Pretty sure the request wasnt "please make night time look like our tvs have been turned off", because that's what I've got! I well know how to use torches, and it's got me killed twice. Define dangerous area, because both my deaths were well out of towns where I should have been reasonably safe. Single head shot, black screen, dead, using head torches. Head torch = no helmet = easiest target in the world. I'm all for night being night, I like that it lasts a while, I dont like that it makes the game unplayable for 50% of the playtime, especially when I'm lucky to get 4-6 hours a week to relax playing games. I don't even mind the duping, I'm just getting on with it, the way the game bugs when zombies go agro is a bigger problem with doors suddenly being really difficult to close, but you at least need to be able to see something!

I've put the game on today and it's taken 7 hops to find a day server and I've spent about half hour doing that. Really really boring! Edit: Five minutes on the day server and the game dropped me back to the menu screen. Just joined another server, guess what, glass black screen. I'm at about an 80 - 90% hit rate for jumping straight into night time servers I can't play on. This needs fixing fast!

I've come to play the game this afternoon and as usual loaded right into a night. I've done 4 hops now, all night (edit, now 6 hops, it's a waste of god dam time) . I seem to suffer this everytime I join. I've now spent half an hour since loading the game up just trying to find a day server! What I don't get is why the devs are focusing on making changes like this. Nobody wanted this or had an issue with how it was, no one was asking for a night time tweak. Meanwhile, all the things people do want fixing carry on staying broken, month after month after month. They need to stop wasting resources fixing things that aren't broke and concentrate on the things that are.

Every single time I log on it seems to be night time it's getting boring to the point I'm getting close to dropping the game again. I went away for a while and can back for the full release and it was better. This night time thing is pushing me away from the game.

I'm well aware of how to make light. Moving around with lights on has got me killed twice. You're a glowing target if you produce any sort of light at night making it a non starter.
-
No more pointless than being able to see nothing like many of us are suffering. Night should be dark but local visibility should be dim but reasonable, and the view distance simply reduced as well. It should be really dark in buildings and forests etc, but under a full moon and not under cover should be quite easy to see where you are. I've walked over the Moors at night under a full moon and its really quite easy to see. This game for me is like someone has turned the TV off, that's entirely pointless. It was fine before the recent update!

Guess what needs to be added is ownership of storage items that can be locked, with a limit on how many you can own. Only items in the storage boxes you own stay, and once its full that's your limit. Anything you try hoard outside your personal storage containers simply despawns as soon as you log off that server. An item ownership system like this would remove the duping issue from the game entirely and open up the possibility for trading etc.

Good luck with torches, it's basically a bullseye for anyone nearby. It was about right for me before, dark but not so dark you couldn't operate. Now when night falls all I can see if a reflection of my room and I basically just put the controller down till daylight. Currently, it's utterly pointless and I struggle to understand why devs thought making this change was a greater priority than fixing actual bugs like dupers or all the issues with the vehicles.
-
How are people even getting vehicles. I've only ever seen two and finding all the repair items has so far been impossible.
-
Another one here unhappy with the night. When ever night falls I basically put the game down and wait for daytime as staring at my own reflection in the tv just isn't what I thought I was buying. You can't see zombies, can't see where your going and basically cant do anything. I've no idea why the devs thought this update needed this, or why they thought making the game impossible to play half the time was a greater priority than fixing bugs or dupers. Boggles the mind!

Another annoying seemingly lag related thing is enduring the night, only to lag out and lose connection, to then join another server and it's night time again, and to go through that 3 or more time in a row. That's getting old quick, especially when you've waited all freakin night before setting off through a forest. Now I've spawned back into pitch black, can't see a thing with no way to orientate myself, and no light. This isn't playing survival, this is the game shafting you due to broken mechanics and its freakin relentless.

Happens to me all the time, like every hour or so. I think it's triggered by zombies, by other players, and by people joining and leaving servers. I never know what's going to happen the other side of the freeze either, sometimes I get kicked, sometimes a zombie is attacking, sometimes I'm missing the item I had in my hand. At this point I don't think the devs have the skills to fix it so I just try not let it bother me too much.

Yawn, been playing both for ages. Another thing, it's still rubbish when you drop a load of gear to organise it all and the game then loses connection. Then you can't log in for ages. Man this needs fixing bad.

I suspect this thread will get deleted given the language in the first post, but I've gotta say I agree with the sentiment. I stopped playing because of how bad the game machanics were, they were just game breaking. I've tried again now the full release is here and some things have improved, like that god awful sky and the inventory management, but honestly the sky looking laughably bad was the last of my worries. The game still chugs like a bitch as soon as zombies appear. You can't try fight them because you've no idea what will happen. I've seen them walk into houses through walls and back out the other side. The games frozen when a zombie goes agro, only for me to be dead when it's unfrozen, and that daft auto aim assist that kicks in only when you aim at a zombie, but assists your shot off target is baffling. Guns not firing for no apparent reason and the fact simple opening and shutting of doors because I complete chore just needs fixing. Surely at this point the focus should be to get the fundamentals super smooth. I recently tried generation zero which in all honesty was really boring, but the game mechanics at least worked. That's another indie dev title and it just puts this mess to shame. Why do the DayZ devs seem to focus on fixing things that are a minor point, trying to fix server hopping or combat logging with fixes that pretty much have no effect, yet still the main game mechanics are just such a mess that most times I die from the environment, it's due to a glitch more than anything else. How they can't seem to get this game balanced properly and working right is just beyond me. The concept is awesome, the execution is at best very average and is probably the most poorly executed title on xbox, even PUBG works better.

