Inventory bugs are rife in this game, the entire inventory system is very buggy and unreliable . This happens to me all the time, just find enough weapons so that you always have multiple back ups. Even some back ups will glitch, getting stuck on storage crates or vanishing etc, so you've just got to make sure you have lots of weapons stored away.

Along with a ton of other persistent never-to-be-fixed bugs, car physics in this games are a complete broken mess, with seemingly no interest or focus being put into fixing them. You have to roll with it and suck it up, and just hope it may be put right one day, or do something else. I regularly take long breaks from this game once the long list of repetitive bugs have become tiresome.
-
At this point, I'm sure you're either trolling, or just stupid. In any case, I sympathise with the OP. 4 glitched cars in 2 days is enough to test anyone's patience. You can play this game for an hour, literally every single time you load it up, and hit multiple bugs with complete ease. Tonight we've spent 4 hours getting the parts for our 4th car in 3 days, only for it to flip on its side randomly for no apparent reason. To avoid the torrent of bugs I can only imagine you barely do anything in the game, but in any case I'm past caring, you offer nothing constructive and berate anyone pointing out the bugs. Go fan boy!

Even those two games aren't as bad as this one if you factor in progress to fix the issues and how long the games have been out. Like you I enjoy it but if you can't recognise the condition it's in (I've basically been sympathising with the OP) then you're just in denial. I've been on this all weekend, and on a private server with only 3 players, and you still encounter bugs constantly. Managing inventory is still a pain and at its worst impossible, the cars are still in what feels like a pre-alpha state, and needing a relog every couple of hours to get things re-sync'd is part of the game. It you want to pretend this is a polished game you crack on, but the 'toxicity' as you call it isn't random, it's a result of years of playing an unforgiving game that is as buggy, well almost, today as it was a year ago, and with every fix comes a new set of bugs. Add to that you pay a premium on console over pc anf it's kind of why people get frustrated.

You ignoring a huge glaring FACT. This is the only game that suffers as bad as this one. Even PUBG which was as bad when it first came a long has seen huge improvements, and while it may not have zombies on the map, it still has all the spawn points and runs with 100 players not 20 or 30. I don't need a crash course in how the tech works, I know how it all works just fine. This game is broken for everyone, some suffer more than others, but the game is still super buggy and each patch to fix something breaks something else. The game is ambitious, it is conceptually great, but you can't blindly defend the issues people experience and put the blame for that anywhere except the dev team. Look at how bad no man's sky was, and look at elite dangerous, those two games have seen great support and made way more progress in the same time frame. Dayz is losing its player base, and its not because the game is rubbish, it's because of all the inherant issues.
-
Really!? Just.... Wow. Dayz has a big map, that's it, the actual content is fairly simple, the only real point being its a live server.. There are tons of games with huge environments, and most with a lot more going on. Get busy on Google if you need to educate yourself.

I'm running on an XB1X and again, the hhd isn't an acceptable excuse. There's a ton of games out there that are easily as big as this game, the difference really is most aren't running on a live server. The 4 crashes last night were the first time I'd booted the game up for months, so it wasn't very reassuring that anything had changed. I have over 200 games in my collection not including game pass, and like I say, this is the only one with this kind of severity of bugs and lack of support to fix it. I imagine the issue must be this is a very small team of devs working on this title.
-
This is the xbox forum, corrupted files are the devs problem if that's what's happening. I played last night and it took 4 attempts to get the game running, it crashed twice on the load screen and a couple times in game. I met up with my mate and he couldn't see half my inventory when I tried to share it. The game is years old and still performs poorly and is riddled with bugs. I'm actually not concerned with weapons as long as I have enough to get by, I just want the game to be playable and fun. Once I got going last night I did actually start to enjoy it again, but surely nobody is defending the issues with this game, it's one of the worst I've ever seen for bugs, and I've been playing games for over 30 years.
-
I've not played this game for months because I'd got fed up of the bugs, dupers removing all the loot, the base building being too time intensive and ultimately unrewarding as people can just wreck it in minutes, and cars were borderline unusable. I loaded up today for the first time in a while, character didn't appear on the load screen, just some glictched polygons. So I figured whatever, selected randomize and joined a random server with this new unknown character. As ever, it's night time and my screen looks like my TV has been turned off except for a white dot in the middle and the hud at the bottom. I've just basically rolled my eyes, turned it back off (likely for another couple months) and came here to see what the current concensus is. Safe to say I think this game has the worst devs in the industry and they're working hard to destroy a game that has everything needed to be awesome. Everything except decent devs that know how to make the thing work properly and deliver an enjoyable experience. What a waste of money this purchase has been.

