    mosin reload

No need to apologise! I did try pressing Y, it must be bugged sometimes for some players because it never worked for me sadly. I am glad it doesn't affect everyone though. Pressing Y would reload a round straight from out of my ammo in my inventory. If I dropped the ammo from my inventory it wouldn't reload anything into the chamber, even though it would still show in the bottom left of the screen I had 4 rounds loaded in the mag. All good, I have submitted a bug report to let the team know and hopefully it gets sorted. It isn't a huge game breaking issue really, just a small annoyance.

I get the authenticity factor, I certainly understand how a bolt action rifle works :) If I have 1 round in the chamber and 4 in the magazine, using the bolt action after firing should eject the spent round and ready the next round from the mag into the chamber. This is not happening, instead I am forced to load a new round from my inventory into the chamber after each shot. If I have no rounds in my inventory nothing will happen, the 4 rounds in the mag are inaccessible.

Thanks for the chance to win a code, will jump on twitter now :) Edit: Whoops, misread the time, seems I was too late!

    Closed Preview codes

These are closed preview codes, you won't be able to play the closed preview once the game comes out onto game preview, unless I am mistaken? Anyway, I guess I missed them all (due to my timezone), but was hoping to catch one for a mate who was interested in testing out the game. No matter, won't be long now until it is released on game preview!

    DayZ Price?

Why come in here just to whine about the game? It must get tiring. If you don't want to purchase it then don't, no need to keep complaining. There are plenty of people who are quite happy to pay the fair and reasonable price to play the game as is, and look forward to the game getting better and better as time goes on. I bought the game on PC, and will buy the game on Xbox, because I am willing to support the game. I am looking forward to playing it as I am sure many people are. This thread was simply someone asking how much the game would cost, the question was answered, thanks for the info. If the game isn't for you, just get over it and move on.

    mosin reload

For me, I had to keep reloading each bullet individually. Press Y, load first round, press Y again load second round etc. Until 5 rounds are loaded. Might be a bug, it should probably load to full from one button press really. Edit: Actually, I have to correct myself. I could load 5 rounds in but can only shoot 1. Each time after I shoot I have to load another in the chamber, from my inventory. The one's already loaded in the gun are just stuck there now.

    Inventory Management, please explain

Could we please get clarification on how the inventory is supposed to work on Xbox? I have seen a few different speculations, but I am just under the impression the inventory is bugged at the moment. I thought that the number we see in the top right corner of a container (such as "Improvised Courier Backpack" when empty displays 0/24) is directly relative to how much it can hold. I have been referring to this as "Capacity". All items have a number in the top right of their icon (such as "PET Water bottle" displays 8). I have been referring to this as "Size". So, the way I thought the inventory worked, was that the total "size" number of all the items in the container can not exceed the containers "capacity" number. Is this correct? If so, then the inventory is bugged at the moment, as I suspected. That is fine, and I'm sure it will be fixed in time, but if I am missing something and there is no inventory bug I would really like to know how it actually works. It would be very much appreciated if someone who knows more could please explain the way the inventory is intended to work. Thanks in advance.

    Inventory Management, please explain

G'Day Craig, Inventory management can be buggy at times, but I can tell you what should work for reloading a mag at least. To refill a magazine, you want to put in your hands, then hover your cursor over the ammo and press B to combine. You should then push RT to reload. As far as adding items to a fire, I cant say for sure because I haven't personally used those features. I would hazard a guess and suggest trying to use the "Micromanagement" button. Hold A on the item you want to move, then use the bumper buttons to move to the fire, then release the A button. Hope that helps, let me know if it works please!

What sort of survivor are you?

So, I'm super excited to be able to play DayZ on Xbox, but am currently waiting for servers to come back online and ended up here. I was wondering; What sort of survivor are you gonna be? Are you gonna be a lone wolf, "shoot first, ask questions later" kinda person? Maybe run with some friends as a ruthless bandit gang, using all manner of trickery to rob others of their supplies? How many are of the inclination to try and make friends, find other people to group with, safety in numbers and all that? So, fellow Xbox players, how do you plan on surviving in Chernarus?

    Inventory Management, please explain

Will do, same goes :) It may even be a good idea to start a list of how many slots each container has, but I would imagine that if what we have figured out is the actual way inventory management works on the console version we will eventually see a visual indicator for slots in-game. Even something simple like an empty square outline where an item could go would be helpful, and wouldn't clutter up the inventory screen.

    Inventory Management, please explain

Ah, I think I follow you. So if I understand correctly, the backpack capacity can only be reached by utilising the slots each backpack has with smaller containers. So, rather than having rags and blood packs loose in separate slots in a backpack, I am better off putting them all in a first aid kit container, and only taking up a single backpack slot. The size of each item in the first aid kit, plus the size of the first aid kit itself, still needs to be under the capacity limit of the backpack, but I would only be taking up one slot with all those items. This makes perfect sense actually, thankyou for taking the time to explain it The only confusing part is where in the game it displays the number of slots each container has, if it does at all?