I've just loaded this back up after leaving it for a few weeks while things get worked out. The frame rate is crazy low, must be like 15fps or less. Is this where this game is at right now? I know it's a preview but for the majority of it I find it hard to stay interested the performance on constant character wipes are so bad. Whys the frame rate dropped from what was already poor to borderline unplayable?
-
Why does anyone even CARE about server hopping. So some people like to change server all the time, I really couldn't give a monkeys!
-
This update hasnt fixed anything for me, including this.
-
Ok, so looking at the update list, I didnt suffer many if these issues, option always worked fine etc. The online menu still cant be scrolled for me, so that fix didnt work, but having just joined a server Ive always found very reliable, i got kicked within a couple minutes and the frame rate is down to like 15 fps or some trash like that. Poor update for me this one☹
-
Any reason this game doesnt update automatically? I only get on once or twice a week and have painfully slow internet and the updates are taking an hour or so of my game time doing updates when I only get 4-6 hours a week online.

Ok, so tonight Ive played on a friends profile in an attempt to get him closer to where a few of us are on the map. After playing with his character for a couple of hours I switched back to my own profile. Despite a console reset, the game title screen shows my friends character and not my own on my profile. Further to this the game has locked me out of the servers now, and Ive not even played my own profile character tonight. There have been some real oversights with respect to console related features (like to controller disconnect and party chat bugs) and if the Q1 2019 full release I head of is true, this game has a lot to do to hit that target! Since release Ive struggled to even get into a game maybe 50% of the time, which is poor even for a preview game.

Locked in database should be REMOVED from the Xbox One version until a critical fix can be provided
M00nfly replied to MarczXD320's topic in Xbox
Totally agree with this one. Ive been locked out because Ive switched profiles for some reason, and server restarts are a big problem, as well as disconnects. If you take a break from the game every hour or so and want to log out so you dont get killed, you cant. The character lock is just a bad idea all round and Id rather live with hoppers any day. The devs need a better solution to stop server hopping if they dont want players doing it. -
To be fair, this excuse is already getting old. I couldnt play the game for 48 hours after the last update. People get that the game is buggy, but buggy and simply being unable to play at all are different things, people at least expect to be able to play the game. A mechanism to stop server jumping is a bit silly when the state of the game means people are thrown off and have to join another server literally all the time.
-
I keep getting kicked from servers, and now I cant join any. Is this the mechanic designed to stop server hopping? Good in theory maybe, but pretty bad when you can't get your game servers working reliably and people are server hopping because the game is forcing them to due to constant disconnects. This is one buggy pre-release! Do the developers actually want people playing their game or not.
-
This is basically how the game is so I accept it and it doesnt bother me at all. If some mechanics were put it to stop it that also wouldnt bother me, but its really not difficult to stop. If you had a fresh character for any server you joined, like in ARC for example, that would kill it dead, of course the servers need to be working first.

The issue I have at the moment is this is the most expensive pre-release cost of a game I can recall, and there is little point in playing it at the moment even if you can get on, except to loot a bit. Theres only really basic features implemented and theyre pretty much all broke. A bit of general feedback - In most games the thirst and hunger meters seem to drop way too fast (occasionally they seem to degrade at a rate thats more expected), like you look in a few buildings and your de-hydrated again, which is a bit OTT, I feel these need balancing out better. Ive been unable to use almost every weapon Ive found for one reason or another, they even seem to degrade just from re-loading them, often into an unusable state, and Ive not had a single weapon that can be reused after emptying a single mag, which again either needs fixings or re-balancing out as its a bit ridiculous. The micro manage feature needs sorting ASAP as well, having to drop items all the time just to swap to a bottle of water is silly, quick swap needs to work even if inventory is full (which it isnt but its a known bug anyway I think). The UI is possibly the least intuitive and most clunky Ive seen since gaming in the 80's and 90's, this needs a good look at. How you approach death needs to be a bit more obvious, not just die. A heartbeat and red mist on the edge of the screen that warns you how close to death you actually are would be good. Looking down a scope in any position other than standing or kneeling on flat terrain seemingly breaks your characters weapon alignment, prone on a flat surface seems to be 50/50 on whether or not it will break. Again this is making weapons useless almost all the time so really needs sorting ASAP. You have to log off to fix it which puts you back in the server joining PITA debarkle. Zombies will quite often glitch, theyll get stuck running on the spot only to jump to being right next to you when they go agro. Damage is avoidable if you keep moving, but his happens a lot and is bad news if there are more than one zombie about. Given the cost of this title (basically the cost of a full priced game up until prices went up this gen), and the cost being considerably more than a PC game, users expect a bit more, even for a pre-release. The game is very bare bones at the minute and the basics that are here are almost all broken, giving the game no purpose other than to loot in preparation for the game being improved, though the looting is also somwhat broken as well. Console gamers are not as used to extreme bugginess at the best of times, and I suspect the amount of people playing this game will diminish very quickly if these early bugs arent addressed. Basics like just being able to get into a game, and being able to fire a weapon really should be there from release.