Actual game lag and latency is a non issue, what you do need is a good low latency connection to the shadow pc, as long as that is stable its fine. Its no good if you're a competetive gamer playing shooters, but it works pretty well for games like Dayz, though I've only actually been playing Empyrion so far. I initially had issues but once I got my laptop wired it was fine. It was quite a kick in the teeth to find out I couldn't play Dayz after buying the game and getting shadow for the sole purpose of trying to improve my experience of this game, only to find out Bohemia use Battle Eye anti cheat and that company have blanket blocked virtual machines rendering Dayz impossible to play via that route. I've spent in excess of £100 getting shadow set up which is great compared to buying a gaming pc from scratch, it's a very sour taste to find out the game can't be played that way only after spending the money. Add the XB1X upgrade that cost me £100 quid and add the costs of the games and I've spent over £200 in an effort to play this game, so yeah, it's left a very bad taste in my mouth at this point.

I've kind of given up on this game. My TV is calibrated to my room which I mainly use at night, so my calibration settings mean my screen isn't super bright. The update to nighttime made my nights so dark its pretty much unplayable. Without a torch I cant even see my character, just a floating spade on a black screen with the hud icons in the bottoms corners and a reflection of my room. I like the idea of night, it adds to the game, but only if you can actually play at night. I also don't have hours at a time to play, so a 2-hour day worked nice for me, but I would have preferred night time to be half an hour instead.

A reply a few hours ago by impulz saying the team is looking into it 😂, what a load of rubbish. I've also noticed weapons behave well looking down scope until you actually aim at a zombie. Attract one, run inside a building and close the door, then go to a window and wait for one to come to the window and stand still, then aim down scope at it head and watch how your aim moves all over the place all of a sudden with a slight adjustment of the stick making it go all over. When you cant easily make a head shot on a zombie that's stoof still from a metre away, you know the game mechanics are duff. This game is never getting fixed.

I've had the same experience and basically stopped playing. When I last I played I'd manage to work out how to stay alive and find half reasonable gear to help stay alive with after suffering the same experience you had, but I had persevered despite all the same game breaking bugs and deaths due to BS. I got on with getting a vehicle together which took the best part of two weeks (I don't play for 12 hours a night as life generally gets in the way). Vehicles are a whole other can of worms. Theyre beyond useless, basically made of eggshells, offer no protection, and after an huge effort to get one running, they basically cause the game glitches to ramp up to 11, are useless on anything but perfectly flat road, and ruin at the first opportunity. My first car lasted all of about ten minutes! I gave up playing after this, and things like this are why players are leaving this game faster than people were trying to get off the Titanic. Looting is ruined because of dupers, base building is pointless because persistence is still broken and people can basically break in at will in mere minutes, vehicles are a broken gimmick that aren't worth the massive effort it takes to get working. The game engine is terrible, the net code a mess, game physics are broken, and the devs are focused on releasing different versions to get more cash in rather than trying to make the game run well. I bought an Xbox one X in the hope it would help the game run better, and it does, but it doesn't resolve the experience woes. So instead I went and rented a shadow pc in the hope I could get a better experience in the PC version, so I've bought the game twice now, only to get stung again by the fact the game refuses to run on a virtual machine, and the devs apparently DGAF about this either. So after buying a second xbox, another rental service, a new router for my home so shadow would run well, and a second copy of the game, I got kicked in the nuts even harder and have never player a single minute of the PC version. After all that I was done with this company. Another company that is actually a good developer needs to rip this game off and realease a good version so this one can finally be laid to rest and put its player base out of their misery.

