To my knowledge face masks don't seem to do anything against spreading colds, considering the times we're living in it would be a good time to add functionality... Though to my understanding face masks only help the people around the person wearing it not catch a virus or whatever so maybe I'm using it incorrectly, but if i remember right me and a buddy both had a face mask at one point and kept giving eachother a cold. Do face masks work? *Bonus- Covid19 should be implemented in-game along with proper blood type interactions as some blood types have no symptoms while others are more vulnerable. Already it would be one of the more interesting diseases/virus's in game with blood type playing a roll. Also age progression causing those who are older characters to be more vulnerable could be a thing and honestly not sure why age isn't already a thing as grey hair could be the visualizer for your character getting old (doesn't seem like alot of work) then maybe a limp when you reach *insert age here*.

Nah I'm on Xbox and live in Canada anyway.

Will Dayz be available with smart delivery with the new Xbox one series X
Robzom11 replied to Doombringer123's question in Troubleshooting
Xbox's whole thing is cross gen compatibility, so ya you will be playing on the exact same servers with other people who might be running on older hardware. As for smart delivery idk, the game is only 10 gigabytes so not sure there's much point. -
They said they're having issues with xbox experimental for 1.09 which they can't resolve in time and unless i misunderstood they said 1.09 exp wont make it to xbox exp.

Lmao i dont think rob zombie is chillin on the dayz forums (i realize your question is probably sarcastic). It's just a nickname i got in highschool...
-
That's definitely also an option, not one i would ever use but i can see the appeal especially for a focus on interaction, but at the same time you're giving up alot of DayZ just to guarantee something which can still be found on vanilla. Everybody has their own ideal way of playing though. I just cant imagine the organic, unique things that have happened to me on vanilla happening on an rp server, but i guess it goes both ways.

Lol the first time i played DayZ i met a player in game and travelled with them. When they took a backpack i secretly wanted i offered him a can of sardines as they opened it i said sorry and shot em in the head... Felt a sinking feeling in my stomach and remorse for the next 20 mins, that's when i learnt that I'm a good person lmao. To be fair this was back when the game just came out on console and servers were restarting every 40 mins, i saw the server was restarting soon and decided since i wasn't gonna see him again i would kill him (he also didn't have a mic & the idea of betrayal was interesting to me). Just be careful and keep your eyes on people after you befriend them, if i can betray someone anyone can, though you can read people surprisingly well just on their in game body language combined with what they say even though you'll likely ignore it and give them the benefit of doubt. Also I've had my times where I'm clearly sketched out and that sketches other people out into thinking you're up to something so try to be subtle.

I would also like to add that the manner in which you approach players and when is pretty huge, like if you're at a military base generally the rule is shoot on sight especially the more inland you go. On the other hand, freshie on the coast meeting another freshie generally will have a good outcome, or even if the player doesn't have alot to loose and you do(not too much tho), help them out with food and you might make a friend. I find also when you clearly have an advantage over the person that they are aware of their more likely to be friendly however idk if that's a friendship that will last, really depends on if they like you & the type of person (that's really boiling it down to a paragraph tho) My outlook is most people in life get enjoyment out of bringing people down rather than bringing up, so in DayZ where there's usually 0 consequences for killing someone generally you will see the true nature of the person come out, unless you imply consequences that they can't fully consider in the moment. I almost guarantee if you would have announced yourself as friendly from cover, expressed your intentions, they would have atleast talked first or ran off to gain the advantage back (there is a balance you need 2 find). I implement alot of little tricks to encounters and it's crazy the different experience i get compared to others. It might be hard 2 follow what I'm saying idk (I'm not the greatest at conveying thoughts imo), but here's a video from a youtuber who really got me into the "psychology or sociology" if you will of DayZ that will explain things better and really inspired my playstyle. Also a great example at the end that reminded me of your situation, you should check out his other videos like the one before this video "6 tips on how to approach other players".

Ya true probably just another DayZ bug, but it happens with some headsets and not with others so idk. Like i said I've never had this issue myself but definitely know it's a problem for alot of people. Do you have an adapter on your controller? Also to clarify do you have this problem yourself or with other people? Curious if this is an issue on ps4 aswell.

