Here's the problem: A lot of PKing in game is not realistic. I like the idea of banditry - attacking other players to take their stuff when you actually need it (although I never do because I hardly ever need anything), but attacking when you don't need their things, or when you're likely to get hurt yourself isn't being a bandit, it's just being a retarded maniac. There are two root causes for this problem. First, unrealistic game mechanics. None of the reasons people don't attack other people IRL (risk, morals, bad rep., etc) are represented in game. Second, and more important, is boredom. Rocket claims that this is zombie apocalypse as it would unfold. In my opinion, the actual experience is more like "this is zombie apocalypse as it would unfold if all survivors were replaced by respawning shooter fans, given guns, and nothing to do except loot and shoot each other". --------- So what do we do in response to this unrealistic behavior? Apart from bitching on the forums and asking for new gameplay mechanics - behave unrealistically ourselves, of course. Unlike real life, there is no reason to actually care about being killed: All of the essential equipment is easily replaceable. There is no feeling of defeat as you weren't playing the same game - you're playing a survival sim and the other guy thinks he's playing a weird FPS. Someone kicking your chessboard doesn't mean you lost the chess game, you know. You get to have fun looting again! Honestly, after you get a few basic things there is not that much to do except help other people - zombies are not much of a threat if you don't do something stupid, and getting bigger&better assault rifles is sort of unnecessary. ---------- So, just play the game whichever way you want, and every time you get randomly sniped thank the maniac - after all, he adds variety to the gameworld, and does a largely thankless job of being bored on a roof with a sniper instead of playing DayZ, or one of the shooters he's used to. Best wishes, Daniel.
