I'll try and post what I got here in a bit sorry been trying to keep up with server hanging. -
LOL that sucks. I have not really had much of a problem getting around the map at night or during the day. I have always played in the woods, since I was young, and was also a BoyScout which may be part of it. But using landmarks and as Splatterpope said using Alt to look around and not changing your direction when traveling can help. I always pick a tree or hill or mountain in the distance the direction I want to travel then I change my landmark once I reach my previous destination. In the dark generally you can see the tree tops, so I usually just pick the tallest one in the direction I want to go then change trees when I get there.

Personally glad it is gone if that is the case. I would love to see all NV/TI equipment gone, seems like way to big of an upper hand to any player let alone a group of players with multiple NV/TI, makes moving at night certain death for anyone without. For those that have them guaranteed many kills with little to no effort, especially when they are duped. As it is an Alpha removing and adding things is going to be the case until Beta or later. If it is a glitch then bummer, because I still gotta be that paranoid over it being back later on. Something in the changelog would be nice if it was in fact removed. Or at least a Dev statement about it. -

Might be locking to make sure everything is running correctly or maybe they are having problems and do not want players having to be repeatedly disconnected. -

Yeah getting this as well. I love the messages and the shutdown feature. It allows to inform players that so they have time to find a good log out position before the server goes down. I had not narrowed it down to BEC yet but that makes sense. Since I did not have it running the 1 time I was able to get into the server and spawn in. Maybe it is not BEC I just had it happen without BEC running just took a little longer than the previous times. -

If it seems like the scheduler just is not working at all make sure you added it to the BEC config file Scheduler = scheduler.xml scheduler.xml goes in the same place as the rest of the config .xml files. -

Look into BEC for Battleye as Caspar said, it has all the features you want. Although you may need to see if Villayer can add it as a service with a dependency on arma2oaserver.exe or add it to the schedule script to start after arma2oaserver.exe is visible to the game browser. I am not sure how Villayer handles rotating server restarts. -

I love the map Max! It is, IMO, the best one out there. DL'd to my PC so I don't have to use a web integrated map, and I prefer how each building is colored not just weird marks covering half of 2 buildings and all of the actual loot building or a ton of little dots that overlap at certain zoom values. -

Sorry I failed to mention the ports. Good catch stice BEPath is set in the command line options I offered a link to the wiki where it is explained. Server 1 -BEpath=c:\yourServerDirectory\cfgDayZ\Battleye Server 2 -BEpath=c:\yourServerDirectory\cfgDayZ\Battleye2 You will need to copy your first Battleye folder and paste it next to the original and rename it to something worthwhile. You could also just copy and paste the cfgDayZ folder and paste it next to the original rename it and modify your commandline for the second server to the correct paths. -

Do you double check areas that you went thru 5 - 10 minutes prior? I have noticed that upon server restarts that most loot requires a player to have been thru the area. Not sure this is how it works, but when I search several buildings and end up with mostly trash loot, I then turn around and head back thru all the areas I was just at and new loot has spawned. Similar to how if you drive a vehicle into a town there are no infected for about 1 minute before I am surrounded by infected. As I said I am not sure if this is intended or if it is a bug, since it seems as loot should be spawning prior to a player entering an area, if it needs new loot. Another thing I have done is to empty loot piles of all loot including trash loot and move it out of a building to cause the Mod to realize that there is no loot in a loot pile. So basically if you are the first player/players to enter an area that has not seen another player since server restart, more than likely you are not going to find much good loot. Over the last 2 days I have died and respawned many times and every time I was able to get everything I needed to go head into the wilderness and live off the land. Stupidly I choose to help other newcomers to the game in my community, and end up dying trying to get others all decked out. -
First I will say I am glad that a server that was not running Battleye was forced to be shutdown. Second I do not understand how HFB servers is allowed to host more than 2 servers on any single IP or Box with the recommended minimum specs being so high. 100MBit pipe with 2 servers means 50MBit each if they are both full and using bandwidth. Add however many more servers are running on that same box/IP keep breaking down the performance. I'd like to know how many servers would have been affected by blacklisting the Seattle 35 server? Third the fact that HFB went and modified their ToS after this went public to cover their buts is absurd. Yeah fix your ToS so that it is accurate, but don't do it in the middle of a shit storm, it just makes you look bad. Finally I will add that anyone renting a DayZ server thru a Third Party(A "Company" that is renting from another company to rent to you) should really go and look at the pricing on renting a box/vps for your self. we pay $30 more per month to have complete unrestricted access to our server. And no other servers are running off our hardware, unless we setup another server. I almost just do not even want to post this, but I am baffled that this situation was even able to occur at all with the amount of restrictions put in place to host a server in the first place. Grandfathered in or Buds with the Devs does not matter, DO IT RIGHT OR DON'T DO IT AT ALL!

