After loot has been sitting there for a while (unsure how long, couple hours maybe), it will despawn, and new loot will take its place about 10 minutes after a new player approaches. Or, as has been said, you can take everything out of the piles and leave and come back later and new loot will be there.

This vague thread will probably be moved, but in the meantime, I will hop in and discuss. Alot of people are saying that WarZ is just some concept art fantasy or whatever. After reading what I could find about the game, I think what it actually is, is a half-baked MMO with equally half-baked combat and enemy design (this seems to be a hard prerequisite for MMOs) that decided that It wanted to be like Day Z and cater to its audience. They probably do already have a prototype to mess around with (hence the screenshots), but I bet that it is not a real FPS engine. It probably plays like an MMO, which dooms it if that is the case in my opinion.

Just to make things clear - weapons nerf is not a DayZ patch.
Bad Science replied to davidecibel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For some reason, Bohemia still thinks that Arma is more important than Day Z, don't ask me why, but for some reason they do. They may not realize or care that their new patch unintentionally changed some of the custom damage settings for Day Z weapons. I do know that the Day Z dev team is working their asses off testing and fixing the new Day Z patch, hopefully they have the time to fix this problem while they are at it. Its important to remember that if it didn't come from an actual Day Z update, it may not be part of the Day Z plan. -
One of the most startling/shocking moments of my DayZ career
Bad Science replied to TFCxAddict's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The guy just logged in man, would you prefer he shoot you in the back if it was you? Really man, you have to login to play, and it is completely unfair to the guy you log in behind, he might be the best and most careful player in all of Day Z, and YOU cheated by logging in behind him and killing him. I think that aborting is the honorable thing to do in this scenario, better than killing another player who was in all probability being very careful and playing just as he should. I also think that logging off in loot spots is kind of a bad idea and also borders on exploitation, but sometimes you do not get to choose. Servers drop players at random, power goes out etc. Thats the problem with "artificial persistence" (with other such fun side effects as server hopping, combat disconnects etc.) The guy deserves honorable recognition for not being a tool. -

Bad Science replied to davidecibel's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its like nobody read the OP, kind of par for the course in this forum. This is clearly a lopsided and unintentional change. Obviously guys, come on now. I suppose it does make things more interesting for the time being, but you can't seriously think this was on purpose, right? Some of the weapons that are affected by this are some of the most common, but if it was a legitimate weapons rebalance it would have been across all weapons and types rather than just certain random weapons. Like the winchester for example, if you were nerfing civilian weapons against zombies you would start there. Use your heads gentlemen. -
I have a tent.........and its gone.
Bad Science replied to shazbot04's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If you cant find a tent that is probably because its a rare drop. I have played many long lives where I never found one. There is no limit to how many tents can be placed on a server. I do not use them as they are unreliable and unnecessary. -
Police cars and double barreled railguns. LOL. Last week it was invincible axe murderers. The teleporting and spawning naval warships never gets old though huh?

Well I just uninstall this POS
Bad Science replied to Lemonto's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
He does not sound stupid at all, the understocked buffet analogy is exactly dead on. The rest of the game IS underveloped, as any casual observer can see. You are the one who sounds stupid here. I am not going to do it, but someone should jump in right here and tell you "Its alpha dude". -
Favourite vehicle in DayZ?
Bad Science replied to Mays (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Interesting criteria you have there. That is actually terrible weapon storage, even the hatchback holds 10 guns + gear. My favorite group vehicle is the UAZ 4x4. Up to 7 passengers and plenty of gear storage/offroad capability. By myself, I prefer on foot or maybe a bicycle or dirtbike. Having a car to constantly fuel and repair is a liability when playing solo. The boats WOULD be the coolest if they worked properly and didn't suck so bad. -
I don't understand all the cat avatars but that one is pretty funny. ^^

I have caught many people doing this as I am about to enter a stand, it scares the shit out of me and results in the hopper getting shot on principle.
-
As long as zombies are spawning and guarding the loot, and players could run up or log in and catch you at any moment, then there is no need to alter the loot tables as it seems that looting is functioning as intended. You can choose to play on whatever server you want, some people prefer a more desolate and empty game, some want constant action (Full 80 man servers etc.), some like to play at night, some people just want to play with friends and don't care about the server capacity. Farming and hopping is a completely different issue that gets mixed in here.