I've stopped playing it because it's just not worth it, but I'll respond. I've had the same conversation several times about night times, even with a torch I can see anything beyond my characters immediate vicinity to the point you can barely see buildings across the width of a village street. Can't see zombies till they're on you and can't anything to help navigation, and the two times I've used a torch I've been taken out due to the fact you become a massive glowing target. Weapons. I find pistols and shotguns and that about it. The odd moisin yes but virtually no ammo. I did find player built encampment though, packed full of m4s and and aks, thousands of rounds of ammo, cammo, tents, you name it, all hard earned no doubt lol Now cars, I know where to look, but you first have to find a car, and most have now been moved off spawn points. You have to leave wheels on the cars as you can't practiacbly keep them on you, and walking from one town to another with a wheel in your hand is a very time intensive task that IR borderline daft. Regardless, my complaint wasn't the time it takes, its the fact the cars are useless on anything but flat road, which is silly in the 4x4, and driving them off road results in heavy damage, which again is daft, and to finish it off they cause so much glitchingnwhen you enter a town they're virtually undrivable anyway, and don't even offer any protection again animals and zombies even when all the doors are on. I wanted a car for mobility and storage so I could start to build a base and my friends and I could move around together more quickly. Defending the pointlessness of a game feature like base by saying don't do it then is pretty stupid, I can solve all the games problems by just not playing it at all, which I guess is exactly what I've done anyway but whatever. I wanted to build a base bacause I find it fun, I've no interested in shooting new spawns. The reality is you can't really do it at all because they get trashed faster than you can build them anyway. As for glitches, yes, everytime a zombie changes status from passive to agro, the game freezes for a second. If there's more than one it's longer and if they get close it renders all but mele weapons unusable. You think that's a well designed? Surviving Zombies is the main focus of the game, and pretty much everytime they've killed me is because I got hit off one I couldn't see, or it was so dark I couldn't see to try defend myself, or I got knocked out off the first hit despite full body armour, or a door wouldn't open or close due to poor performance under agro conditions, or I couldnt use my weapons because your character holsters the weapons when an object is close rendering it unusable. Maybe one in ten zombie deaths have been during the normal run of play where the game legit 'beat me'. Most console games are reasonably well polished these days, and those that aren't don't fail as hard as this game does. It's seemingly running an old game engine that hasn't ported well and isn't optimised very well on servers that don't work well. The dev team doesn't have any solutions to the things people are complaining about the most and the problems I have seem to get worse with every update. There have been fixes, like the binoculars and reloading/magazine problems and stuff like that, but the game fundamentals are broken, so much so I've stopped playing now. So that'll be that. I didn't intend to post again on here but I figured I'd get my thoughts off my chest and respond. I doubt I'll be back now, the pre release was poor but accepted as it was pre release. I gave up on that too and came back once the full release came about. The game generally runs a bit better but still has big problems which honestly, I have no faith in ever seeing them fixed. A car that can't drive up a very slight incline and then breaks when the game lags and it touches a road sign, well that's just not fun when it takes huge effort to aquire, especially when I only have about ten hours a week I can spend gaming. If you enjoy it, fair play, but if you think this is a well polished game that works well I'd be very surprised if your reflective of the mass opinion. Peace

This game now is in a worse state than when it first released. Night is too dark, so dark its unplayable even with lights. I spent a couple weeks getting a car together only to find they are prone to getting ruined super fast, can't drive up any slight hill, and lag like crazy. There's no chance of finding any weapons, bases are pointless as they take weeks to build and people can break into them in minutes anyway, the game still glitches like mad when zombies agro, I notice more bugs now than on first release and constant wipes make you wonder why you're even bothering, and now they're just shutting servers down. People should start a class action for refunds and give this game the kiss of death before bohemia finish it off anyway. Literally the worst development of any title I've ever seen on a console.

Well my experience is about to make me give up again now. There are two ways I die in this game, either a player kills me, which is fair enough, or the games bugs kill me. I got the car running, lag at 10mph had me driving along nicely, then frozen screen, then facing a wall with a knackered radiator. I slowed to 10mph to avoid that but it was in vain. Do I needed up on foot, a few moments later and a zombie I couldn't see or hear agro'd. I ran for shelter and as is typical the door wouldn't open as soon as the zombies have a status change, I turned to shoot and the bug where you can't shoot when a zombie is too close meant I was entirely defenceless, pinned against a door that wouldn't open and unable to use the meagre pickings of weapons I scraped together. One punch and I was unconscious, so no idea what all the helmet, armour and combat clothes actually do, nothing it seems. After that there's nothing to do other than listen to the zombies kick you to death. This has gone on too long now and I'm sick of fighting the worst physics and net optimisation I've ever seen in a game. It's no fun when you literally only die because the games glitches leave you helpless, and you can't find any gear unless you luck upon a dupers stash.

Ye I have those. Think it's fuel I need but I just can't find any. I did however come across a hidden camp, full of tents, chests and all kinds of equipment. Hundreds of mines, thousands of round of ammo, multiples of every gun all with full mags, just tons and tons of equipment. I got spotted half way through dumping it all but managed to run and hide in the bushes before logging off. I plan on trying to get back there and finishing the job off.

