I agree with the fact that there are way to many servers not updating and hanging back at 1.7.0 and earlier. The point of an Alpha is to determine the bugs and issues that arise from new code, or code fixes to see what does and dosn't work. Allowing server operators to be 3 to 4 versions behind is not helping the mod move forward. I also do understand that over this weekend in particular it has been a bit difficult for a server operator to be able to keep up with the last few hotfixes. Now that the beta is required for the new build there is no reason any server should not be running the Beta, and there are far to many servers that say (v1.?.?/Beta ?????) and they in fact are not running the Beta at all. Top that off with absolutely no way, other than a falsely advertised DayZ version in the name of the server, for players to determine what version of the DayZ mod the server is running. Which in turn leads to spending 30-40 min finding a server that can be played on with the current DayZ version. Leading to more people flooding the forums instead of play testing. I would love to see the Dev team be able to take care of this situation and force servers that do not want to run the Beta to at least use the last build compatible for a non beta server and nothing lower while at the same time forcing any servers that run the beta to continue to stay up to date with the latest DayZ code and at the very least Beta 93825. Maybe only allow servers to run 93825 and nothing newer until it is required for DayZ to operate properly. Obviously there should be a window for server operators to have after a DayZ update or a Beta Update, but that window should not be more than 24-48 hours. If that is not enough time for a server operator to update their sever then it is fairly obvious that that server operator is not in it to help produce a viable mod, but in it to play a mod only, which is not what the mod needs now anyway. And With this last bit of Hotfixes I would think consideration of the speedy updates would come into play before taking action on servers for wrong versions. If the Dev team is not policing those servers then there is no real stable level ground to test the code on as so many players and servers are not running the same versions. How are we as testers supposed to be able to provide any viable feedback. I don't pretend to know how the server files are dispersed, but if server owners are having trouble getting their servers properly updated then they may want to post in the Server section asking for help from other server operators that may be able to provide input. Also been getting the feel of the mod over the last 2.5-3 weeks and had to recreate my account from the website restore last week. So this is my first post. Not that I am new to the forums I have been just lurking and reading until now. Also @DayZ Devs Thanks for all your hard work and trying to keep up with the insanity. And to those players having problems installing the mod and the Beta, SixUpdater is the way to go. TL;DR - Why are you here then?
