What would be the perfect all around gun for a lone survivor?
Bad Science replied to Man vs Wild's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
M4 CCO if you do not have night vision and play at night, L85 is pretty amazing if you can find one, M4 sd if you really want to go unnoticed. If you plan to purely pvp (hang out, look for players, shoot few zombies) m14 is my favorite. If you use it on zombies you will be in over your head quick however... -
So me and a good friend were playing on the ICU clan server (ca #500, has -ICU- tag in description), cruising in our huey, trying to pick up survivors on the coast. We run into the ICU clan guys hanging out in Elektro. Since we are calling out, they know who is in the chopper, so the admin of the server (ICU clan) boots my pilot in mid air and slaps him with a global ban so he cant enter. The crash caused my death, no big deal really, was on a sick 8 day run tho. The point is, we know what you guys did man. It was dirty, it was vaginal, and I am pretty sure that it is against your terms of use for hosting a Day Z server. I will of course report all this through official channels as well, but I just wanted to name and shame you dirty, rotten, scrub douchebags. I sincerely hope you lose your server. ICU clan = weak, cheaters, no skill

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update
Bad Science replied to mattlightfoot's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Every thing about the barbed wire is bad. It's functionality is limited to extreme trolling applications, causes graphical errors, ties up valuable loot spawn points, does not serve as a barrier against the undead, does not remove correctly with tools, does not remove correctly from the server, does not place correctly if someone does want to "use" it. If you can make it act like a real barrier and deploy like, say, blocks in minecraft (develop this system and revolutionize the game when you apply it everywhere) then it would be good. -
The hypocrisy regarding hackers
Bad Science replied to Hawk24's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
If Hackers were just hacking in weapons like nice guns, people would hardly even complain about hacking. The hacks that piss people off are the ones that result in death and lost progress. This is kind of a no-brainer really, must be a troll post. -
On Hookers, Why DayZ is going the way of the Dodo, and more Hookers.

I like this guy, it takes a special talent to rant and insult with that kind of flair. -
Apparently Day Z players are not the only ones sick of Arma's engine
Bad Science replied to Bad Science's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree that it does play alot better. Time will tell if it can deliver the features the military demands. -

So no link then? And I checked the article links, they do not lead to that document you quote. They lead to some government website with links to many other places. Please provide a direct link or keep your discussion within the context of the PC Gamer article that this discussion is based on. I did find this quote from Kotaku in a link from the article I originally linked that you might find interesting (since we are having fun using quotes from other places than the OP): "The new game will replace Bohemia Interactive's Virtual Battlespace 2 as the flagship game in its Games for Training program." That kind of sounds like a replacement to me. -
This OP is badass. My favorite thread of the day by far.

I fail to see how I am being sensational. And I love the threats Zed. Very intimidating. Edit: Also, can you link the document you quote? I only ask, because that is not what I linked in the original post. It was a PC gamer article that contained none of that text. Which is kind of funny, telling me to read what I am talking about, when you link something else entirely. -

They are certainly competing from a position of advantage. And you are correct, that is an awfully long list. -

If they simply wanted to add a few features, they would add them. They are looking for a new contract, a complete replacement program. -

I missed this earlier. These types of conflicts are not new, the only new elements of insurgency are more accessible telecommunication, social media, and cyber warfare. I was recently reading about the Rhodesian Bush War, a great example of modern insurgency, before Pong or Super Mario. -

Bad Science replied to Bad Science's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is probably true that the army is not exactly "sick" of the program but it did make a good headline. Of course, the two army officers I have spoken to about it think its shit, worthless, and a poor replacement for field exercises. It's mostly me and other Day Z players who are sick of the broken monkey on Day Z's back. If there is enough money in it, whoever has the most friends and lobbying power will get the contract, not necessarily Bohemia. As a final comment, if it wasn't broke no one would be trying to fix it (unless someone has a financial interest in seeing it replaced). -

Looks like the US Army would like to upgrade to a new standalone as well. Can't say I blame them. http://www.pcgamer.c...aining-shooter/ Edit: And I think I found it's main competition. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/05/31/us-military-commission-57m-virtual-reality-training-sim-powered-by-cryengine-3/ -
That was good revenge to be sure. The whole time I could not help but be astonished at how much you abuse that 3rd person. Amazing that 3rd person is even in a "simulator". If you are laying down in tall grass, you can't see over it. If you are behind a tree, you cant see around it. That's an exploit in my opinion. I apologize, not trying to steal your thunder, but that is pretty cheesy. Not as cheesy as the Alt F4 guy however.
