    What you love (positive only)

I just love how well the whole concept of zombie survival works with Chernarus and the realistic gameplay of Arma 2.

    Please keep no-weapon spawns

I live in the UK and NOBODY I know has a gun. Absolutely noone. If a disease suddenly wiped everyone out in my city except me, I would probably have to search thousands of houses before finding a firearm + ammo. It just seems way too convenient that every player starts out with a gun + ammo. It's much more plausible that people should start out with either nothing at all or only the very basics. And besides, the whole point of this mod is that the player should have to FIND things in order to survive. The argument that a survivor would already be equipped with everything they need to survive is therefore rather irrelevant.
  3. This is why rare weapons are overrated. Ordinary weapons are lethal enough and are much more practical because ammo is so common for them.

    CB radio/mobile phone item

Already suggested a few times, but yeah, I think it's a good idea.

    Please keep no-weapon spawns

Well if it were upto me, everyone would start with nothing. Starting with a flashlight and painkillers is perhaps a bit too convenient for the player, but nowhere near as convenient as everyone starting with a pistol and ammo. :-/

    Does anyone get chills..

The zombies in DayZ really don't scare me at all; even at night. Their visual appearance, the way they move around, and the way they sound just doesn't seem horrific at all to me. Then again, that isn't really a big issue. The game is primarily about survival, not horror.

    Please keep no-weapon spawns

I agree. Getting rid of the starter pistol is a big improvement. As posted in another thread: - Having a starter pistol was far too convenient - Getting rid of it makes survival more brutal and challenging at the start - It makes you care more about dying and going back to square one - It discourages PvP killing along the coast and instead encourages cooperation - It also shifts the emphasis away from PvP encounters back onto zombies. Zombies simply weren't a danger at all before - In terms of realism, it makes a lot more sense
  8. As i've said before, I think they should keep the 24hr night/day cycle, but make it random for each server instead of matching it to the server's location. In fact, some servers seem to be doing this already.
  9. Compared to most games these days, it's pretty hardcore. But I agree - it's fairly easy once you have a basic idea of what you're doing... and certain aspects of the game start to feel far too convenient for the player as far as survival is concerned. Unfortunately, with all the mainstream attention this mod is getting, and all the subsequent moaning about how "tough" it is, I wouldn't be surprised to see it get even easier.
  10. Other players should always be a concern, and they still are. Just not to the extent that the whole game turns into one big open world PvP deathmatch experience with loot, and zombies you can just ignore. Sorry, I disagree. It makes much more sense for survivors to have nothing but a few bare essentials and to then have to go looking for a gun, than to all be carrying a gun right from the beginning.

Too hard trying to find your friends

It's really not hard at all if you're using an external map. Just find the nearest town, look at a signpost, and work out where you are on the map. The more you play the game, the less you'll even need to look at a map.
  12. Stop whining. Bought this game today.

Well said. The way some people complain about this mod, you'd think they were paying customers moaning about a finished product.

    REVERT

The changes are an improvement. Stop whining because survival is actually a challenge now. :-/ This game isn't about PvP deathmatching, nor is it about killing zombies at leisure; it's about survival. The changes work towards that goal.

    DELETED BY USER

Or - just play the game how it's supposed to be played and learn how to avoid zombies until you can find a weapon, then try your hardest to survive so you don't have to go back to square one.

    People don't wanna kill zombies?

Not killing zombies at all should be a viable option for some. This is, after all, a game of survival... not a game about running around killing zombie hordes. I agree about the PvP problem though. Certainly before version 1.7.1 it was too easy to simply go around treating this like a PvP deathmatch game without even giving zombies much thought. Making an effort to avoid them in order to survive is one thing, but ignoring them with ease and going after players is another...
  17. Turin (DayZ)

Not sure why everyone is complaining...

People are always bound to complain when the game becomes more hardcore or challenging. I just hope Rocket has the sense to ignore all the whining and do what he thinks is best for the game.

    Feedback 1.7.1.4

I agree on most points, except with the no starter pistol listed as a con. I think it's a great improvement.

    Zombie Loot

I think it's fine the way it is. If they give zombies too much loot or start putting rarer, more valuable loot on them, it'll make the game too much about horde killing when it should be about survival.
  20. If you understand this is alpha, then what's the problem? There are going to be some updates that improve things, and others that mess things up, make things worse, or cause bugs. Learn to take the bad with the good or just wait until there's a more stable and polished version of the mod.

    Minimal Survival Kits

Learn to avoid zombies. Personally, I think it makes perfect sense for them to be able to catch upto you eventually if you just run in a straight line and don't do anything to try and evade them (or don't do enough to avoid them to begin with)
  22. Turin (DayZ)

    The Wild World?

Someone suggested the idea of adding infected dogs to the woodlands and wilderness. I think it would be a good addition, as long as they're not too common. They should be common enough to make you a bit cautious and paranoid when travelling through the wilderness... but not so common that you can't run for 5 minutes without something attacking you.
  23. It's not so much the act of camping that's the problem by itself. It's when people camp in one location, then spawn in that same location over and over again each time they join a new server. Many even deliberately hop between servers with the intention of finding loot. If someone deliberately camps inside the NW airfield barracks so whenever they join another server they can gather more loot or catch other players legitimately looting the building by surprise in order to steal their loot, how is that not an exploit?
