? Where based on your tv/monitor you either could see everything or nothing? Ya im talking about that "night time" if you even wanna call it that.. More of a "throw brightness up time" if you ask me, completely pointless to even have a night if some people can exploit it while others barely see a thing.
-
so me and my buddy often talk about how cool and crazy it would be if there were creatures or a creature, with a low chance of actually coming after you and would be unpredictable... I know it will never happen but sometimes im playing during the night and feel scared more than i do from a horror game, just from the potential presence of another player, i could only imagine being terrorized by some banshee tree hopping creature. I was also exploring potential ways i could terrorize people, maybe just be posted up on the road talking to myself then out of nowhere pull out an ak and start shooting everywhere.. Or just be creepy until i can go in for the kill lol. Anyone have any stories of their scariest moments, or a moment where you invoked fear?

lol ya i think i was watching those vids a few weeks ago.

People could adjust their brightness to give them an advantage in 1.01, also alot of the people i played with couldn't even see then, no matter what setting they tried to change, meanwhile i saw just fine and could have pretty much bypassed the night if i had turned my brightness and whatever up. better the darkness is consistent between all players rather then it not be, just for visual purposes. I proposed for future updates they lower the the night time length to 30 mins that way it creates some more choice in how you want to spend the night, post up in a house, camp, continue, all players will have their preferences or playstyle if you will, think it could be interesting and would also make it not drag on forever which is what will create the opportunity for choice as right now, camping, and all that for an hour is out of the question for most people. Even traveling through an hour of night is abit much, especially when you can just switch to a day server, feels like your putting yourself threw an unnecessary hassle. How would you feel about 30 mins nights?

Sometimes I just want to shoot my gun...

gotta live life on the edge brother -
maybe make sure no other apps are open or just reinstall the game, then as a last resort clear any saved data off the game.

Their having this issue occur on the server search tab, that's a crazy coincidence if the power is causing that.

i was playing for a few hours up in the tisy military base and sinistok, never spent more then 5 mins off the mountain area, never had ambient cut out besides the rain not making noise or just being to quite to hear. Once i left me and my buddy both lost our ambient audio in around 10 mins, i think near lopatino is when we lost it sitting in a treeline. Hard to tell what the cause is but maybe note worthy how me and my buddy both had the ambient audio for hours up near tisy military base, and sinistok until we left. 10 mins into leaving and our ambient audio is gone. That being said after the ambience is gone you cant get it back even if you go to sinistok & tisy base area, only relog as far as im aware.

Unrealistic nighttime/Forced to go loud on a survival
Robzom11 replied to Jake Blake's topic in New Player Discussion
I agree its too long, but the darkness is good in my opinion. You used to be able to just turn up your brightness and essentially bypass the night. Plus most people I've played with could hardly see in 1.01, meanwhile the other half are "bypassing" the night.. Atleast now everybody essentially sees the same thing for the most part. I think everyone would be happy if they made night 30 minuites, dont plan ahead you might end up having to navigate through the darkness, unlike now where unless you want to sit at a camp for an hour, your forced to move through the night cuz its so long (or switch servers). I personally love the darkness especially because its truly dark and people can't bypass it, being forced to play through an hour of pitch black isn't good gameplay though, its just too much. However lower the night cycle to 30 mins you now offer players different playstyles, Camp through the night, find a building to post up in, or continue traveling through the night. Where right now night just lasts so long it doesn't make sense to even stay on the server. 1.01 night was manageable but most people could exploit the night time by turning up their brightness and everyone had different results so i feel like a 30 min night cycle with the darkness of 1.02 brings things back to a manageable spot while keeping it authentic as possible. Thoughts? -
Nah its pure silence until you relog, no wind or anything ambient. Only footsteps and player noises (gunshots and whatnot), you would notice. Although ive seen videos of people having the same audio issue im hoping its just a 1.01 character thing. Are you using a character from 1.01?
-
Good 2 know, its probley just my 1.01 character having issues then. Im aware of the binocs working now, my point was theres always a new issue every update, just frustrated waiting a month to be able to use binocs, then having another issue come out and knowing it will be awhile until its fixed, but hopefully the audio is just for my old character.
-
Really hope we dont have to wait a month for this bug 2 get fixed. No point waiting, next patch there will just be 5 new bugs that we'll have to wait to get fixed and so on... Crazy how this is a full release version, i can already see half the player base gone by next patch if BI dont get their shit together. I just want to play this game with ambient audio and binoculars that work, can't even do that till next patch & like i said 5 other things will be broken by that time. Not looking forward to playing this afternoon to be honest which sucks because I've been waiting weeks for this patch only to be disappointed by more bugs that are worse then the ones i was waiting to get fixed.
-
Atleast everybodys basically seeing the same thing and people arent turning their brightness up to get a game breaking advantage. Although the moon setting the brightness sounds cool ( i never knew that ) i bet its gone to make it so people cant abuse the light from it too see way more than they should. But ya i was really disappointed when i first heard of the night light but i dont really care now unless it gives me or someone else an unfair advantage.
-
I like the night changes, although im not a huge fan of the night light, it has a haunting glow that i like. I like how nobody can see at night and you can't just turn up your brightness and see perfectly fine either, encouraging people to camp or use light sources, which were pointless before... However with the night being so long it sort of drags on for too long, I'd personally enjoy it more if it was 30-40 mins so i could chill by the campfire and take a break from intently focusing on not dying, instead of continually playing through the hour of night because its too boring sitting at a camp for an hour, your kind of forced to move in a way.
-
Ya same, i think i saw your name on the server list before tbh.
-
Im usually on the same server. I used to not use an online map, but after getting lost for 4 hours once, i now check it when i need 2. I would suggest using the map for the coast tho, especially if you plan on meeting up with your friends, it takes away alot of the time it takes to meetup and is nice to get your bearings from the start but thats my opinion.

So for me i just quit the game whenever that happens and never loose anything. The freezing is game chat related, im pretty sure it occurs when speaking in game chat whilst the fps drops to 0. Only way I've ignored that freeze bug is by just using party chat or not speaking often in game chat.
-
..
-
If a lag spike occurs while in game chat and you are speaking your game will freeze ( client) on the server you will be frozen but able to speak.
-
Had it happen multiple times 2 me and my buddy, hasn't happened since we started using party chat. 2 lazy to make n account for the bug report page lol. Should be able to do it from this website to be honest. Hopefully somebody from their team occasionally takes a look at the forums.

I use 1st person only servers so i dont think whatever your talking about applies to me. Controls are 100% better though, but i doubt the rolling whilst trying to freelook in prone was intended.
