You have to unbox the ammo by taking it into your hand, then coming out inventory screen and hold RT 5.56 is for the M4 to get magazine out of gun, put gun on floor (vicinity) and then highlight the magazine and press Y

I remember when I used to play on the PC using an axe or knife (or anything that wasn't a can opener) would cause you to spill the content of whatever you are opening. Unless I'm going mad, it doesn't seem to make any difference on the Xbox version, meaning as it stands the can opener is just a waste of inventory space?

the drills don't always work. Although mine have everytime I've done it. I think they are meant to be a hit and miss object so doesn't work 100% of the time meaning you need to craft another one.

took me about an hour to figure it out. but it's pretty simple once you do it once. My advice is don't do it out in the open as it draws a lot of attention I had 3 people try an sneak up on me on my 1st fire! I did a step by step guide in New player discussion bit on how to cook Oh you already commented on it haha

The way forward is chickens (and other animals). You just need a knife to skin it after which will give you 2 chicken breast which you can then cook with a fire. Much easier than scavaging food especially at the start

So many people saying the game is too hard, we need a map, the hunger dehydration rate is too much etc etc. if you need/want these things then dare I say you are playing the wrong game. This game is different to any other survival game I've played, it's meant to be hard! If you want an easy survival game go play PUBG or something that way you don't have to worry about starvation, disease or even zombies... I love this game even in its current state on the Xbox, as I know it will only get better. There is something about it that really gets your adrenaline going when you haven't seen another person for ages and suddenly you are confronted with someone in front of you, with no idea if they are friendly or if they have ammo in the gun in their hand.... You don't get that uncomfortable awkward feeling in any other game I've played where you have to decide to be friendly at the cost of your life or to be a barst*rd and just KoS. Don't get me wrong it's glitchy as hell at the moment but if the fundamentals of the game aren't to your liking I suggest you find another game.

I'm guessing you guys aren't playing the trial? there is no character saving on the trial play.

I always try to help people. Problem is the etiquette of meeting people. If you run up to someone with an axe or knife in hand you are likely to get shot. If you stand at distance then you are probably safe, well with me anyway. I am yet to shoot at someone who hasn't attacked or shot at me first. I always give new players food and water if I have it as well as weapons.

I agree. i havent even found it yet but even if I did I'd still use the map on my phone as I play so I can try and get my bearings. No cheats only winners.

I didn't say anything about PvE or PVP, it is all part and parcel of the game. I think as far as PvE goes it is hard to survive at the start but that's how it should be, the PVP aspect is also hard but enjoyable in my opinion as it's the unknown variable in it all

Right I really struggled with figuring this out so figured I'd write out a step by step guide for cooking, hopefully it will assist some people. 1. Create a fire place: To do this use an axe of some description on a tree. Aim at the tree and hold RT. This will cut it down after a few circle cycles. This will then produce some sticks and some wood logs on the floor. Take either a rag, bandage or bark into you hand. Whilst you have one of these items in you hand, place cursor over the sticks on the floor (or go into inventory and highlight the sticks in the vicinity and press B). You should be given the option to press RT to change recipe (make sure this says fireplace) or hold RT to craft. So hold RT and you will craft a fireplace. (To get rags use an axe/knife on any item of clothing. To get bark use a knife in you hand on a tree and press RT). You will now need to add fuel to the fire otherwise it will not burn for long. If you build the fireplace where the sticks and logs fall from cutting the tree I think they automatically go into the fuel. If not you have to pick up the logs and put into your hand then use the RB and RT buttons in the inventory screen to highlight the 'fuel section of the fireplace. Once you have highlighted it press B. This should add the logs to the fireplace. 2. Light your fire: To light your fire you need a box of matches or a hand drill kit. With matches just put in hand and aim at fireplace and press RT to make a hand drill kit, get some bark in your hand and highlight a stick (from the tree) in the vicinity or inventory. then ensure the right recipe is selected and hold RT. 3. Putting meat on a stick: This needs to be a stick from a BUSH! use an axe to get one of these and should drop a long branch. Put this stick in your hand and press B on any meat in your inventory. (to get meat kill animal and use a knife to skin it will drop meat). Cook the meat on a stick and enjoy. Hopefully this was all correct I did it from memory!

This is probably because you all went afk. It also happens when you server jump (I.e to loot same building on different servers) the lock is usually between 15 mins and an hour from experience.

ahhh I've been swearing at the computer for the last hour trying to get A bit of chicken on a stick that I had sharpened... that explains why they wouldn't combine! also I learnt that fires outside draw a lot of people to you! little sneaky burgers trying to crawl up behind me! so remember guys when cooking your meat keep an eye out for little backstabbers

Also I think one of the big issues is when micromanaging, it doesn't seem to show you what's highlighted. So take stacking bullets for example. You hold down A then have to count your up, down, left, right moves to the other bullets.