Wait long beards are in game? I've had a character for way too long now and am starting to wish he falls over and dies from whatever disease is associated with old age lmao. Can't seem to grow a big beard, my character can only grow a mustache and gotee, kinda like me irl.

I feel like most the things you're listing are still in the game atleast in some capacity like robbers, hunting, fishing, even crafting (though very limited) you can still garden, & so on, besides book sellers and whatnot, those mechanics are still in DayZ. Is the problem with the mechanics themselves or lack of incentive to use these mechanics? Cuz as far as i can tell you can still explore and do mostly everything you're listing as missing mechanic.

Ya i remember seeing it somewhere under "planned features" back when dean hall was running things, almost everything you can think of has already been a "planned feature" at some point lol. To be fair though supporting DayZ for so long can't be generating enough income to make it reasonable to continually support the game the way they were. My optimistic hope is that eventually they will put some money from other projects (that definitely would yield more income) back into DayZ development, and/or maybe shifting priorities into new games temporarily that have more promise to generate income so that bohemia don't become bankrupt, then again how much money has DayZ generated, is it even reasonable to think their running out? Im not an expert though just tryna look at it through bohemias perspective.

I barely understand how to navigate the feedback tracker, it should be updated with less clutter, made more accessible to just quickly report a bug. I've used it before but it took me 20mins just to figure it out where to post.

Should be a given at this point but you can also do the same for fence kits which is especially useful.

Pretty sure it's an issue/bug with Xbox where i believe if you turn off your xbox while a game is on your game chat (all games) will bug out and not work until you clear mac address. Also just realized that's probably not what you're referring to, i guess you're talking about the issue some people have when they go into game chat and have to plug & unplug their mic until it works... In which case you could try to give them a moment to sort it out (if you have a moment obviously) usually you get a response. Issue has been brought up before, all i can remember is the dev/forum admin asking for specifics on headset type, so i assume they would have to fix it for each type of headset.. Then again it is Dayz and Dayz has long lasting bugs, i wouldn't be surprised if devs haven't bothered, which is a shame because i can only imagine how frustrating that would be (thankfully my 60$ 3 yearold turtlebeach headset has served me well & i don't have this issue). Hopefully some solution is found cuz it's also annoying on my end aswell telling someone how to get their mic to work, as their standing still clearly trying 2 communicate then all you hear is "can you hear me now? Fuck this game is buggy" lmao.

So the loot economy wasnt affected by hoarders no ??
Robzom11 replied to Tyler Tee H C's topic in New Player Discussion
Lmao you should take a walk or something dude, or see an online therapist. I hope 2 god your only a teenager, if not then get help, seriously. Do you really think some condescending post talking about how you were right, and expect apologies is doing anything for you? Or proving anything besides how arrogant you are? Holy shit dude, it's about how you say things not what you say sometimes. I think you're the same guy who called me illiterate for liking a comment that was arguing against you, if im not mistaken. You're either 14, a troll, or an adult that has serious issues. -

So unknown connection error could be anything i guess, but i just fixed my unknown connection error by unfavoriting the server before i joined. It could have been pure coincidence but i tried many times over the course of 24 hours then i unfavorited and i was able to join.

I have a few questions related to vehicles i was hoping someone could answer... 1. I need to know if headlights work on console? I have them installed but it seems like theres no button prompt. 2. Can you put barrels in the trunk? I tried a fire barrel the other day and it didn't work. 3. Tips for your car not to fly away while driving lol i have a really old character I'm driving with (probably will regret but i can't resist) but so far it seems alright, a few desyncs when driving through a town, a few freezes here and there, the best thing I've learned is to keep the tires on the vehicle when you leave it somewhere, unless perhaps on a flat surface or unless you like bumpy rides. I'm planning on driving pretty far today to a base i just abandoned and my main concern is mainly with if and how headlights work on console as i have no batteries for my nvg and am worried I won't be able to see if night falls. I know about the gears and sketchy speeds but if you have any other tips that might be useful that would be appreciated.

