The most annoying thing about the DayZ community is this: They complain about bugs and say the game needs fixing. They don't understand how difficult some bugs can be, and some have different levels of complexity, usually the worst ones are the most difficult. The game then gets an update where some bugs are addressed and instead of saying thanks, they cry for new content! Just enjoy the damn game! If the devs rushed a load of new content just to please you, there would be loads of complaints that it doesnt work properly, it needs fixing then they would fix it and get moaned at for not adding anything new..... Let them get on with it, some things take more time than others, but they will get round to it. At the end of it, we will have a great game to enjoy!

Completely agree with this. I've nearly been killed by zombie hordes because of lag. Stability should come first, then content

I am playing the Xbox version. I'm saying the danger shouldn't be on the coast. Did you not read my post? I'm saying its far too easy to get geared up so they should be making the military loot further away, stop making it so easy to get military gear quick and rush back to the coast. The danger should be inland. I like the player interaction inland, but there is supposed to be more danger the further inland you go, as that should be where the best loot is. At the moment, its far too easy to get geared up, so I am saying your suggestion of adding more military spawns is terrible. You really should read the full post before replying to it, rather than cherrypicking a sentence to comment on.

@bent.toe well in that case I would have assumed you would know better than to make assumptions when someone has a problem and telling everyone else they are wrong.

Doesn't detract from the fact that you made a lot of assumptions before posting your apparent solution without knowing anything. You should have asked if the inventory was full first instead of telling everyone they are wrong. So once again, stop talking rubbish and telling people they are wrong when they are trying to help. Oh, and for the record, I didn't call you an idiot anywhere. Also, your playtime has nothing to do with it, seeing as updates are frequent. If you think it matters then I'm sure over the life of DayZ I have had many more, being a PC player beforehand.

Awful suggestion. If anything, it should be more difficult to get hold of decent weapons. Force the players to go inland. The coastal towns in the South and East should have nothing but essentials, such as food/water/clothes/medical supplies etc, and then some backpacks, knives and melee stuff. The Police stations should have handguns/SMGs and bullets/magazines should be scarce. There should be less military outposts, and they should have the decent weapons. It'll make sure that once you have the means to survive, you can start heading inland where the danger is supposed to be!

Yeah I find the coasts to be very populated on those servers too. It's ok because it makes the spawning and the first half hour a bit intense, but once you get away I would love to see some more action inland. I played on PC and you always got encounters in villages and towns up North and West, but you barely get that anymore, which is something I miss. People need to stop camping freshies at the coast and come inland, keep the game interesting!

Not sure if anyone else has experienced this....... But I have found a few times that leaves on some trees seem to be bulletproof. I had some people shoot my friends, so when I went to go shoot back at them, by bullets visibly hit the leaves on trees in front of the player, rather than hit the player I was aiming at. It has also happened when shooting at zombies too. It's quite frustrating as this time, the players I was shooting at were able to turn around, which lost me my element of surprise. Fortunately I survived that encounter but it's still a pain that you can't seem to shoot through leaves!

Yeah, this has happened to me a few times. But then I have also had the reverse where I was hit 2 or 3 times and managed to get away and kill the other person...... So balances out!

So..... not strictly to do with DayZ, but I can't figure out how to change my username to my gamertag rather than my actual name! I have signed up to the bohemia interactive too, but that didn't work either. If anyone knows how, could you let me know? Then I'll deletethis thread as it'd not to do with the game!