I've spent all day on it today and got almost nothing. Night time is not playable for me at all, even with a torch I can't see anything past my immediate character so I still can't move around. I don't see a building till I run into it, even with a torch on. Without a torch all I can see is the stamina bar and indicators, and the shovel handle, nothing else. I've run out of ammo and all I keep finding is the same useless ammo that doesn't fit my weapon. I've a pistol, scorpion, shot gun, and bolt action, and I'm down to the last 20 rounds for the rifle. I'm not even coming across duct tape anymore so struggling to keep my gear in good condition. You may be able to manage at night, but I can't on my screen and I'm not finding anything but clothes. I'm starting to get bored of the game again because Im getting nowhere and sooner or later the zombies will get me when I can't close a door or shoot because of the bad mechanics. All I'm doing is wondering around for what seems like no reason. I'm trying to get a car going, I've shifted my focus to that but it won't start. I've spent two days finding the wheels plugs and battery. I've filled the radiator with water and all items are pristine. Does it have to have doors and a hood before it will start up?
-
Ok, so here's my feedback on the current build of this game: - Night is now too dark to the point the game isnt playable at all without a torch, I can't even see my character, my screen is simply black which is plain stupid. You should be able to do something without a light. A torch does nothing to help navigation, all it does it light my character up a bit and that about it. - If a zombie gets close your weapon won't fire because you character registers the zombie as an obstical and your character pulls the gun up, again plain stupid. - I had two zombie hits damage all my gear today. Seems wrong to me when it was all in good condition. - When a group of zombies agro, doors seem almost impossible to open or close, seems like this needs fixing. - How about all these alpha bugs that are supposed to be addressed ready for the games full release get sorted before we try adding in new content and features? The only thing that the full release seems to have improved is lag and frame rates, which were sorely needed but far from the only big problems. - The duping is a clear issue, servers are devoid of loot now other than a few repeat bits of clothing nobody wants. Once looting becomes a non starter all you have is a battle royal game with no contracting circle where new players can join at will and the round never ends on a map so huge it takes hours to traverse. I'm not sure that's a good game. - The loot system in general needs a big overhaul IMO. Trying to find car parts makes server hopping mandatory and a 90 second counter doesn't stop hopping. Finding 3 batteries and nothing else in all the towns close to a vehicle is daft. Nobody is going to persist trying to find all the required parts on one map, I'm certainly not going to carry a wheel across this map for ten hours praying I don't get KOS'd at any moment. While the general game concept is very good and clearly popular, the execution leaves a lot to be desired. The devs need to concentrate on getting the game working well. Once that's done they can add all the content they want. Heck, get the game working well and I'll buy additional content. Currently 3 quarters of the survival element is just surviving the game bugs and broken mechanics, all the while trying to avoid the inevitable eventual one bullet death that has become the end to every character.

I think 3/1 ratio would be better but I don't actually mind the time even at two to one.
-
You're missing the point though. I've no real issue with the Torches, other than they only really light up your feet, and you still cant see much with them. It's the blanket black you get when it's off, literally just a black screen, that's not realistic makes the game unplayable. I like the night, it adds to the game, its just that it's unplayable. Even with a torch there's no way to work out where I am, still cant see anything unless I'm right over it, and I end up giving up as it leaves me with nothing to do. Even at dusk it's hard to see, the sky is dim and the ground just goes black. Nightime should be hard to see, not that there is absolute black so you can't see anything at all. Here's a screen shot https://ibb.co/t2vxNvf
-
Torches work. If you you step outside at night in the real world and it's exactly the same as putting on a blind fold, I think you need a visit to the opticians. Torches aren't safe to use for the most part, but even so, I've yet to find a 9v battery with my current character. I have a pistol with a torch which could work. In any case, I've been out on the hills on a half cloudy night without a particularly bright moon and can see just fine, this game is like someone has put their hands over your eyes, all I can see is jet black everywhere with a dimly lit character, and NOTHING else. That's just unplayable!
-
Now imagine someone updated your car so the headlights no longer gave off any light at all and you basically couldn't use the car at night, AT ALL. This sinking in yet?
-
I don't think you've been out at night if you think night time is roughly the same as putting a blindfold on. Clearly people are seeing different things. Unless I have a torch on all the time I cant see anything at all unless I'm immediately over it. Zombie vicars are effectively invisible to me. I like the night, how it was before was just right for me, couldn't see any real distance, still needed torches on occasion, but at least I could see my immediate vicinity, which now I just can't.
-
I've tried that. What it basically amounts to is I spawn at night, put the controller down and have to go do something else while I wait for sunrise. Not really why you buy a console, a game, and switch it on for. Seems logical right? Sure people wanted longer nights, I'm cool with that,l. A bit darker? Ye fine. Blanket black? Not so much. My screen is calibrated so isn't showroom glowing. The picture is adjusted to look natural and not make my eyes bleed during evening viewing. I've now has to switch to the brightest mode, and still I can see anything at all at night when outdoors. I've had zombies hitting me that are right next to me and I can't see them and have no way to know how to react. Unless I'm right next to a building I can't see them, so have no idea where to run, can't tell if I get stuck on something or not, and basically it's a death sentence. Night is simply unplayable, which is like owning a car you can only use when its daytime.