The broken bones mechanic was outlined in the 2020 roadmap under new content https://dayz.com/article/general/DayZ-in-2020 I agree the bugs are ridiculous but when you look at the progress made since DayZ initially launched on console, the game has made huge improvements and there are alot less major bugs now. Personally I've only expeirenced bugged guns on guns I've found and have like 40+ dayz in the game, so i can't imagine it's very common. Either way I'm enjoying the unique experiences, but definitely agree the bugs and problems are a huge disappointment (especially bugs you mentioned) i guess I'm not at that point where the bugs overshadow those "only in DayZ moments" yet. I've been having alot of those moments ever since 1.08 i think because grenades are now utility for base raiding, theres more people traveling, scavenging, surviving and building inland. Today i had a situation where me and a buddy unknowingly confronted a group of 6, we approached them thinking there's max 2 or 3, but once we turned the corner there were like 6. We came around the corner fully expecting full control of the situation, only to be really vulnerable once we turned the corner one guy ran and things got sketchy with their entire group slowly backing off and basically having a standoff with casual conversation lol (we had weapons in hand and requested they put theirs away before showing ourselves) we also offered food with some being naively delighted by the offer and others on edge, somewhere their collective group mind came together and a unspoken agreement was made right there that they had to back away... Was it something i said? It reminds me of monkeys inspecting something unknown, with the alphas being cautious while the naive monkeys are interested and the only communication is tone of voice and body language. It's interesting because I've never approached a group of 6 trying to talk and essentially control the situation like it was 2, seeing them all back off without right out retaliating was satisfying knowing it was my words and how i approached the situation that caused this specific reaction/outcome, no other game is this interactive. Later we came across a fresh spawn who said he was killed in cold blood by these guys and sure enough we found them again and took 3 out before barely running back to base alive. (we're also like 4 month old characters geared to the teeth with the rarest guns) The devs are probably doing what they can, and are probably limited by bohemia not funding the development as much as they used to, so that they can fund other projects (correct me if im wrong) whether bohemia cut funds because their greedy or because supporting DayZ isn't viable who knows... I imagine the money they were putting in wasn't coming back so they had to make a buissness decision, or maybe prioritizing other projects was a better temporary solution either way what could really be done? They said the new content was just to keep things interesting and i mean this game would die with no new content, and most of what their adding is qol improvements aswell as fixes, im sure they look at all the major problems but would you rather have a person tackling a bug for a month with possibly no fix or other things improved upon, i imagine this is the situation the devs and bohemia are in, but i could be wrong I'm not an expert. I don't blame you for not being happy with DayZ just saying i really relate to how you feel but for me the good currently out-weighs the bad, and what could really be done anyway?.. Regardless i share your frustration.

I can confirm that item desync is wayy worse, it got to a point where me and my 3 buddies were all bugged and had to log (our hands were bugged, certain items, clothing) worse I've ever seen it, even tom and humptys meat was desyncing everytime we tried to cook em up.. It's only experimental though so hopefully it gets somewhat fixed before the stable version is put out.

