Nice to have a notice like this next one. It will give some of us a chance to experiment and produce content.

Realized one thing that this game is missing that is actually a benefit: Achievements. Instead of chasing points, a game like this allows the players and community at-large to dictate what is worth pursuing.

Maybe not entire buildings, but at least maybe seeing doors and windows ignite would make for some thrilling encounters.

What makes them extra difficult to spot is the lack of a rendered object, for now, a well-known issue.

Unplayable frame drops in bigger cities (OneX)
Marvel_Ham replied to Whateversclever's question in Troubleshooting
I'll add to this as best I can because it's almost game-breaking to me and my crew in this state. We run Elektro in squads of at least 4 or more once we're geared with a variety of weapons on high-pop servers. Some have Gen 1 XBONE, others have XBONE-X...makes no difference. We can tell the difference between server stutter for logins, this is definitely client-side. In the middle of the city (apartments, hospital, office, pub, etc) there's always one of us that has to fall back until his frames catch up, press Home button, etc. My thinking is close proximity, with lots of inventory, and many things to render at high speed, is too much unoptimized data for the processor on any platform. One of us is going to try and install DayZ on an external SSD to see if that helps. -
How did I not think of that? Appropriate & excellent idea! I saw something about landmines too in an old PC post.

There are already 3rd party devices for XBox that for a long time have provided KB/M function as well as scripting . Only posting this to keep people aware, as it shouldn't be a surprise that MS wants proprietary hardware.

In high-pop servers, Electro is the best place to get your cheeks clapped.

To add on the list of gripes: Combat Logging Take over a building. Your enemy leaves that server. He joins another in the room you’re in, and leaves again. Next thing you know, he’s spawning behind a locked door and sprays away. Is there anything planned or in-place for these scenarios?

Also, Previously Played filter definitely works. Use the menu buttons.

Try hitting the Home button on your controller, then go back to the game. Sometimes it fixes most processing problems.

@Molecular Drift 1.0 It can benefit those that produce DayZ content online.

A small stone can be crafted into an improvised knife.

@PureMarksman You are right in the sense that your character model doesn't effect gameplay and isn't explicitly necessary. Where I am going to disagree with you is in each player's sense of immersion. To me, having a character to be attached to would greatly add to the factors of survival and loss. DayZ is a purchasable product afterall, and more features are welcomed.

@BombardingI can see you are enthusiastic, but all I was looking for was a simple YES/NO about a head-up on character wipes, not that it is unexpected or even a big deal to me. You are well within your own rights to get as long-winded as you want, but reading is fundamental. @TheYetiBumI'm all for it.

Jade Monkey Always a cheek-clapping good time.

Agreeing with all of this. It's been a compromise with this latest patch - sacrificing overall stability for multiplayer difficulties. I'm avoiding PVP for now after dying due to all of the above problems contributing greatly.

An itemized sound adjustment menu could make for a better suggestion. Maybe separate environment/steps/weapons etc. Though yeah, the menu screen tornado is obnoxious on headphones.

Playing on Gen1 XBO: My group is at least 5 maybe 8 sometimes. If we’re all close-by and trading, my XBO goes into “frames” just about every time and freezes out eventually. It’ll force me to Home quit often. My internet is strong, not sure what the bottleneck is. Wondering if anyone else experiences the same type of problem?
-
Asked around in my group...apparently the XBS and X don’t get much of a boost for DayZ. Maybe BI could consider some optimization as a priority.

Check the @dayz Twitter for these kinds of things.

The last 2 server updates wiped the whole DB, stashes and all.

Ditch your shoes, at least for right now. Why? Quiet steps, plus there isn't any damage applied as of right this moment.

Plus I wouldn't get too attached to your characters anyhow. We should expect character wipes & all along the development cycles.