    XBOX Private Hives

I think adding Private servers available for renting would be a good way to bring in some extra funding. Other games rent private servers to users, and if done correctly it is a great feature.
  13. It is likely a lag issue, which is a normal occurence on new mmo games on xbox. They have had lots of time to work on the PC, but these server connection things are different on xbox. Many games have the same issues, even AAA full release games. I agree it needs fixing, but I am not surprised that these types of problems arise in closed testing, or even in game preview. Look at the xbox game preview release of PUBG for a prime example. The best way to make the developers aware and to get them addressed is to file a bug report on the site I linked in my previous post.

    Compass on Xbox

Hold Right stick button to switch between first and third person camera.
  15. I have had the same issues with zombies. Best place to report these bugs is here. You can see here other people have been having the same issue, and have already submitted it, but definitely add your comments and video evidence if you have experienced the same thing.

    Game doesn't launch

Easiest workaround for this is to sign out of your profile, and start the game with no profile signed in. When you are past the loading screen, it will ask you to sign in, and you can now sign in with your main profile and continue playing.

Patch notes would be greatly appreciated. I personally like to see what changes have been made in each update, no matter how minor.

What sort of survivor are you?

So I have been running solo, and am enjoying it. I have managed to keep out of sight of other players, and have been travelling mainly in the woods. I scope out a town, village, or group of houses, and move in for looting when I am satisfied it is clear. I am slowly building up useful items, but with how the inventory is on Xbox at the moment I can't really carry much with me, despite having found a big ol' hiking backpack. I have been preparing for each trip between built up areas by making sure I have plenty of food and water for the trip, and have only had to fire a gun a couple of times so I am well stocked with ammo. I have got myself a good melee weapon that I use when dealing with zombies, but generally they haven't been too much of an issue. I started in the East, and have been slowly working my way to the North West. I am hoping to find a compass or a map of some sort, but for now I just use the road signs and road side maps to help me get my bearings and keep me heading in the right direction. I am actually pretty surprised how big the map is, but going carefully and slowly and making notes of land marks has helped me start to get familiar with the areas I am traveling through. Loving the game so far, can't wait for the inventory issues on console to be fixed up. I am also really looking forward to grouping up with friends when it comes out to game preview, but playing solo definitely has it's perks and advantages. Whatever your playstyle, there is never a dull moment in Chernarus!

    inventory space

I am still figuring this out, but what I think is that each item takes up a specific amount of slots, and this number is found in the top right corner of the item icon. Say you have 50 slot backpack, and it is empty. If you pick up a water bottle, that takes 8 slots. A can of drink takes 2 slots. A box of matches takes 1 slot. Each item is different, and the total of all your items can not exceed the container capacity. However, I am not sure what else affects this, like maybe weight, or if there are bugs preventing it working properly, because I have filled a 100 slot backpack to 19 and can not put anymore in it. Edit: I have been thinking about it, and I reckon the system could be similar to on PC. The only problem is that it doesn't let us arrange things in the inventory grid, and isn't doing it automatically. There may be a way to arrange stuff that I haven't figured out yet, and will update here if I figure it out.

    Inventory Problems

From the little I have played so far, (about 30-40 minutes only) I found that to do most things you have to put them in your hands first, then combine them with the appropriate item. For example, to open a can I would do the following; Open the inventory screen. Press A on the can to put it in my hands. Press B on the can opener to combine. Exit the inventory. Press RT to use the combined items together (can opener and can). It is the same for loading a mag with bullets and a mag into a gun. Although, I think some things work automatically. For instance, if you have a gun in your hands, and a loaded mag in your inventory, you can press LT to raise your gun, then press Y to reload the mag into the gun. I am still working things out, but hopefully this helps :)

    Game Chat

Disabling party chat wouldn't be the worst thing honestly. I could take it or leave it though. It doesn't take all that long to swap from party to game chat really. I think on Xbox that emotes and hand gestures will be the primary way people will meet and greet each other to begin with. Having said that, if the opportunity arises and you are of the inclination, definitely utilise game chat! I know I will be :)

Can't find or connect to servers

Just a huge amount of traffic I imagine. I could only find one server to begin with, and kept getting a "Disconnected from host" error whilst in the queue. I gave up, went and played something else for a bit. When I came back a couple of hours later I was able to get into a server and play for a little while. It will improve over time, just be patient and keep in mind we are playing a closed preview with the sole purpose of testing the game for just these types of issues. Keep the feedback coming, and be sure to post a report here for any bugs and issues that you find :)

This is incredibly helpful, and I will be sure to apply these lessons in game! Thankyou so much for taking the time to write all this out :)
