When you call yourself a bandit, and all you do is kill other players... you're not a real bandit. A real bandit robs other players, and leaves them stranded with nothing. A real bandit takes hostages and trades them for gear/vehicles. A real bandit OWNS his victims, not just figuratively, but literally. So to all you REAL bandits out there, I salute you.

Me and a buddy were heading to a helicopter crash site when we saw another survivor by a building, maybe 70 meters away from the crash. At this point, me and my buddy knew it was kill or be killed. So we opened fire. I missed with my FAL, but my buddy hit him in the chest with his M4A1. The target ran behind the building. It had been maybe 20 seconds and he hadn't returned fire yet. At this point we were thinking he combat logged, but then all of a sudden he peeks around the corner BANG BANG BANG BANG. He began returning fire on our position. This lead on to be a 10 minute firefight. Point of the thread, me and my buddy finally had a chance to play the game like it should be played. No alt-f4, no combat log. So to the mystery man on US 665, I salute you. Good fight :) (We ended up getting killed by some guy that we assume heard the firefight. He came up behind us with his AKM and killed us both haha. Not sure what happened to the guy we were shooting at)

Maybe DayZ stands for Day Zero. Like it says when you freshly spawn.

Yeah it was pretty much the first real firefight I've gotten into. Every other time I engage someone I either kill them in the first hit, or they combat log. It was definitely a fun experience.

Not too long, probably like 9 days. I tend to be more of a balls-in type player. I could probably survive for a LONG time if I just stayed in the woods and never really attracted attention to myself. But whats the fun in that :)

(Guild Wars stylez) I'd pay for either of those, love the game so much Stuido development would be the best for the game, since most effort would be put into it there. But I think you should also take feedback from the community during the process of development. Kickstarter would definitely help, but I wouldn't rely on it to give you enough money to make this mod into the game it deserves to be.