So guys, I was thinking we could make a thread so people can tell their survival stories in DayZ, whether it is funny times, fun encounters, making friends, getting killed, intense firefights, or just any other interesting stories you have during your time playing this game! My story happened Friday evening (21st September) Me and a friend had managed to get relatively geared. I had been to Balota and the Pavlovo military base. I'd managed to get some decent military gear (Silenced AKM, silenced pistol) and had also managed to pick up an M4 for my friend who was still in Elektro. I came back down the coast to meet him, we met and decided to head East, with the intention of going up the East coast, see if we can meet some fresh spawns, help them out or maybe have some fun interactions. On our way to Kamyshovo, we ran into an American guy (we are from England) who was pretty cool, we said he could roll with us if he kept his gun on his back (just in case) as he was pretty new. When we entered Kamy, we ran into another guy (Irish) who needed food/drink so we gave him some. During our chats, another fresh spawn came by, who was rather rude to us..... We decided in order for him to live, he would have to wear a nurses dress and leave. He put on the nurse dress, and then we thought it would be funny to make the 2 fresh spawns fight to the death for the right to walk away alive!!! The Irish guy won an epic battle, and the dude in the dress eventually fell down dead. When celebrating the heroic victory, we were suddenly ambushed and bullets started raining down on us!! We managed to take cover and I noticed a guy sitting in a bush. I fired some shots and he fell down dead. I had definitely seen movement behind some fences in a nearby house. I saw someone looting the body I had just killed. I called out to my friends, asked if anyone was looting the body. No reply.... I shot and killed the looter. We headed to the tree lines to regroup and do an ammo check then headed back into the town cautiously, looking for the rest of the ambushers. I suddenly saw movement near a house while I was caught in the open, 2 guys had appeared from either end of a fence. I managed to kill one, but missed the other as he took cover, luckily my friend was able to keep up with him and finished him off, one more guy appeared and we took him out comfortably. Our Irish boxing champion from earlier survived the encounter. Our American friend did not. We looted the dead bodies and noticed something. The looter I had killed was in fact our american friend! For some reason he had gone to loot the first dead body and didn't respond when I asked who the looter was. I couldn't take chances in that situation. RIP our American friend! Upon a full search of the bodies, it turned out our ambushers were a fully kitted squad of 4! All had rifles with 6-7 full magazines, plenty of food/drink and military clothing. We were sitting ducks at the beginning, standing still in the middle of a road when we were ambushed. Somehow we had survived the encounter. Our Irish Boxing champion had proved to us that he was trustworthy. We ended up teaming up with him and meeting his friend a bit later. This was a really really fun encounter! Some really adrenaline pumping moments in the firefight, a lot of funny times with the boxing match, and one guy wearing a dress, then the relief as we realised we had all survived. Chris, that's a good way to do it man.

I always try and talk to people when I first see them if I can get to a position where I have an advantage or they can't see me. This will be a really difficult idea to get across because not all players use the forums!

Depends. If I have a clear advantage, or I can get myself into an advantageous position, then I'll talk to them. If they put their gun away, then I'll have a conversation, if not, then I take them out. I'll always talk to fresh spawns, give food or drink if they need it etc, but if they have a gun, the second they point it at me, they are going down. I prefer to get an interaction, but I'm not going to take too many chances. Even geared guys I will still try to talk to if I can get into a position where I can do so safely. If there is no way to get an advantage, then I'll wait for them to leave the area, or if I get shot at first, then it is no mercy and I'll take them out. By the way, @CarlTheGooner, you're gonna have to get used to the fact you're gonna die.You'll get ambushed, sniped, and you'll die from glitches. It happens. The biggest advice anyone can give is don;t get attached to your character or your gear. The game is not as fun if you spend all your time playing far too passive or just shoot everyone you see. I find the real memorable times and the most fun comes from interacting with players. Sure, there are times it turns out bad, but it's not the hardest thing in the world to gear up again. Try talking to people. It may go wrong but you'll have more memorable experiences

I quite like The Running ManZ, he has some decent videos. Also agree with M1NDR, hes decent. WOBO has great tutorials and has a look at the mechanics aswell to give tips and tricks to surviving

Jeez, so many people are getting angry at a character wipe...... These things happen. It's not a finished game. Did you think you were gonna live forever with your character? You will die, you will get reset during testing, you will experience bugs. It literally tells you before you buy it, so why act like a bitch when it happens? I quite enjoy the grind of looting and slowly gearing up. Those parts can be the most fun. Some people get too attached to their characters

Any idea how to range down? I found pressing up on the d-pad while scoped changed the range on my gun...... cannot figure out how to go back down again

It is a bit annoying when people abuse it, but while crashes and random disconnects happen, then I think they should leave it as it is for now. I would be annoying if you were in the middle of nowhere and you suddenly disconnect. If someone was near and there was a long timeout, then that would be frustrating to log back in and find yourself dead. Keep it as it is till servers are fixed, then do something