The VSS is one of my favorite guns in several games, and I also agree with the above post, you would be much more likely to find the VSS in a soviet bloc country than some of the NATO weapons. Add this gun, would be awesome.

what exactly is end game in dayz?
Bad Science replied to Justin619's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The game is still incomplete, and there really should (and will be) additional features and challenges for players. Sandbox and simulator do not mean "devoid of content". The quality and replayability of a sandbox game is measured in how much you can do with it, and the more stuff there is to do the better the game is. If you really think that Day Z is currently all it can or needs to be, I am afraid you are mistaken and will find that most contributing to this forum do not share that viewpoint. Furthermore, you are an ass for characterizing and insulting people you do not know or understand based on a single post. Good day sir. -
You can guarantee nothing, this is pure speculation. As the OP has demonstrated, the game is most certainly not a deathmatch. He did not kill and he still "won" the game (which means not getting killed at the moment in Day Z).

For God's sake, SAY SOMETHING!
Bad Science replied to Rich (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Simply making the only usable chat direct and setting it on the channel by default would help a great deal. Many solo players do not expect to talk to people so never bother to even bind a key to it which is most of the problem but there is nothing you can do about it. If the player does not make aggressive moves or try to run, I typically give basic instructions on how to change channels and type in direct. The other obvious problem is non-english speaking players. -
Randomly Scripted Events Ideas
Bad Science replied to Vicriv8282's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is a great idea that would be relatively simple to implement, if perhaps difficult to balance. All the assets for plane crashes or cargo drops are already there. I also like some of the stuff on the Day Z urban legends thread, make random scary shit happen at night. -
At this point Bohemia should just give him a golden throne with multiple view screens so that he can read forums and bark orders at the development staff. He should not have to touch the actual tools at all anymore in my opinion.

The problem with pre-built machines is that they sell you crap you don't need and always skimp on the graphics card. If you do not have any experience yourself, try to read up on it or talk to a friend that can help you build one on your own. 500 dollars will build you an awesome gaming rig (assuming you already have a monitor) but it just will not get you much of a pre-built machine.

Stop complaining about 'hackers'
Bad Science replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is an interesting post. I hope that you are wrong. If you are correct, then the hacking will only get worse, and your wish to stop seeing these threads will be a fantasy, as it irks the serious and honest players so much that they have to tell SOMEONE who gives a shit leaving only the Day Z forum as an outlet for that frustration. -
DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers
Bad Science replied to Blay Wayne's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Now you get it, and no, I would not read a single one. Your buy cheap viagra threads WOULD probably be deleted though because that clearly has nothing to do with Day Z. -
All 3 camps 200km apart raided in 6hours
Bad Science replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
What happened to the OP was clearly systematic, but its impossible to say if its cheaters. A group of guys who found your camp would typically just take all they can carry, load up a vehicle and take off before anyone could catch them. Some groups of guys might just be malicious enough to want to destroy everything and scouring your server, hard to say. You can detect alot of the hacks when dealing with cheaters (bullets don't kill them, exotic non-Day Z weapons, nuclear missiles streaking through the sky etc.) but there is just no way for an observer who is not looking at the code to tell if someone is using a show vehicles or show players hack. In some ways the subtle hacks like that are even more destructive.... Anyway, sounds like you were getting too comfortable in your stocked camps, should be fun to get geared back up. As a side note, if the hacks that allow cheaters to find other players, tents, and vehicles are dealt with first, then it will make life extremely hard for hackers to find victims, mitigating much of the damage they are able to do in a period of time. If I was in charge of security, the locator hacks and nuke hacks would be the first priorities. -
DayZ is the first game I've ever seen ruined by hackers
Bad Science replied to Blay Wayne's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Or you could simply not read or post in them, making it easy for everyone involved. -
This is an excellent idea in the context of the game as it exists right now. It would make stealth more viable while using these weak zombie spawning and AI mechanics. I don't really sneak much at all anymore, you are much less likely to get sniped just sprinting and weaving building to building losing most zombies and popping the more persistent ones. Even though I would rather have radically different zombie behavior (they should move in groups and spawn regardless of location) to make something like "zombie impersonation" less useful, I cannot think of a good reason for a player not to be able to do this. It even comes with its own built in downside- you might get mistaken for a zombie and shot. edit: Just remebered, this is how Bill Murray died in Zombieland. Funny shit.