There is also an all new ticket system in place for all DayZ server operators to be able to get assistance. If you are not going to use the new ticket system what is the point of them even adding it. You can set an urgency on your ticket as to what you feel the urgency is. About editing the mission file, I am pretty sure that twice, in this thread alone not to mention all the other threads, it was mentioned NOT to edit your mission file it is NOT allowed. Chat channels are intended to be off except Direct, There is no need to communicate with anyone in-game if they are further away than Direct Communication allows. If you have community members or regular players that you want to be able to always communicate with get those players in your TS3/Vent/Mumble/Steam Chat. Quit asking for things just because others are not following the rules layed out for the project DayZ. -
vehicles not spawning anymore?

I have had a server since the day the new support system rolled out. I have been wondering the same things as all of you, mostly due to my server being first setup during the DDoS attacks the Master DB was getting. Tonight though all my worries that vehicles were never going to spawn went away. I found the Bus in Cherno and repaired the 3 wheels, repaired the engine, and gathered up 2 Jerry cans to juice her up. So my suggestion to anyone else running a fairly new server, or even an older server, to maybe give it a little more time and see if a vehicle happens to pop up. There is also a sweet new support ticket system in place to address your server woes, if you feel there is still a problem and need to do something to fix it. -
Try broadening your search to not be DayZ specific, but instead use Arma 2 or Arma 2 OA or Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead since the games server files are in fact for Arma 2:OA not DayZ Bohemia's Official wiki On Arma Dedicated server most pages for arma content are updated to include up to current Arma 2:OA Beta. http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/ArmA:_Dedicated_Server

Everything can be the same except for your -mission file as stated by Xandrah above you would need to apply for a new instanceID. -server.bat so that you can change the -BEPath [http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BattlEye#The_-bepath_location] and server*****.cfg Modified in the .bat file -battleye needs to have its own instance per server. -server*****.cfg your name and mission file would need to be different. -
Quick clarification on chemlight visibility

The chemlights have a radius as far as I can tell. I can't say that my chemlight specifically was a cause of agro, but it seems like it was harder to stay concealed. Keeping the infected outside the range of the chemlight is a fairly good practice. Keep your volume up and listen for them growls. If your comfortable enough to venture carrying a chemlight at night where you are at, then having some flares to toss for infected distractions can come in handy to add extra light and keep them away from where you want to go. -
Repeatedly kicked for high Ping?

What was anyone thinking? Being 2 seconds behind everything and making the rest of the server lag should be ok. We might as well allow players to be 5 seconds behind also. 500ms Ping Limit ROFL! Ping Limit of 220 is being generous. Any game server/client dealing with latent connections beyond the scope of its ability to interpolate is going to see poor performance for all players connected to the server. Usually worse for the players connecting with a good ping, < 80, and not as noticeable for those connecting with the 150+. I like a 150 ping Limit but have raised mine just to deal with some players lag spikes. Once the server has been up for a while and gets popular to nearby connections, < 150, then I will set it back to 150 again. -

Are you using the .bat file? I had this occur, and I believe I went thru and wrapped my command line options that require an input value in quotes. Why it worked I am not sure, usually wrapping in quotes is only needed when there are spaces in a command line option that requires an input value. The server is on a Server 2003 x64. "-mod=EXPANSION\beta;EXPANSION\beta\Expansion;EXPANSION;ca;@dayz;@hive" "-ip=XX.XXX.XX.XX" "-port=2302" "-profiles=cfgdayz" "-config=cfgdayz\server_XXX.cfg" "-cfg=cfgdayz\arma2.cfg" "-name=cfgdayz" "-world=Chernarus" "-cpuCount=1" "-exThreads=1" -noSound I also had it occur while Hive was getting some maintenance over the last couple days, and as Dante-shawn metioned I had a hung arma2oaserver.exe in taskmanager. -

This is really only going to be helpful if you are having issues with the my Documents Arma 2 and Arma 2 Other Profiles folders. Run Arma2:CO as admin at least once to ensure that all your registry keys get created. Could be causing the game engine not to be able to find where it is supposed to be placing your profile info. If you have the Steam version then run Steam as admin and then run Arma2 once and Arma 2 OA once then to ensure Combined Operations is correct launch it once. Not sure about reatil and CO whether or not you have to run Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA seperately or if launching as CO works. After running the game as admin at least the first time you should not have to do it again. -
Looking forward to this patch! Can't wait to test this out. * [FIXED] Infected hear perfectly through objects (noise reduced by 50% through an object) Hadn't had a chance to notice yet, spent my time toying with zombies mostly. * [FIXED] Animal bodies despawn way too fast (now despawn automatically after 2 minutes) Have not experienced this, but I bet a lot of other players are gonna be happy. A lot of players would probably rather have a fix for the debug forest earlier rather than wait until Monday to be able to play again. * [FIXED] Corrupted update data causes people to spawn in debug forest (now will not save corrupted position data) These 3 should be awesome I love better FPS and performance overall, I mean who dosn't, I have had a few bad instances that seemed to stop after about a 15 minute period. * [FIXED] States where animal might stop walking around (now should walk around more) * [FIXED] Animal AI routines consuming large amounts of FPS (now in line with Infected AI routines, reduced FPS usage) * [NEW] Player Syncing system replaced (increased performance and ammo quantity tracking) ? * [FIXED] Error reports are almost invisible (has now been fixed) Thanks for all the work Dev Team.
