It's probably because of your internet connection. Try joining a server closer to your location. -
The mod is still in its Alpha stage. A lot of things are being tested and tweaked with. I doubt it'll ever be 100% great for everyone.

I've also been having the same issue. Just give it a while and let it load. It might take longer on servers with higher populations of players.

If you're still interested in finding a server then feel free to join the TS server I'm on. Just PM me for details. We have around 10 members so far and at least 4-5 are active at any given time during the evenings here in the U.S.

Have you set your launch options to "no splash"? -
Can't be so harsh on a mod that is in Alpha. Although I agree with a lot of the things you say, I think you're being a little too critical of what is available at this point. I know absolutely nothing about coding but I'm sure it isn't an easy thing to do, and it is probably something that takes quite a long time to truly perfect it flawlessly.

Try simply restarting your computer after you download all the files again. Have you verified the local files in the properties? Doing these two things usually works for me, so give it a shot. -
I've been having the same issue from time to time. It's been happening more recently though which is a pain because I rarely get to play now. Honestly, if you haven't already, give it a good 10-15 minutes to load and see if it ends up connecting. That has been working for me (though not on all servers) with limited success.

There are different pin layouts for different cables. You're probably having trouble because the cable you bought doesn't have the right pins. Check out this page and compare the pins to your monitor and desktop. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

I agree. I love the realism of DayZ and the fact that death is permanent. It's definitely not for everyone, especially newer gamers who are used to 10-second respawns like in CoD or something similar to that. Admittedly, I raged a lot at first, but you learn to love the unpredictability and the consequences of your actions. -

I'd like to have the major bugs fixed before we even consider expanding. I haven't even traveled through all of Chernarus yet, so please, let's not rush into this! :P

I think people put themselves in the mindset of "not getting attached" to their gear so that when they do eventually die (and you will die), they do not become extremely butthurt. When I first started playing I would quit playing DayZ for a number of hours after dying with what I thought was good gear at the time. As you progress through the game and realize that you are not invincible, you do come to terms that you cannot get angry at this game because the same thing will keep happening, and you'll just keep coming back for more.

I wouldn't mind seeing different servers dedicated to a number of different game modes. Maybe set up some RPG servers, some DM servers etc. Still, I understand that the mod is in its relatively early days so I completely get that there is no rush to do anything like that. I would like the mod to be at its very best before anything like that is even considered. Let's just enjoy the madness for now. -
Alright it's no problem. If you ever want to join up with us though I'll PM you the server info and you can come on whenever. We try to play everyday in the evenings.

I don't recall being able to communicate in any way once your player is knocked out. It must be a strange glitch or something. Really wouldn't be surprised considering how buggy the game is at this point. -
Sucks, man. A friend and I were playing not too long ago and a hacker in a helicopter started flying over Elektro. Somehow he got the server to start playing some epic rock music as he burned the whole city down. It was interesting to watch from the hills.

Having played DayZ for a while now, I have definitely noticed that the number of people I shoot is become less and less. At this point in the game I try to help out whenever I can. Just the other night me and a couple friends fixed up a large civilian truck and started giving rides to people. Don't get me wrong though, I will still shoot other players, but only if they shoot first.
