What happens if you log out whilst unconcious and bleeding?
Spacehogking replied to KEEPCARLM's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wrong. As a professional combat logger I can tell you, back in the mod, if you were shot unconscious and then waited about 5-7 hours and logged back in you'd be conscious, albeit needing painkillers and bandaging (sometimes not even bleeding). -
I think Rocket is relaxed.

What if the sole intent of the victim was to do something similar once he had guns? Like a coward? That said, fresh spawn killing pisses me off.

How do you know that those people who pushed for release are the people now complaining? 'People' is a pretty vague term. I wanted the game released in any state, though I wasn't actively saying such on the internet because I wanted Dean to be able to execute his ultimate vision. That said, he needed to release SOMETHING. The awareness and general shared energy regarding DayZ was dying down; too much of the community would've moved on. I love alpher in the state that its in, especially knowing how great it will become. But as I said, you can't simply pin this on 'the community'. Much too vague.

Truly the fun police :P

I think it should be kept. The only reason people have felt so averse towards the perma-unconsciousness is that nothing about it was explained to them. In DayZMod, if you went unconscious from blood loss, you could still get up and you would only faint intermittently. The unconsciousness in DayZ SA is such that your avatar slips into a catatonic state as he is deprived of all nutrients and can only be revived by an IV drip (dead). It has been stated that the permanent unconsciousness is a bug - but was it? As a design feature it works perfectly. People say they need to eat and drink so frequently, but that's probably because they stop at 'your hunger is satisfied', which is only that, satisfied. Once you go over the limit you're basically a camel. With that hotfix on the eat/drink values, I'd say that permaunconsciousness currently provides a perfectly balanced risk. I love the fact that one can die permanently from not eating/drinking enough; in the mod it was a mere nuisance.

I'm literally already bored of the ALPHA. I expected more, Even for an ALPHA Release... Words from a 1,500+ ARMA:II Dayz Community Owner.

What a butthurt. Yes, there's only three guns for example. It seems to me that Dean kept the alpher really scant for the purposes of testing or something. I KNOW the amount of content that will eventually be poured into DayZ. You're being silly. -
I got all geared up Life couldn't be better but I am unconscious.

Errzaquaaaa.. Zombie noises! Yet, no zombies?

Soda opening noises seem buggy as well. Related to the sometimes-global direct chat issue? -
I get something similar but it has to do with my monitor. I get some abhorrent visual abnormality goes on with my monitor and it persists to my desktop, crashing my programs eventually. If I screenshot and save it, it appears as my normal desktop. Only a system restart fixes it, and I had to do that many many times during gameplay. Drviers up to date. Also, I am unconscious and cannot wake up.
-
It is apparently a bug that one cannot wake up from their unconscious state. It is caused by having not enough food/water. The question is if waiting (ive heard 30+ minutes to hours) can bring you back, or if being unconscious and and still not being able to consume things due to your unconscious state will put you in even worse condition. I know a saline bag/blood transfusion can bring you back but whoever administers it ought to have food/drink on them for you so you dont just immediately pass out again

Regarding the people complaining.

I made up my mind within 5 minutes of this buggy alpha... I love it, LOVE IT LOVE IT! -
green raincoat, camo hat, gasmask, tksso pants, combat boots, m4 with bipod and a mountain backpack... too bad I Am Unconscious. Forever it seems.
-
Yeah, me and all my friends are nominally unconscious. I'm waiting until the issue is hopefully fixed, been logging in intermittently to check my status, still unconscious. Not hitting respawn goddamnit.

Okay, how many shots to kill a man?
Spacehogking replied to deancolt45's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The AK-74 is really that bad. I've had many similar experiences to OP. Saw blood and everything, at least 3+ impacts, but they aren't downed. Ridiculous. -
The 'change icon' button for my six launcher is grayed out for some reason. Dang

Multiplayer Profiles Across new Computer?
Spacehogking posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I just got a new computer and noticed that my ingame profile apparently wasn't tethered to my steam account. I no longer have my profile. Thankfully, I backed up the hard disk of my old computer. What file do I need to transplant in order to have my profile back? Thank you Edit: It was in My Documents>Arma 2 Other Profiles In case anybody else was wondering. -

What Would You Like to Start With?
Spacehogking replied to zak757's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think the most recent update taking away the Makarov was a good idea, but as people here have pointed out, who carries a bag without food/water? My suggested loadout: 1 Coyote Pack 1 Flashlight 1 Baked Beans 1 Canteen (or an Empty Canteen if devs feel like being a bit more cruel) 2 Bandages [1 Map] [1 Compass] (Not everyone would typically have the following two items laying around, but it would really help new players get their bearings, and the experienced players don't need it anyway. And, as people have pointed out, it would dis-promote people shift+tabbing to use external maps.) Realistically, whose got strong painkillers just kicking around in their home? As well, a shaky screen is manageable (especially if you don't even have a gun) until you can find the painkillers. I don't know about you, but every time I've been punched in 1.7.1.1, I start bleeding on the first punch. Every time. I think this loadout I've described fits realism and mechanics together nicely.
