You do realize this is a testing branch to flush out any issues right? I played for hours the other day without hand desync occuring even once, drop your melee weapon. -
Xbox Experimental Update 1.10 (Changelog)
Robzom11 replied to ImpulZ's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
One of the best updates this year, so many tweaks and additions to survival that dayz has been lacking. I will say desync is at its all time worst, i reloged 4 times within my first hour, noticed that my melee weapon was desynced in my hand everytime, wouldn't allow me to put anything else to hands. I ended up dropping the melee weapons and just used my hands and didn't have an issue from then on. Likely it's not the melee weapon itself but the action of pulling it out often that bugged me but still worth mentioning. Spent the day tracking a blue dry bag guy with a random, we both had uncomfortable interactions with this guy, so decided to try and find him, break his legs or kill him or both. We ended up finding another survivor, exchanged some words and items then told him to be cautious of blue bag man, he said if we heard a shot it was him killing blue bag man with his bk rifle (this guy was a pleasure to talk to). Unfortunately we didn't hear a shot we heard 2, and the second and final shot was from a shotgun. We finally found blue bag man hiding ontop of the police station in southern berezino. I saw the freshie we talked to dead on one of the floors, i wasn't happy. I shot a few times to attract my random buddy (we split up) and show blue bag man i ment business. Anyways he came and after a minute he checked the roof and blue bag man had logged... We waited an hour for him to spawn back in but he never did. There needs to be something done about combat loggers, i spent hours looking for this guy only for him to kill a friendly guy then log out basically 4 meters above me when the situation wasn't ideal for him... Me and the random came up with a solution to combat logging, 1. Remove the ability to back out of the log out phase (I've never once needed to back out of a log out) 2. Add a yawn noise accompanied by logging out 3. Increase log out time to 30 seconds. Combat logging on official isn't a rare occurrence either, half the time your just expecting a player to log because literally half the time that's what these brain dead kids do. -
Has anyone been able to place a flagpole kit? I can't seem to place one near my base in the woods, the terrain is pretty much flat, am i missing something or are the kits just super specific on where they can be placed? I even ran out into a field and couldn't place it either...

Agree, though I've only been a freshy a handful of times, i haven't died once in the first 30 from starvation, though me and a random came close when we ate some rotten fruit after our charcoal tabs did nothing, lol I've never been so close to death from starvation, i had to sit in a house flashing red health and red hunger relying on this guy to save me and he did, i later returned the favor when he was cornered on all sides by zeds. I actually hope they make it harder and reduce animal spawns, i used to play very carefuly in the woods the majority of time, but got it to old and easy finding animals anytime i needed, never being forced to take a risk and head into town for food.

@Darth Mopp I don't think indestructable walls are a good idea for dayz even if it's only when you're offline imo. If you're gonna take anything from rust i think it should be the alert system that sends a text to your phone when your getting raided, maybe have an item that's difficult to craft for it idk... But even that's abit odd, but like you said realisticly you would be sleeping in your base. Im not sure what more could be done, the resources it takes to get into a base are already pretty high, maybe make it higher and introduce an item like c4 that's rare that can break through easily idk, also duping would need to be fixed for that to work properly. I agree more could be done to make base raiding more balanced, personally though i think duping should be fixed first and then go from there.
-
I don't know man, maybe they're boosting over your walls? Especially now that weapons damage quickly i can't imagine it's easy to just break into a base unless there's only one wall. My current base is out in the woods and I've had it for a few months now, the one prior i had for 5, i would say find a more secluded area if you don't have people actively protecting it or build in a building where you can have multiple layers just make sure combinations are different as once you destroy a gate the lock falls off with the code visible. I suspect dupers may have something to do with getting raided quickly aswell. Have you tried to find enough ammo or grenades to break into even just one wall, it's an investment and is leaps & bounds better than just walking up with an axe and breaking in, in 5 mins.