Bear Overhaul QoL Improvements These suggestions are mostly intented to be simple achievable suggestions. The intention of these suggestions into gameplay is to take advantage of the bears potential, and create a much more interesting and daunting creature that reflects reality. I'm also aware there are more important things but some of these fixes/improvements are still worth noting as there's alot of missed potential with the bear that is easy to rectify 1. Bears should not roar in the distance nearly as much as they do if at all as it removes any potential for a surprise when you do encounter the bear because you heard it long before and had to of seeked it out. The player shouldn't always know if they are walking towards a bear, in real life bears don't even make much noise unless maybe provoked. The thought of walking through the forest and bumping into a bear is alot more interesting & authentic when it happens on accident and that's currently nearly impossible. DayZ is all about unscripted events that keeps you guessing what will happen next. Bear encounters have to be seeked out and forced currently, i think it would be great to have the opportunity to encounter a bear organicly rather than it only being forced. If anything should be changed about the bear it's this. 2. Bears should only charge towards gunshots if they are within a certain radius of a player, say 40m(just for a rough idea). It's really wierd having a bear charge you because you shot, especially when you and the bear never saw eachother and were 100m apart. Everything beyond roughly maybe 40m, should cause the bear to evade. 3. Bear damage is unrealistic. Every headshot towards a bear should have something like a 30% chance of outright killing it (scales by caliber/ammo) and a 90% chance of it causing the bear to die eventually from injuries/blood loss (maybe 30-120 seconds). Obviously i would rather have vital organs but doesn't look like it's coming anytime, this could be a placeholder similiar to the way body armor works (unless I'm mistaken) this would better simulate reality as bears are capable of tanking shots especially when they are fueled by adrenaline, though i don't think that should always be the case like it is now and maybe whether the bear is aware of you or not dictates how resilient and ferocious it becomes. This suggestion is based off the logic that when bears are hurt they are fueled on adrenaline and become extremely ferocious and resilient if they're aware you caused them the harm. Got that from a youtube video of a grizzly bear attack story, the links below if you wanna check it out, good story, pretty informative aswell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-SK1Aok57w&app=desktop -that's the link if you're interested. 4. Bears/most animals get stuck on fences/objects and/or bounce into the air. The following suggestions are not entirely necessary but worth including as they are still really interesting. 5. Running from a bear that is aware of your presence should cause the bear to chase you as it's instinct. 6. Bears should fake charge you various amounts of times from different angles before either evading or committing to an attack. This once again reflects reality, and how fucking terrifying would this be! This and suggestion 1 would be a beautiful nightmare come true. 7. Bears should be able to stalk/follow players. Bears if not disturbed or surprised by a human will sometimes stalk or even just temporarily investigate the human. Bears in DayZ should occasionally take interest in a player and follow them, for upwards of 20 mins even, until the bear decides to attack or evade/leave. Imagine the anxiety. Maybe if the player has raw or cooked food it could influence this mechanic. 8. Bears should occasionally be attracted to players with raw or cooked food from a long distance, adding more anxiety and fear to the likelihood of a bear encounter. This would require the stalking/following state for the bear for it to be reasonable and authentic. 9. One time use bear spray to impair/scare bears and survivors. This one obviously isn't really a big deal but would be cool... And useful. Now just imagine you're walking through the woods at night, as you push your way through heavily bushed area, to your surprise you stumble onto a bear. The bear gets in a defensive stance and you start walking backwards. This time the bear takes interest in you and decides to follow you, you are now walking backwards away from a bear yelling into your mic for it to leave but to no avail, it eventually charges only to stop a meter away from you and retreats back into the darkness, then to reimerge again from another direction, in what seems like a never ending cycle of torment. Until eventually you just can't take it and run, that's short lived and you're not very smart who could blame you though honestly, but regardless the bear this time only wounded you. You now lay on the ground in the middle of a forest at night with a bear circling your body until eventually after waiting what seemed to be all night you get up terrified still unsure if you're safe... and log out, never touching DayZ again.. forever traumatized. I think that's everything i could think of, thanks for reading. Honestly i just wanted to make a suggestion post based entirely on the first suggestion, but figured I'd have some fun with it and see what else i could think of.

@EzyStriderPS4 Thanks for your thoughts brother. Looking into the fake charging thing abit more seems legit, looks like it's extremely common for black bears but depends on the circumstances. Though usually it's just one "bluff charge" as their called but i did hear a story similar to the one i wrote(think it was grizzly), Im not an expert or anything just know a thing or 2 living in Canada. Heres a link i read from, https://bear.org/how-dangerous-are-bluff-charges/ Not sure if that's just black bears their talking about or not which are surprisingly timid but i guess it's different for all bears and circumstances, generally seems if you suprise them in close proximity that's when they mostly likely attack or/and if you run. The 1st suggestion would be a great start, and also would be interesting to have more depth in hunting all together, sometimes the calls of animals can be annoying even. I appreciate all your responses though, interesting response in point 3 particularly, cheers.

This post is under ps4... @gibo1987 Community servers on console can adjust spawns aswell so that would technically be your solution. However you're probably gonna get alot more server crashes and server lag, there are some servers that run well though. (generally will wipe ever week or 2 for the ones that run well). Honestly if you're already frustrated by the food mechanics this might not be the game 4 u, there's way worse problems plaging the game and you don't even know how to skin a chicken or know how to cook yet you're complaining, just wait until a 3 month old character dies cuz your weapon is bugged, i will say not everything is intuitive so i can't blame you. I know hunting generally will set you up with more than enough food (unless you kill a chicken) and i can atleast get by looting towns so I'm not sure how so many people have issues like you.