Holy shit so get this, im building a garage for my base and i can't seem to place the final fence kit cuz the terrains to uneven (even though its like 5 inch difference) so i get frustrated & bored and one thing leads to another and i whip out the flagpole kit, im whipping my screen around the middle of my "garage" when i briefly see a place icon, i find it and place the flagpole kit! Though it's to far i think from my base so i take it down, as I'm trying to place it again closer to my base i realize there was a shovel laying on the ground where i originally placed the kit... So i take the shovel and drop it on the ground inside my base (where i always wanted to place the flag) and center the flag kit so the shovel is directly in the middle, and fucking wallah it places... I then did the same for the final fence for my garage and it also let me place it, needless to say I'm a genius and am basically fucking elon musk at this point. Im guessing the issue was uneven terrain, and the field was more of a clearing next to the woods my base is in. Weird cuz it's pretty much flat, doesn't make sense for fences or anything to be so sensitive to a couple inch difference. Anyways i couldn't have done it without my trusty shovel, so big ups my shovel. Elon musk out.

Ya it's weird, you need alot of different tools, not the most intuitive process either. I think it may be a console issue, or maybe the side of the map I'm on is bugged for flagpole kits.
-
@Buddagee You need to attach nails and planks then repair with a hammer or hatchet, flags only keep your base from despawning. You have to manually add planks to each fence if you don't have a flagpole so it resets the despawn timer which is like 30-40 (can't remember) irl days.

Can you only build the 3rd story roof out of metal sheets? If so how many sheets for one roof? Also is it still possible to stack items on top of eachother to get over things? I'm mainly building my watchtowers fully because i worry someone will just stack doors to get in. I have 2 watchtowers with the openings facing eachother and one wall unbuilt on the bottom floor with a gate instead, pretty nice style of base in the woods if you wanna avoid people hoping on eachother to get in.

As far as I'm aware, official servers share the same character but reset your location to combat server hopping among other things, private servers has one character per server.

I don't think that came from any devs though, if it did it was an old roadmap that got scraped. As for cars apparently the issue is complicated and may not be able to solve, so if they were to dedicate time into fixing cars they would have to compromise other tasks/bugs and it may lead nowhere and be a waste of time and resources. Hopefully 2021 bohemia get more people working on DayZ again so we can possibly see cars fixed, aswell as more interesting ideas get worked on/added, i have a feeling they're gonna bring development to a halt though, with minor fixes here and there either 2021 or 2022, hopefully 2022 i feel by then the game will mostly feature complete. Ideally i would love to see trains in Dayz, especially like a train with a bunch of carts spanning 500m, so you could have people sneaking on occupied trains to catch a ride (i love watching videos like that on yt, if i ever go to the usa im definitely train hopping idc). There's endless great ideas the devs probably could implement if they had proper funding from bohemia, it's fun to just think of all of the possibilities. Imagine stray dogs in cities and having the possibility to tame one and it would follow you. Taming animals (pets & horses) was on an old roadmap that was way to ambitious and is why devs don't talk about future ideas because they got alot of flak for making empty promises.

I don't know about you but zombie screams really piss me off (i need a therapist). They have a few screams that they use and always flail their arms like a vampire, it would be nice to see more variety. A few examples; maybe some zombies don't flail their arms like a vampire or others simply don't emit a scream until they start hitting you (could lead to interesting experiences especially at night) also would like to see some just make little to no noise walking around (besides footsteps obviously). This would be a really nice Qol improvement in my opinion as currently zombies basically do the same thing everytime and this leads to very annoying, repetitive and dulled interaction between them and the player. Another thing is the zombies not being able to hit you when you're jogging. Pretty sure this isn't intentional but either way it really takes away from any sense of pressure zombies could give you when you're able to just continue as if there isn't a flesh eating monster or monsters behind you.. Maybe there could be some variety there aswell with some zeds being able to keep up and others that fall behind maybe even ones that just stumble. My overall problem is zombies are just to basic and feel like you hear, see and do the same thing everytime you deal with them and it just becomes a mundane obstacle that you do over and over and over again. Hopefully this somehow gets to the eyes of a dev because I'm not sure how many more zombie screams & vampire arms i can handle.

It can be a problem if your running with 4 people, not as many shoes to go around granted this only happened to me once and one person didn't realize they had a leather repair kit until the damage was done... It's an annoyance more than anything repairing every 30-40 mins. Not sure how realistic this would be but i think shoes should wear out less on roads and maybe higher quality boots last longer, maybe like hunting/jungle boots would last longer off road.

@drgullen Hmm your points against the 2 day timer do stack up, not sure what to think now, though i will say i have not had trouble finding knives but regardless the solution to this is you should be able to break a can open. I do still like how the loot economy feels when it comes to finding guns. The other day me and a random went to staroye with no weapon other than an amphibia that we got by trading food, usually by then you have a shotgun and a mosin so that was a breath of fresh air. Though the same thing could be achieved in other ways instead of a 2 day timer. I always hated how easy it was to find a decent gun quickly, especially when that gun is likely all you need for pvp and is the gun you will have for awhile and likely just died with in your last life. This is probably my favorite side effect of the 2 day timer and hope that atleast gun scarcity stays one way or another as it is if the timer is reduced.
-
I didn't have an issue finding knives neither did the random i played with (found one on dead player than another in a building spawn), and we found like 3 chicken spawns and a goat within a 300m radius(abit ridiculous but im hoping it was just lucky). Maybe you got really unlucky, lol maybe i got really lucky. I think you need to take a fresh look at the 2 day timer, it really makes the world feel lived in and makes you feel like you're actually scavenging through dropped items, idk i love it. I agree with the cans though, that definitely would be awkward dying like that. I think you should be able to open them by hitting anything though, making them abit less viable/common of a melee weapon aswell, unless you like opening cans with a skull.
-
I really like the new loot economy, as @ZingZootZephyr said it makes the world feel lived in and you feel like your scavenging. Had one of the greatest adventures today with a random but not because it was epic although it had its moments of shit hitting the fan and wholesome interactions. I'll spare you the details but going into staroye with nothing but a badly damaged amphibia (that we got by trading food) was a breath of fresh air (usually you have a shotgun and mosin by then). Really can't explain it but the rate we were finding loot felt really good and it made finding things like a double barrel, then a town later shells all the more special. Really just can't explain it but i can't wait to die so i can do it all again. Only complaint would be animal spawns were way to abundant and made starvation not an issue, we found like 3 chickens and a goat within less then 15mins within a 300m radius all in upper electro, though maybe we were lucky in which case i don't have a problem with that.

I think there's an issue with building watchtowers, I'm trying to build upon a pre existing watchtower from 1.08 and it won't let me build any stairs or the logs to build up the 3rd floor part. I imagine it might have something to do with it being from a previous patch, or the watchtower building is just broken in general. Come to think of it i may have needed to use a hammer on the 3rd floor logs but still i can't build the stairs. I can build and repair fences fine. Has something changed or is it just broken? Also i have 2 watchtowers put together to create a closed structure. Also couldn't find an area to place the flagpole kit even though there was way more than enough room for it. @ImpulZ

Lol did you eat with blood on your hands? Make sure you wash your hands... Also i don't think things get contaminated, you just needa find some tetracycline pills to cure yourself, i think multi vitamins can cure most if not all illnesses aswell. Pro tip eat and drink small amounts of food & water so you don't puke. Most bottled water you find needs to be chlorinated aswell.
-
They changed the amount of nails and i think also planks you need so that might be the issue.

@blackburnrus That shovel part was great 😂

As for framerate issues i think it's tied to opening inventory as you move or in certain areas, which persists afterwards unless if you press rb/hotbar wheel which brings fps back to normal. Not much they can do with only a couple of people on the team, and the hardware of current gen. In my opinion the fps isn't all bad aside from the random hitches and inventory caused lag. Next gen xbox got leaked and xbox series s is apparently $299, newer hardware, better cpus which i think will make the game run like butter as they say series s can run 120fps so i imagine frames will be alot better on dayz (cpu on current gen is very outdated). As it stands the fps is decent for the hardware we have aside from inventory caused lag. Whether you're on Xbox or PlayStation i think next gen will be the solution. (i hope lmao)

Honestly was thinking of this change for abit, love it. Freshies with hoodies made things look abit to "gamey" also alot more clothes that will be worth putting on now. Also love the house texture variants, god only knows how much we needed abit more variety. Alot of other great changes & additions aswell, can't wait to try it all out. 🙂

I like the tackle idea, would take some animation work though. My thought before was just a simple grab mechanic to make trapping large amounts of zombies obsolete. Kind of a big reason why zombies aren't a threat imo, you just run in a shelter and run past them and close the door, pretty lame. As for kill animations i wonder if it's even possible in dayz, probably would take alot of animation work to do it for every weapon, to my understanding creating animations is expensive unless you have your own equipment and studio for it (which is also expensive to get).

No i just found an nvg strap yesterday, you can also use a tactical helmet just incase you didn't know.
